Compared to the all of the other places I have stayed in WDW this is definitely a major downgrade. These cabins were more expensive than a preferred room at Caribbean beach and it doesn’t even include anything extra. It advertises all of these fun things you can do like horseback riding or fishing, but they seem to forget to tell you the cost. In my cabin, the screens were coming out the windows, the bathroom door stuck so bad it was impossible to open or close it without making a large noise, the fridge handle felt as though it would fall off, and the fan in the bathroom rattled so bad when you turned it on and off. At the quick service there is almost nothing offered. You can have turkey, ribs, or chicken and that’s pretty much it. My family spent $127 on the refillable mugs for 6 people and it definitely wasn’t worth it. They do not have those special machines with all the options. Instead, they have coffee, tea, coke, sprite, Diet Coke, and zero sugar lemonade. I personally don’t like coffee, tea, or soda which is why I liked the special machines. They don’t even have Mickey waffles which is the most iconic breakfast at Disney. The golf carts were also expensive and after waiting 30 minutes for a bus from Hollywood Studios, we come to find that our golf cart had been stolen. Overall, I don’t think that these cabins were worth it and I would 100% NEVER stay there again.

Pros:

Fits 6 people, nice pool, chip and dals campfire, able to see magic kingdom fireworks from the outpost, and the light water parade.

Cons:

Cabins weren’t worth the money, nothing included with the expensive cost, and bad food options.

We stayed in the cabins over Memorial Day weekend. We go to Disney multiple times per year and usually our family of 6 stays in 2 values, but we decided to splurge. Even with military discount the cabin was $250 per night.

Loved it when we got there. So nice to have parking right at your cabin and not have to lug bags so far to our room. Kids loved the bunks. HOWEVER, the Murphy bed in living room was not comfortable. We would put 4 kids to bed in bedroom and then transfer them to Murphy bed when we were ready to go to sleep. We missed having 4 beds in values.

We went to Chip and Dale campfire our first night and that was fun, and also went to pool another night. Had to take Ft Wilderness bus to pool. Didn't realize we were supposed to take our own towels (maybe because we don't ever go to the pool when at Disney?) so we ended up having to buy $75 worth of towels at the gift shop to avoid going all the way back to our cabin.

Bus transportation inside Ft Wilderness was TERRIBLE. on two different occasions we waited for the bus at the pool/camfire area for over 30 mins before just walking back to our cabin. We didn't have a golf cart but there is no way I would ever stay here without one again. Golf cart is a necessity not a luxury here.

Even going to the parks is a hassle with our own car because Ft WIlderness is so far removed. Took 10-15 mins just to get to TTC. We took Disney transportation one day to MK (bus and then boat to MK), but we were there for SWW so it made more sense for us to drive to parks.

We liked the full kitchen but didn't use it other than for breakfast (and we can do that in a regular room). I liked having coffee maker, but missed being able to walk to counter service and get something else for breakfast. We didn't realize that there was no counter service AT ALL here. Went to Trail's End one night (after waiting a long time for bus) hoping to grab a quick bite and ended up with a 45 minute wait for TS. Eating at 8:30 with 3 kids and toddler....you get the picture. Food was fine, but our kids were so crabby at that point that we didn't enjoy it at all.

Pros:

full kitchen, away from everything, close parking to cabin

Cons:

busses within campground, too far from parks, no CS

We absolutely love FW, but this was our first time at the cabins versus our own RV. The cabins are cute, but not the best for a large family for a long period of time. I wish we had done them when the kids were little because it was a bit cramped with 3 large teenagers. My recommendation would be do a 2 night staycation at the cabins: focus on the pools, trails, boats, fire program, and enjoy FW. Then switch to a regular resort for the parks. The golf cart was fun (a hard must when staying here), but added to the cost of the vacation and negated any savings we had by staying here. The cabins are in hard need for a renovation.

Pros:

Housekeeping service was quick when we needed more towels and had a burnt out bulb. The theming is cute. The resort is quiet and relaxing.

Cons:

Rooms need serious renovation. You'll need a private form of transportation (golf cart, car, or both). The surface areas were clean, but the wood walls were covered in dust and fluff. The golf cart kept tripping our outdoor plug when charging.

(Posted to wrong category short2cake ) Let me start by saying I've always loved staying in the cabins on our trips. This time however, we checked in on 1/16/15 and kept finding bugs crawling around, which is to be expected out in the woods so I didn't think much of it. However, we kept finding them and killing them and they kept running, especially when we turned the lights on. We called the front desk around 6am and they said they'd have someone come out and they'd call us and let us know what was going on. We had probably killed about 5 so far (in under 2 days) and another 3-4 or so got away. Anyway, they never called. We called about 8pm from Hollywood Studios and they pretty much couldn't tell us anything except someone had been out there. So we got back to the cabin about 9:30pm and they were scurrying around all. We ended up going to the lobby and telling them they needed to move us, there was no way I was staying there for 10 days! They said they didn't have anything open but did agree to put us up at another resort-Port Orleans Riverside (cute but definitely not enough room for all of us!). They got us a new cabin the next morning but that one didn't have any hot water and after 3 calls about that, they gave us the key to the cabin next door to take showers and sent someone out to fix ours. And did I mention the flying bugs in this cabin? It was a critter filled vacation! They ended up refunding us 2 nights stay and we got extra/special fastpasses which were actually kind of cool. Anyway, like I said, we've always stayed at the cabins and I was really disappointed that this one was so infested with bugs. I don't understand how that went unnoticed like that. I don't know if I'll stay there again...I'm so creeped out by the whole experience. 🙁

Pros:

spacious

Cons:

bugs

Stayed here for one week in early February. The cast members here were very friendly and helpful. Unfortunately when we arrived, our cabin was not cleaned and ready at the promised time. We were asked to use the resort or wait, but it was getting to be dinner time. We were tired from traveling and had really hoped to unpack and prepare a meal for the kids. No compensation for this inconvenience was offered. Having stayed in the cabins before, years ago, we were surprised at the deterioration of these facilities. The furniture and appliances were worn and needed cleaning/replacement. The floors actually sagged in spots. More cooking supplies; such as a large mixing bowl, a cookie sheet, scissors, and a large pot with a lid would have been appreciated. Meal preparation was difficult. We love the location of this resort, and the peaceful surroundings can’t be beat! We just don’t feel we received enough “bang for our buck.”

Pros:

Location, boat to the Magic Kingdom, on-site restaurant, kind staff, peaceful surroundings, room for families, full-sized refrigerators.

Cons:

Shabby condition of cabins and furnishings, the necessity of using both an internal resort bus system along with the Disney bus system to the parks and Disney Springs. Lack of proper cooking equipment and utensils.

It’s a Disney World original. I stayed at this resort as a young teen with my family and my extended family. At the time there were only three parks River Country had recently closed. 5 people in a cabin was a good fit. The kitchen and being able to cook meals is perfect for large families. The amenities make a resort day worth taking. The feel is way more relaxed than most resorts and there is a feeling of community which you don’t find at any other resort. Location is ok the boat ride to Magic Kingdom is relaxing but it’s a bus to the other parks. One other thing, this resort is huge it has multiple internal bus loops. If your a first timer this resort might be too much.

Pros:

Amenities are fabulous. Tri-Circle D ranch, Hoopty Doo Review and Chip n Dale campfire. Full kitchen.

Cons:

Size is huge. Long trip to buses. Must be Disney World expert.

This resort is beautiful but very large! We did not rent golf cart because it was a whooping $70 a day. We finally figured out bus system and that was easy to use. Loved being able to ride boat to Magic Kingdom. I was disappointed in lack of food choices at dining area. The sit down resturant is really your only choice if you don't bring your own food. They do have a order form to order groceries and the price was very reasonable. I recommend this for parties of 6. We stayed comfortably in cabin. Pools and laundry are quite spread out too.

Pros:

Lots of room

Cons:

Resort spread out

If the bus system here was better, this would be my new favorite. For a staycation, the cabin was fantastic. You can bring your own food to make in the room, you can bring your own coffee and creamer, you can bring your own beverages. There's a full size refrigerator in here, and a microwave, convection oven, stove top, plus most things you'll need to use all of them. Plus a dishwasher! Also there's a patio with a picnic table outside and a grill.
I was in the outermost loop and I was able to hear fireworks and the Electrical Water Pageant from the patio. It's very quiet and peaceful as well.

Pros:

Quiet, peaceful, doesn't feel like you're at Disney

Cons:

Transportation system is terrible, limited parking at cabin, would need a golf cart to get around or if staying several days

stayed 8/17-8/24.The resort is beautiful set in the woods. The cabins are nice and roomy however there is only one bathroom and the sofa bed a bit rough. If you get a cabin in the back you will have to get a golf cart as the walk to the bus stop will be very long. this ofcourse will cost you more. The pool at the Meadows was great. The slide a lot of fun and the snack bar had lots of good food. my only bad thing to say is the internal bus can be frustrating. You need to take the internal bus to another bus to get to the parks except magic kingdom which you have to do by boat. At the end of the day you take the bus back to the resort then the internal bus then walk back to your cabin. When your tired this can be a bit much. we opted to keep mousekeeping instead of opting out and getting a little money back. all in all a great place with horses, the hoop dee doo show and lots to do. I wish they would have kept the murphy bed and wish easier to get around but still liked it very much

Pros:

location,things to do and seclusion

Cons:

internal bus

This is the 3rd time we stayed at the cabins. My party of 6 stayed 5 nights with the free dining plan in the fall. This is one of the more budget friendly resorts for a party our size. The family suites or 2 rooms at a value resort are the only cheaper options. We like the regular dining plan so this was our choice for this vacation.

We really needed a slow pace relax and yet have Disney fun trip and this really fit the bill! We like the theme and the fact it has a living dining room with kitchen is nice.

On the down side, we were not in a loop by the cabin pool so we never made it to the pool. My 13 yr old just fits in the bunk bed so this may be our last trip for awhile here. Housekeeping missed us one day. And since I'm familiar with the layout of this resort, we brought some food . Then purchased perishables at the Trading post to make the fact that there is no cs here easier to deal with. It is difficult to have the dining plan while staying here. We made sure that most days we got our cs meal while at the park we were at for that day. Other days we went to Downtown Disney for our cs.

Pros:

cozy, full kitchen, great place to relax and unwind

Cons:

need to take bus to main pool, food, dock, etc
