Although the characters were great (Cinderella, Prince Charming, Stepsisters and Stepmother), the food was absolutely the worst I have had at any Disney restaurant including the quick service ones. I'm not quite sure where the people ate who mentioned the wide variety of food.
The salad bar consisted of a bowl of premixed ceasar salad, a bowl of grapes and a bowl of pineapple. Entrees included rare roast beef (or a very dry inedible end cut if you didn't want rare), pork roast or a pasta dish which was not much better than noodles with sauce out of a jar. The rolls were extremely hard and hadn't seen the oven for quite a while. There were a few side dish choices, but nothing great. Dessert was fine (but how hard is it to mess up a cookie?).
I really expected something along the lines of the Pooh character lunch buffet at the Crystal Palace which we've always enjoyed (and has lots of choices). This buffet had probably 1/4 the number of dishes. What a waste of our table service credits on the dining plan! As bad as that was, I would have been horrified to pay over $100 for a family of 4 for that meal.
I'd definitely recommend the Princess breakfast at Epcot or the Pooh character meal at Magic Kingdom several million times over this one!

Ate in a hallway away from main dinning hall

Good: Characters were very entertaining once they reached us and were hilarious!
Bad: We were seated in a hallway type place away from main dining hall, not a lot of food to choose from. Characters didn't make it to us till we were done eating.

The best thing that was served was the kids pizza. The kitchen's attempt at international cuisine was an epic failure. They must have gotten a huge shipment of salt at a low price. The service was horrible. The only saving grace was a cast member named Bill, who was able to cheer up my 23 month old, just by looking at her.

We ate here on Tues. Jan. 12th. We had ADR's for 4:35, and were seated right on time! I thought the food was especially good for a buffet- LOVED the Strawberry Soup, and I thought the different foods from different countries were excellent also. The characters were funny and very child-friendly. My husband was invited to dance with Anastacia! Definitely the best buffet that we had while we were there. I'd go again in a heartbeat!

We visited 12/24/09. I would like to have rated this higher however, while the characters were terrific the food was not.
The Grand Floridian is beautiful, especially at the Holidays. Cast members were friendly enough as we were seated. And the characters from Prince Charming to Cinderella and stepmom and stepsisters were all great. All of the characters seemed to spend more time than is normal at your table. Plus, I agree with previous reviews - the stepsisters alone make it worth the visit. They are loud and funny.
The food was disappointing though. Nothing really stood out in the buffet for me.

This was our first time eating here. It was good. I feel they could have a little more simple food options. I actually ate from the kids section b/c a lot of the other choices were not my style of food. The salad was good. The dessert is yummy! I love the characters here. They did not rush. Prince Charming put my daughters ring on her finger which was cute. The evil step mother was not scary at all. I would eat here again, but I might try the breakfast.

This one is very close to being a 10 and was definitely my favorite character dining experience of my family's most recent trip (Garden Grill was also excellent). The food was good enough...not outstanding, but good. I was actually really excited to see that there were some different options, so I helped myself to quite a large helping of beef stir fry. Salad and rolls were also really good. There was a little something for everybody to eat here and covered a wide variety of tastes. Better than I expected.
And, as hoped, we had a BLAST with the characters. Even Prince Charming was pretty good. Cinderella came out right away and actually remembered me from breakfast in the castle 2 days before (good memory!!). Lady Tremaine was good too, but the highlight was absolutely the stepsisters. They were so much fun! Anastasia asked if my brother was marriable and if he had a ring for her, which was great as I tend to get more of the character attention. I was glad he got a bit this time too. I made a point to compliment each stepsister on their singing abilities and laughed quite a bit when Drizella said that they are much more fun than princesses because they have personalities. :-) They played around with each other and all characters (Cinderella included) seemed to be having a very good time. I was ECSTATIC when Drizella returned to our table later in the evening and brought over Anastasia. They decided to sing for me, and after a minute of calling for their mother and being ignored, all three stood directly in front of me and performed "Sing, Sweet Nightingale." I almost died from laughing and, to be honest, it made me feel quite special. Adults tend to get ignored a bit more by characters but this was just wonderful for our family. We will absolutely return.
Also, at one point Prince Charming danced with a slew of little girls in princess dresses, and it may have been the cutest thing I've ever seen.

We had a great time here. Step-sisters are the best---so so funny. Food selection was very good for buffet. The little desserts were so yummy and original. I will be back. We loved it here. The Grand Floridian is so magnificent. The Ginger bread house was up when we were there too. (Nov 20). A must do.

Table location

We had a 4:40 ADR and waited in line for a picture in front of the wall mural. The staff came out and welcomed us to the royal banquet hall and had a little 'opening ceremony'. We were brought to our table which was in the room off the main dining hall. We were unable to see when the characters arrived or the royal waltz and dancing from our table. Other than that we enjoyed ourselves. The prince and Cinderella were very sweet and talked to all 3 of my kids, even the 1 1/2 year old who got left out alot at other meals.
Anastasia was great in her part, but was very loud, especially for the room we were in. I'm sure it wasn't as bad in the main room. Drizella was also good, and asked which of my boys had the most money so she knew which one to marry! We also met Lady Tremaine who wasn't as mean as I had heard she would be, but rather nice. Most of the interaction between the characters themselves were in the main dining room so I missed a lot of that, but what I did catch seemed amusing.
The food was pretty good, with types of food for different countries. The stir-fry was the worst, but there were lots of other choices. I tried the strawberry soup from reading reviews and while it didn't look very good, it was fantastic. Both my boys were skeptical, but they loved it as well and got seconds for a dessert!
I am very sure we will do this again, I just hope we get a better table next time as it was the only bad part.

Food, atmosphere

The characters were great, but the food and atmosphere were lacking. The food was underseasoned in general. The selection was nice - there was a good variety. My daughters and I are vegetarian, and we found plenty to eat. The restaurant feels "accidental". It just feels kind of stuck into the Grand Floridian. There aren't any windows, and the layout doesn't flow well. The atmosphere was chaotic. There doesn't seem to be rhythm like there is at Chef Mickey's, which is also a buffet and character dining. I just felt on edge while we were there (even after the fancy martini). Our server wasn't great, either. We had dirty plates waiting to be removed. I compared this buffet experience to our experience at Biergarten on the previous day, and Biergarten was much more efficient. So, go for the fun characters (Lady Tremaine and the stepsisters are fun), but don't go for the food or atmosphere.

crowded, waited 30 mins past reservation, no time with characters, food yucky

Enjoyed my breakfast here, but was disappointed with dinner. 30 minutes past our reservation. Didn't get seated til 8pm and the kids were worn out. (We were 15 mins early too.) Our party of 7 was shoved in bench seating against the wall, making it difficult to get up and go to the buffet. Food was yucky. Beef too salty. Pasta had a weird taste. Strawberry soup was too thick. The room even smelled like Asian food. The characters didn't spend any time with our table with two 5yo girls and a 3yo boy, although they seemed to spend more time with other tables. The step mother skipped our table. I asked the waitress and she did nothing. It wasn't til my daughter was in tears leaving that I told the hostess and she got the handler to get a picture of my daughter with Lady Tremaine. Lady Tremaine was quick and rude (maybe in character?). Won't do this one again.

I hadn't done a character dinner since I was a child but when my six-year-old niece said she wanted to meet Cinderella's evil step family I found this dinner. She loved it! The rest of the family thought that the food was fantastic. The strawberry soup was very good and creamy. I enjoyed the roast beef and pork and the mashed potatoes were some of the best I'd ever had. I thought that the characters did a nice job and didn't spend a lot of time at our table, but the time they did spend was appropriate for the level of interaction my niece was giving them. She's a little shy and the were wonderful with her.
Our server started out great and apparently while I was at the buffet, he came back to the table and did his whole spiel a second time as if he didn't know he'd been there already, which annoyed others in the party. I had to ask for refills on my drink as did others at the table. He did do a nice job of interacting with the characters and when my niece gave Cinderella, her sisters, and mother all pictures of them that she had colored, he was gracious and helped them by taking them to "their special bulletin board."
It was a bit pricey, but we enjoyed ourselves plus I wasn't paying (stepfather did!) so on that end, it was great! :-)

This was our first time visiting the 1900 Park Fare and I can honestly say I would choose this over the castle any day. It was so very cute how they did everything. The characters were very interactive and they talked and played their parts very well. Even the prince was talkative. It did take awhile for all of them to come around but we were in a hurry to get back to the very Merry Christmas party. The food was very good and the desserts were wonderful! The bread pudding was AWESOME!! Prime Rib was great they had a very wide variety and even the pickiest eaters liked this. We will come back to this.

1900 Park Fare used to be excellent and now since the Dining Plan has become more popular the food has gone downhill. The strawberry soup is so good! The chicken marsala was good but much of the food was pretty average; nothing to write home about. It used to be so good, what happened? The asparagus soup used to be very delicous and when we ate there on 11/6 it was very salty, I guess the chef was in love when making it. It was a Friday night and they didn't even have prime rib, it was just plain beef. Our server June was very nice and helpful. Probably our best on the whole trip. The characters are a hoot! It is so much funnier with the step sisters opposed to the mice Perla and Susie. Even though we weren't thrilled, we will probably be returning on our next visit.
