The current Illuminations fireworks show, Reflections of Earth, is a fabulous show right in the heart of Epcot’s World Showcase Lagoon. I believe it it the closest guests get to a Disney fireworks show at Walt Disney World.
I recently shared with you photography tips and a new favorite location for Illuminations. For this Disney Pic of the Week on Illuminations, I have a unique photo I took when I was with a group of photographers. I had come late to the meeting location and got in behind a few of them. Not getting the best view, I decided to include one of the camera’s photographing the show. I set my focus for the show to get nice fireworks streams. Hope you like it.

Great shot Scott. I love how you can see what the other camera was capturing. Most of the time, I get annoyed at those people who have their viewing screens on in front of me because it tends to add more light and distractions for me. From now on, I’ll look at it as an opportunity. Question: how did you get an exposure of exactly 17.3 seconds? My guess is that is the exact time you released the shutter and not something you purposely planned.
Scott replies: Steve, you are correct. I used a 3-stop ND filter for this photo and had put my camera in Bulb. That way I controlled when the shutter opened and closed. Just lucky to hit 17.3 on the nose. 🙂 When in crowd, you have to make the best of it. I did move to another location after this photo though I was shooting underneath one of my friend’s elbows.
