TRON: Legacy opens today in the United States as the long anticipated sequel to Disney’s 1982 TRON. Earlier this year, the TRON Monorail started running between the Magic Kingdom and Epcot to promote the film. The monorail has two sides, one with a yellow lightcycle and the other side you see above with a blue lightcycle.

I thought it was great synergy between the themeparks and motion picture divisions of the Disney company. Not everyone thought the TRON monorail was a good idea. To those people, I surmise Walt Disney would have done such a promotion in a heartbeat. He wasn’t one to miss an opportunity to create a buzz about a new film his company was making.

  1. Well shot. We were at WDW back in March the week that cast members were putting Monorail Coral into it’s new TRON suit. I was trying to ride all the colors during that trip and finally, finally on our last night there they put Monorail TRON on the EPCOT line. I still counted it as a ride on Coral since the original color shows at the door seams!! Thanks again for the advice on shooting fireworks. The step up ring has already arrived and I’m just waiting on the Dolica ND filters you suggested. I hope I can put them to use on New Years Eve.

Scott replies: So that’s the color they used for the TRON monorail. I only got to ride on the resort loop monorails on my last trip. Good luck with the ND filters. Let me know how it goes on NYE!

  2. That is a really cool picture.
The blue of the monorail, the sky, the reflection on the water look incredible.

NICE JOB! Wish it was a bit bigger so I could have that as a wall paper for my PC.

Scott replies: Thank you! This is a photo I actually planned on doing and waited for two other monorails to go by.

I have sent your request of a wallpaper sized version to AllEars. When it is ready, I’ll let you know. In the meantime, you can see what is available now here: http://allears.net/desktop/desktop.htm (you need to copy and paste this link into your browser).

  3. All the blues in the picture make it very eye catching to me. Great shot as always, I enjoy the photo blogs.
