Cast of Disney’s Hollywood Studios Autographs Structural Beam for New Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge Coming to Disney’s Hollywood Studios

cast-signs-star-wars-beam.jpg

(LAKE BUENA VISTA, Fla.) Nov. 15, 2017 – They’ve lent their spirit. Now Disney’s Hollywood Studios Cast Members and Walt Disney Imagineers are lending their signatures – and making their mark on theme-park history. All were invited to sign the steel beam that will be the highest point in Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge, a new land coming in 2019 to Disney’s Hollywood Studios.

The beam-signing took place Nov. 12-14 in a backstage location of the park just outside the site of the new land. The signed beam will become part of the landscape in the tallest spire of rock rising behind the iconic Millennium Falcon spaceship. The beam will form the highest point in Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge.

Disney cast members are taking photos of themselves signing the beam. They’re also autographing a “time capsule” banner that will be presented to the new land’s opening-day team in 2019.

Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge will transport guests to a remote trading port on the edge of space, where Star Wars characters and their stories come to life – and where guests find themselves in the middle of the action. Two major attractions anchoring the new land – and even the land itself – will offer guests the chance to immerse themselves in the Star Wars universe like never before.

Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge is part of the multi-year transformation of Disney’s Hollywood Studios, which also includes Toy Story Land, set to open in summer 2018.

Woody's Lunch Box

Woody’s Lunch Box in Toy Story Land at Disney’s Hollywood Studios

CHICAGO, Oct. 24, 2017– Mini Babybel®, the creamy, red-wax-wrapped cheese, has been named the Official Snack Cheese of Walt Disney World Resort in Florida, the Disneyland Resort in California and Disney Cruise Line. This announcement kicks off a multi-year strategic alliance between the two family-focused brands.

As part of the alliance, Mini Babybel will be prominently featured at a quick-service window within the new Toy Story Land scheduled to open in 2018 at Disney’s Hollywood Studios in Florida. Because even toys need a bite or two every now and again, Andy has taken a vintage Woody-themed lunch box and propped it open with a thermos to turn it into Woody’s Lunch Box that dishes out all sorts of tasty meals and old-fashioned soda floats. He completed the area with a classic book and toys strewn about, along with items from his lunch box.

Disney’s collaboration with Mini Babybel provides appealing, on-the-go snack options for millions of families enjoying Disney’s U.S. parks and cruise ships each day. Both brands focus on fun and aim to surprise and delight their audiences; Mini Babybel with its delicious cheese and playful personality, and Disney Parks with magical moments that create lasting memories.

“At Bel Brands USA, we are all about sharing smiles and we are delighted to bring that to life through our alliance with Disney,” said Francis Perrin, chief marketing officer of Bel Brands USA, makers of Mini Babybel cheese. “We believe Mini Babybel makes snack time an adventure in deliciousness for the whole family every day and now we can share that fun and great taste with even more families as they enjoy adventures of their own at Disney Parks.”

Set to open in the summer of 2018, Toy Story Land will invite guests to step into the whimsical world of Pixar Animation Studios’ blockbuster films where playtime stretches longer than a Slinky® Dog. Guests will feel like they’ve shrunk to the size of a toy as they play in Andy’s backyard with their favorite Toy Story pals.

“We can’t wait for our guests to experience Toy Story Land, and the new quick-service window located within the land will surely delight hungry toys and people alike,” said Carlos Castro, vice president of Disney Corporate Alliances. “We are thrilled to collaborate with Mini Babybel and introduce additional snack offerings in Toy Story Land and throughout Walt Disney World Resort and Disneyland Resort.”

Mini Babybel is 100% real cheese with a rich and creamy taste enjoyed by cheese lovers of all ages. Each round delivers at least four grams of protein, 15 percent of an individual’s daily calcium needs, and is playfully portable for lunchtime, snack time or anytime.

BaseLine Tap House Coming to Disney's Hollywood Studios

New BaseLine Tap House Part of New Grand Avenue Area at Disney’s Hollywood Studios
baseline-tap-house

Debuting this fall, the new Grand Avenue area at Disney’s Hollywood Studios is being re-imagined by Walt Disney Imagineers to capture the spirit of present-day Downtown Los Angeles, showing vintage office buildings and warehouses representing the different vibrant districts and cultures of the city. One prominent hot spot to spring up is the BaseLine Tap House, a cheerful corner pub specializing in beer and wines from California.

In a quaint brick building, BaseLine Tap House celebrates the revitalization of Downtown Los Angeles by paying homage to the building’s former life as the Figueroa Printing Company, a mom-and-pop print house that had ties to the Disney studios in nearby Burbank. The space retains many of its cool architectural and mechanical details with exposed walls and old printing equipment and artifacts, blending the past and present in an inviting space. Outside is a charming tree-shaded terrace, perfect for a relaxing break in the day.

baseline-tap-house2.jpg

California craft ales, lagers and cider are the stars of the drink menu. California wines on tap along with specialty cocktails are not to be missed either. A gourmet non-alcoholic lemonade and soda on tap round out the drink selection.

If you’re feeling peckish, try one of the small bites, including a Bavarian pretzel with mustard and beer-cheese fondue, spiced almonds or a charcuterie board featuring California cheeses.

BaseLine Tap House will open daily at 11 a.m.

First Mickey-Themed Ride-Through Attraction, Mickey and Minnie’s Runaway Railway, Coming to Disney’s Hollywood Studios

mandm.jpg

A new attraction featuring international icon Mickey Mouse is coming to Disney’s Hollywood Studios at the Walt Disney World Resort! Details for our first Mickey-themed ride-through attraction, Mickey and Minnie’s Runaway Railway, were just unveiled during the Walt Disney Parks and Resorts presentation at D23 Expo 2017 – and we think you’re going to love it.

On Mickey and Minnie’s Runaway Railway, you’ll step through the movie screen and join Mickey and his friends like never before. The attraction will put you inside the wacky and unpredictable world of a Mickey Mouse Cartoon Short where you’re the star and anything can happen. This zany out-of-control adventure features surprising twists and turns, dazzling visual effects and mind-boggling transformations that happen before your very eyes.

The attraction is inspired by the Mickey Shorts that you can see on the Disney Channel. And the people who bring you the shorts at Disney Television Animation are partnering with us to help bring the attraction to life.

Mickey and Minnie’s Runaway Railway will feature a new story and a new singable attraction theme song as well as a new experience we’re calling “2 1/2 D.” No glasses required. Walt Disney Imagineer Kevin Rafferty said teams are inventing new technologies that turn the flat world of a colorful cartoon short into a “dimensional display of amazingness.”

“This is one of the boldest…most impossible things I’ve ever worked on in almost 40 years of being an Imagineer. And you know what? That’s what I love about it. Well, that, and Mickey,” Kevin said. “This is not going to be a small attraction, it’s going to be game-changing.”

As you plan ahead, we also wanted to let you know that in order to begin to prepare the new home of Mickey and Minnie’s Runaway Railway at the Chinese Theatre in Disney’s Hollywood Studios, August 13, 2017 will be the final day of operation for The Great Movie Ride presented by Turner Classic Movies. Until August 13, you can still relive some of the greatest movie moments in history on the Great Movie Ride attraction.

Epic Fireworks and Projection Show, Live Onstage Entertainment and Stormtrooper Marches Join Force-Filled Lineup at Disney’s Hollywood Studios

LAKE BUENA VISTA, Fla. (Feb. 19, 2016) -- Following the extraordinary popularity of Star Wars: The Force Awakens, Walt Disney World Resort is unveiling even more Star Wars-themed entertainment at Disney’s Hollywood Studios starting this spring -- including one of the most elaborate fireworks and projection shows in the park’s history.

Just in time for spring, that “galaxy far, far away’’ will be closer than ever with the April 4th arrival of the new Star Wars live entertainment experience Star Wars: A Galaxy Far, Far Away and a menacing First Order stormtrooper procession at Disney’s Hollywood Studios. And to kick off summer, the park is launching a new nightly fireworks and projection show called Star Wars: A Galactic Spectacular that will eclipse anything of its kind in the park’s history.

These new Star Wars entertainment elements, coupled with other recently added Star Wars experiences, make Disney’s Hollywood Studios the place for fans to celebrate their Star Wars passion.

Here are details on these latest entertainment features coming to Disney’s Hollywood Studios this spring and summer:

APRIL 4:

Star Wars: A Galaxy Far, Far Away: This new live, stage show celebrates iconic moments from the Star Wars saga with live vignettes featuring popular Star Wars characters, such as Kylo Ren, Chewbacca, Darth Vader and Darth Maul. The show will take place multiple times each day at the Center Stage area near The Great Movie Ride.

Stormtroopers march:
At various times each day, the menacing Captain Phasma will lead a squad of First Order stormtroopers as they march in formation from Star Wars Launch Bay to the Center Stage area in an intimidating demonstration of the First Order’s indomitable strength.

SUMMER:

Star Wars: A Galactic Spectacular: As the next generation of the current Star Wars-inspired fireworks show, this blockbuster nightly show, unprecedented in Disney’s Hollywood Studios history, will light up the sky with Star Wars-themed fireworks, lasers, light projections and other special effects combined with Star Wars-themed music and iconic characters and scenes from throughout the saga.

Through these state-of-the-art special effects that project onto the nearby Chinese Theatre and other surrounding buildings, guests will gaze at the twin suns of Tatooine, push through a field of battle droids, navigate through an asteroid field, soar down the trench of the Death Star and deliver the final blow to destroy Starkiller Base. The show, which will unfold through a series of acts, will be punctuated by a tower of fire as well as powerful spotlight beams that create lightsabers in the sky.

These latest Star Wars experiences join other new Star Wars elements recently launched at Disney’s Hollywood Studios, such as Star Wars Launch Bay. Since its debut in December, Star Wars Launch Bay has become a popular and central location where guests immerse themselves in the Star Wars saga through themed galleries, large-scale artifacts and Star Wars character encounters, including recently-added Kylo Ren, the menacing character from Star Wars: The Force Awakens.

Other recent additions that have attracted legions of fans since their December debut include:

-- Star Wars: Path of the Jedi, a cinematic reel celebrating the Star Wars
-- The enhanced Star Tours – The Adventures Continue that includes new characters and a new journey from Star Wars: The Force Awakens.
-- The reimagined Jedi Training: Trials of the Temple, featuring new characters, including the Seventh Sister from the Disney XD series Star Wars Rebels.
-- The “Symphony in the Stars: A Galactic Spectacular,’’ a nightly fireworks show set to Star Wars-themed music that will be reimagined as Star Wars: A Galactic Spectacular this summer.
-- First Order stormtrooper patrols.
-- Star Wars-inspired food and beverage offerings.

With these new entertainment elements, Walt Disney World Resort guests can enjoy even more extensions of the record-setting movie Star Wars: The Force Awakens and further immerse themselves into the Star Wars galaxy like never before. Each entertainment element offers guests a uniquely immersive Star Wars experience, all adding to an unforgettable day and night at Disney’s Hollywood Studios.

And more Star Wars experiences are on the way with the upcoming Star Wars-themed lands planned for Walt Disney World Resort and Disneyland Resort in California. Guests can join the conversation online using #StarWars.

More Closings Announced for Disney's Hollywood Studios

lkb-ShrunkPlaySet-supersoaker.jpg

Several new closings were announced on January 15, 2016, for Disney's Hollywood Studios.

First, the Disney Parks Blog announced that Lights, Motors, Action would close on April 2.

A later report in the Orlando Sentinel announced even more closings that would occur on April 2:

Honey, I Shrunk the Kids Movie Play Set
Monsters Inc. Meet and Greet
Studios Catering Company

earful_tower_st.jpg

Finally, the removal of the Earffel Tower.

None of these closures come as a surprise to those following the changes at the Studios. After all, to build two new lands, Star Wars and Toy Story, a good amount of acreage needs to be cleared and made available. The one item that was sad for Studios fans is the removal of the Earffel Tower. Back in the early days of the Studios, the Tower was thought of as the icon of the park. During the holidays a Santa hat was even placed on the Tower. However, in recent years, and with closures of attractions like the Backlot Studio Tour, it has taken more of a back seat.

Several backstage areas are also slated for closure, again to make room for the new areas.

It's unknown at this time just what other areas will be closed. What is known, though, is that more announcements will be coming.

Star Wars-Themed Lands Coming to Walt Disney World and Disneyland Resorts

Today at the D23 EXPO 2015, The Walt Disney Company Chairman and CEO Bob Iger announced to an audience of more than 7,500 fans that Star Wars-themed lands will be coming to Disneyland park in Anaheim, Calif., and Disney’s Hollywood Studios at Walt Disney World Resort in Orlando, Fla., allowing Star Wars fans to step into the stories from a galaxy far, far away.

star-wars-land-01.jpg

Ambitious plans to bring Star Wars to life in the two parks include creating Disney’s largest single-themed land expansions ever at 14-acres each, transporting guests to a never-before-seen planet, a remote trading port and one of the last stops before wild space where Star Wars characters and their stories come to life.

star-wars-land-02.jpg

"I am thrilled to announce the next chapter in the long and exciting history between Disney Parks and Star Wars," said Iger. "We are creating a jaw-dropping new world that represents our largest single themed land expansion ever. These new lands at Disneyland and Walt Disney World will transport guests to a whole new Star Wars planet, including an epic Star Wars adventure that puts you in the middle of a climactic battle between the First Order and the Resistance."

star-wars-land-03.jpg

These authentic lands will have two signature attractions, including the ability to take the controls of one of the most recognizable ships in the galaxy, the Millennium Falcon, on a customized secret mission, and an epic Star Wars adventure that puts guests in the middle of a climactic battle.

Iger also shared concept images of the Star Wars-themed lands, giving fans a glimpse at what is to come for Disney parks.

The partnership between Disney and Lucasfilm dates back to 1987, when the successful Star Tours attraction, inspired by George Lucas’s legendary Star Wars film series, opened at Disneyland. The attraction was then redesigned, emerging as “Star Tours – The Adventures Continue” in 2011 and featuring more than 50 different story outcomes and the possibility to visit five different planets.

Turner Classic Movies and Disney Team Up

Features Include New TCM Integration in Theme Park Attraction and On-Air Showcase of Disney Treasures

Turner Classic Movies (TCM) today announced new strategic relationships with Walt Disney World Resort and The Walt Disney Studios to broaden its reach in family entertainment with joint efforts centered on classic film.

At Disney's Hollywood Studios, the "The Great Movie Ride" Attraction highlights some of the most famous film moments in silver screen history and is set to receive a TCM-curated refresh of the pre-show and the finale. TCM branding will be integrated into the attraction's marquee as well as banners, posters and display windows outside the attraction. In the queue line, families will enjoy new digital movie posters and will watch a new pre-ride video with TCM host Robert Osborne providing illuminating insights from the movies some of which guests will experience during the ride. The finale will feature an all-new montage of classic movie moments. After guests exit the attraction, they will have a photo opportunity with a classic movie theme. The TCM-curated refresh is set to launch by spring.

As part of the relationship with The Walt Disney Studios, TCM will launch Treasures from the Disney Vault, a recurring on-air showcase that will include such live-action Disney features as Treasure Island (1950), Darby O'Gill and the Little People (1959) and Pollyanna (1960); animated films like The Three Caballeros (1944) and The Adventures of Ichabod and Mr. Toad (1949); classic nature documentaries, including The Living Desert (1953) and The African Lion (1955); made-for-television classics, such as the Davy Crockett series; special episodes from Walt Disney's Wonderful World of Color; documentaries about the studio, including Walt & El Grupo (2009) and Waking Sleeping Beauty (2010); and animated shorts, such as 1932's Oscar®-winning "Flowers and Trees."

Treasures from the Disney Vault is scheduled to premiere on TCM Sunday, Dec. 21 at 8 p.m. The opening night will include the holiday and winter animated shorts "Santa's Workshop," "On Ice" and "Chip An' Dale," followed by The Disneyland Story. The night will also include The Reluctant Dragon, Disney's 1941 film that combined a live-action tour of the Walt Disney Studios facility with animated shorts; Davy Crockett, King of the Wild Frontier (1955), a compilation of the first three episodes of the iconic series starring Fess Parker; the Oscar®-winning documentary The Vanishing Prairie (1954), part of Disney's True Life Adventure series; the rarely seen Third Man on the Mountain (1959), an Alpine tale starring Michael Rennie and James MacArthur; and Perilous Assignment (1959), a documentary about the making of Third Man on the Mountain.

"At TCM, it's our mission to share and celebrate the greatest films of all time," said Jennifer Dorian, general manager of TCM. "Disney provides the perfect relationship through which we can share the magic of the movies with every generation, not only through an amazing new showcase on TCM, but also through newly refreshed components of 'The Great Movie Ride' Attraction at Disney's Hollywood Studios."

"We are looking forward to this collaboration, which complements Disney's commitment to telling great stories and immersing our guests in family entertainment," said Tiffany Rende, senior vice president of Disney Corporate Alliances and Operating Participants. "Through this alliance, we are able to share more classic Disney stories with TCM audiences, while further enhancing the guest experience by showcasing TCM content and talent."

This marks an expansion of TCM's already robust relationship with the family entertainment and media enterprise. TCM set sail on its fourth TCM Classic Cruise in October 2014, the second aboard the Disney Cruise Line's Disney Magic. In addition, TCM has collaborated with Buena Vista Home Entertainment on various initiatives, including the 2008 documentary The Age of Believing: The Disney Live-Action Classics, which premiered in conjunction with a 25-movie showcase of family classics. The 2012 TCM Classic Film Festival in Hollywood featured a multi-film collection of Disney classics presented in collaboration with D23, The Official Disney Fan Club. And the 2014 TCM Classic Film Festival featured the 50th Anniversary screening of one of Walt Disney's most successful films Mary Poppins (1964) at Disney's El Capitan Theatre.

"Frozen" Takes Center Stage at Disney's Hollywood Studios

anna-and-elsa.jpg

LAKE BUENA VISTA, Fla. - This summer, Disney's Hollywood Studios will be celebrating "Frozen," the hit animated feature film from Disney, with a daily character procession, sing-alongs with Anna and Elsa, fireworks, a polar playground, ice skating rink, ice carving demonstrations and a nightly party featuring a live band, all themed to the worldwide phenomenon.

From July 5-Sept. 1, 2014, "Frozen Summer Fun Live!" will bring to life the world of royal sisters Anna and Elsa and their fairy tale kingdom of Arendelle. Most activities are included in theme park admission.

Special experiences will immerse guests in lots of Frozen fun. Here are some highlights (*schedule subject to change without notice):

-- Anna's & Elsa's Royal Welcome: Each day at 11 a.m., Anna and Elsa, riding in a horse-drawn sleigh, will travel in a royal procession down Hollywood Boulevard. Rugged mountain man Kristoff is along for the fun joined by a flurry of skaters, skiers and ice cutters, all dressed in their Arendelle best.

-- For The First Time in Forever: A Frozen Sing-Along Celebration: Inside the park's Premiere Theater, Princess Anna and Queen Elsa join the Royal Historians of Arendelle for a fun and comedic retelling of the history of their kingdom amidst projections, lighting and special effects. Guests will be invited to join in special sing-along moments from the film's chart-topping soundtrack. At the end of the performance, guests might find themselves becoming "Honorary Citizens of Arendelle." The 20-minute show will be presented multiple times each day.

-- Wandering Oaken's Trading Post & Frozen Funland: There's a "big summer blowout" happening inside the park's Soundstage One, where Oaken - the film's trading post owner - and his cousins have created the "Frozen Funland" amidst a winter wonderland. Living up to its name, there will be plenty of frozen festivities inside the makeshift adventure park Oaken and his cousins built to make the most of the sudden snowstorm.

Part of the Oaken's Frozen Funland will be an ice skating rink with demonstrations by some of Oaken's talented cousins on the Arendelle ice.

In addition, icy artisans will put their talents on display, creating carvings of favorite "Frozen" characters from giant frozen blocks. Kids can enjoy frozen wintertime activities in the "Do You Want to Build a Snowman?" area. For all of his Frozen Funland friends, Oaken has plenty of merchandise at his Trading Post, along with hot cocoa and sweet treats available for purchase.

Guests can take pictures with the film's animated characters in a virtual setting, and then email them or share on their social media channels.

When guests want to escape the icy atmosphere of Oaken's outpost, all they have to do is look for the door marked "Sauna," where they once again will exit to the warm Florida sun.

Coolest Summer Ever Dance Party:
From 5:30-9:30 p.m. each evening, a live band will take the stage to celebrate the Frozen summer fun with contemporary songs and a few familiar tunes from the film.

Take-Along Olaf: As a special feature before the fireworks, guests will have a chance to be a part of a pre-show celebration by hashtagging photos of themselves in the park with a "Take-Along Olaf." Throughout the day, Take-Along Olafs will be distributed at various locations in the park. Guests are then invited to take Olaf along with them on their Disney's Hollywood Studios adventures. By sharing their photos with the unique hashtag #OlafSummerVacation, their photos may appear on the big screen in this special pre-show feature.

Frozen Fireworks: At 9:45 each evening, the giant Sorcerer Mickey Hat on Hollywood Blvd. gets the full Frozen treatment with special projections of snow and ice images, in an eye-popping spectacular above Hollywood Blvd. Set to the film's soundtrack, the fireworks show will feature some special guests - including a very magical appearance from Elsa in which she will show how her powers flurry "through the air and to the ground" to produce magically icy blue and white gleaming fireworks.

More Frozen Fun! The Frozen festivities do not end at Disney's Hollywood Studios! At Magic Kingdom, fans can get immersed in these "Frozen" fantasies:

-- Meet Anna and Elsa inside Princess Fairytale Hall in Fantasyland
-- Anna and Elsa appear in the new daytime spectacular "Disney Festival of Fantasy Parade"
-- The "Celebrate the Magic" nighttime projection show transforms Cinderella Castle with visuals from "Frozen."

New Star Tours Video

(originally published on Official Disney Parks Blog)

New Star Tours Video Makes Us Ask: Where Will the New Star Tours Attraction Take Us?

Last year, Disney Parks fans learned that "The Adventures Continue" with the return of a new Star Tours attraction in both California and Florida in 2011. Earlier today at the Star Wars Celebration V fan event, Star Wars fans caught a first glimpse of a new video that will appear in the queue area of the reimagined Star Tours attraction in Disneyland park and Disney's Hollywood Studios next year. The video produced by Star Tours is a new "commercial" that shows one of their exciting getaway travel packages.

Today we're also giving our Disney Parks Blog readers a peek at the video before it appears in the queue next year. While Star Tours now offers flights to new destinations, we cannot confirm that you will travel to any of the destinations shown in this video . . .

param name="FlashVars" value="playerMode=embedded" />

Since many Disney Parks fans know the new Star Tours attraction will take place between the two sets of Star Wars Trilogies, and that Star Tours can now take guests to more places in the Star Wars galaxy, what do you think of this video? Is there a destination you hope to visit on the new attraction when it opens next year?

Star Tours fans should also know that there's still a chance to ride the original attraction for one of the last times in Florida. You can purchase your "Last Tour to Endor" tickets at www.StarWarsCelebration.com/Disney and also at the Disney Parks Merchandise booth at Star Wars Celebration V.

‘Last Tour to Endor’ Party During Star Wars Celebration V Lets Guests Be ‘the First Among the Last’ to Experience Star Tours at Disney’s Hollywood Studios Theme Park

LAKE BUENA VISTA, Fla. -- When Darth Vader moonwalks and Donald Duck sports Imperial stormtrooper armor, something special must be happening.

With a heaping helping of Disney magic, the Star Wars galaxy will descend upon Walt Disney World Resort from 8 p.m.-1 a.m. on Aug. 14, 2010, for an exclusive party to let fans of the sci-fi saga provide a special send-off to Star Tours before the popular attraction "powers down" in preparation for a new, 3-D Star Wars adventure that will open in 2011 at Disneyland park in California and Disney's Hollywood Studios in Florida.

But before the blaster doors on the attraction close temporarily, Disney's Hollywood Studios theme park will host "Last Tour to Endor," an after-hours, private event that will feature live entertainment, Disney characters in their favorite Star Wars attire, a special Star Wars-themed fireworks spectacular, the "Death Star Disco," Jedi Training Academy, Star Wars trivia challenges and more.

And yes, Darth Vader may even moonwalk.

The Dark Lord of the Sith and his stormtroopers, known to many Disney guests for their Michael Jackson-like dance moves to songs like "Thriller" and "Beat It" during the popular "Hyperspace Hoopla" at the park's annual Star Wars Weekends event, will take the stage during the "Last Tour to Endor" for a special edition of "Hyperspace Hoopla." They will be joined by a cast of Star Wars characters moving and shaking to their favorite 1970s and 1980s dance tunes in the "Dance-Off with the Star Wars Stars."

"Dance-Off with the Star Wars Stars" premiered several years ago and has since become a hit not only for Star Wars Weekends guests each year, but also for millions more on YouTube. (See more detail about the "Dance-Off" at the "Last Tour to Endor" party below, including the scheduled cast of characters and tune selections.)

And while the Star Tours attraction serves as the galactic centerpiece of the celebration, "Last Tour to Endor" guests also will be able to enjoy other Disney's Hollywood Studios attractions during the evening, including The Twilight Zone™ Tower of Terror, Rock 'n' Roller Coaster Starring Aerosmith, "The American Idol Experience," Toy Story Mania!, The Great Movie Ride and more.

"Last Tour to Endor" tickets are $75 in advance, and will be $89 at the gate (if available). Advance tickets may be purchased online at starwarscelebration.com.

Here are some other fast facts about the "Last Tour to Endor" party*:

• This is the largest private party ever held during a Star Wars Celebration.
• Fans are encouraged to get into the Star Wars spirit and dress in their favorite Star Wars costume for the event.
• Special Star Wars-themed entertainment, created just for this party, will be showcased throughout evening.
• Last Tour to Endor" event-exclusive memorabilia, collectibles and merchandise will be available for purchase at the party.
• Just like during Star Wars Weekends, Mickey Mouse and his pals plan to join the fun by dressing up as their favorite saga characters. Mickey Mouse becomes Jedi Mickey; Donald Duck becomes Stormtrooper Donald; Goofy does his best Darth Vader impersonation, and Minnie Mouse dons a honeybun-style wig and white dress in honor of Princess Leia.
• Free round-trip shuttles to the event from the Orange County Convention Center will be offered for Star Wars Celebration attendees.
• A salute to the Star Tours attraction will cap the evening in grand fashion.
• While the party officially begins at 8 p.m., "Last Tour to Endor" ticket holders can get a head-start on their theme park fun and enter Disney's Hollywood Studios as early as 4 p.m.
• Hyperspace Hoopla" will feature Star Wars characters stepping outside of their galaxy and putting on a display of dancing like never before. Here's the lineup scheduled for the "Last Tour of Endor" party:

"Grease is the word" that Chewie heard: Chewbacca, Han Solo and the Jawas put on their dancing shoes (except Chewbacca, of course, who will be frantically moving his furry feet) and perform a tune from the 1978 hit movie-musical "Grease." In fact, Rebel spies have provided initial intel that Chewbacca's fur will be fashioned into a 1950s pompadour hairstyle just for the occasion.

"Nobody puts Leia in a corner": Luke Skywalker and Princess Leia will go back to the 1980s with a dance number from the box-office hit "Dirty Dancing."

"Strike a pose, there's nothing to it": Some of the most famous females from the Star Wars saga -- including Queen Amidala, Ahsoka Tano, Zam Wessel and Aurra Sing -- will join forces for an ensemble dance number set to one of the biggest pop hits by the "material girl" herself, Madonna.

King of Pop, or King of the Dark Side?: Returning by popular demand will be Darth Vader and his crew of dancing stormtroopers, cutting a rug (and no, not cutting it with a light saber) to a hit medley from the King of Pop, Michael Jackson. At previous "Hyperspace Hooplas," the Dark Lord has been known to even don a single, sequined glove as he channels the iconic music superstar.

The new game greeting guests, "Rex and Trixie's Dino Darts," invites riders to shoot their virtual darts at all-new balloon targets in a primeval world filled with volcanoes and lava balloons, explained Sue Bryan, senior show producer, director, Walt Disney Imagineering.

Game players are welcomed by Rex (the nervous Tyrannosaurus rex) and his new friend Trixie (a blue Triceratops and one of the toy characters from the new film) cheering them on. The new game (it replaces "Bo Peep's Baaa-loon Pop") turns up the fun with more hidden surprises and the potential for volcanic levels of excitement. Other changes:

The "Hamm & Eggs" game is now hosted by Hamm and Buttercup (a toy unicorn with heart-shaped nostrils).

In the prize scene, Trixie, Buttercup, Dolly (a doll), Mr. Pricklepants (a lederhosen-clad hedgehog) and one other surprise - all from "Toy Story 3" - appear with Woody and Jessie.

"Our number-one goal in creating Toy Story Mania! was to come up with game-play challenges appropriate for all guests, from little kids to serious gamers," Bryan said. "I love that we are keeping things fresh and new by adding these great new friends and fun to join some of the most popular characters of all time."

About Toy Story Mania!

In the timeless tradition of Disney storytelling, Toy Story Mania! takes its inspiration from the fact that Andy's toys spring to life whenever he is away. Soon after Andy got a "Midway Games Play Set" for his latest birthday, the toys jumped at their first chance to open the box and set up the game booths and carnival trams so everyone could ride and play. That means "no assembly required" for their game-playing guests - just nonstop fun. (That is, until Andy gets home!)

Arriving guests are welcomed by Mr. Potato Head, more than five feet tall and looking like he stepped right down from the movie screen. The state-of-the-art Audio-Animatronics Mr. Potato Head makes a perfect carnival barker, capable of engaging guests in two-way conversation and encouraging them to "step right up" for the immersive Toy Story Mania! experience.

Everyone gets a front row seat when guests put on their 3-D glasses, "shrink" to the size of a toy, and board Toy Story Mania! carnival tram ride vehicles which add a huge amount of fun to the interactive experience. The exciting and colorful route takes guests through "Andy's Bedroom" filled with oversized murals and toys. The vehicles angle to face Toy Story Mania! game booths - high-tech yet rooted in classic midway games of skill - and guests aim for 3-D animated targets using their own on-board spring-action shooters. Players pair up and sit side-by-side for a friendly competition that delivers an ever-changing variety of targets and surprises.

As they play, guests can actually see the "virtual" objects they've launched leave their
spring-action shooters and hit (or miss) the targets. And thanks to 4-D special-effects technology, they may sense objects whirring past them as they pop out of the 3-D scenes.

The Toy Story Mania! games - five of them, plus an introductory practice round - are designed to be enjoyed by audiences of all ages and skills, from beginners to experienced gamers. Play is energized by the spirit of the "Toy Story" characters cast in games that best suit their very animated personalities.

No matter how many times guests return to ride and play, they can be sure every ride-through will seem different.

Pixar Animation Studies created animation of the new characters plus animation for "Rex and Trixie's Dino Darts." New music - a dino-themed version of Randy Newman's "You've Got a Friend in Me" - comes from veteran music editor and Newman collaborator Bruno Coon, who did the original music for the attraction.

Toy Story Mania! was the first time that Walt Disney Imagineering created an attraction for two Disney parks simultaneously. The attraction opened in California and Florida in 2008.

'‘The American Idol Experience’ Attraction Celebrates First Year with ‘Dream Ticket’ Recipient Among TV Show’s Top Five Finalists

LAKE BUENA VISTA, Fla. - In addition to recently celebrating its first year of operation in February 2010, "The American Idol Experience" attraction at Walt Disney World Resort can now celebrate the success of one of its top vote-getters - Aaron Kelly. The 17-year-old crooner from Sonestown, Penn., who began his "American Idol" journey at the Disney Parks attraction, advanced to the Top Five in the finals during season nine of the "American Idol" television show.

"The American Idol Experience," which officially opened Feb. 14, 2009, at Disney's Hollywood Studios, is the first and only theme park attraction in the world based on the smash-hit "American Idol" show. The attraction provides guests the thrill and pageantry of the television show, as excited theme park guests age 14 and older audition before Disney producers and directors to see if they have what it takes to perform on stage that day. If their auditions are successful, guests at the attraction are ushered through performance coaching sessions, cosmetology and stage rehearsals to prepare for their big moment on the theme park stage. Then, the lights go down and guests perform a hit tune in the theme park's 1000+-seat theatre.

While on-stage, judges provide critique and audience members at each preliminary show determine who will advance to the attraction's grand finale show that night. At the grand finale, the top vote-getter is awarded a "Dream Ticket," a ticket that allows an eligible guest to schedule a front of the line audition at one of the regional auditions for the "American Idol" television show.

"The American Idol Experience" attraction was developed by Walt Disney Imagineering in conjunction with FremantleMedia Enterprises (FME) and 19 TV Ltd. It is based on the hit television show "American Idol" - produced by 19 TV Ltd. and FremantleMedia North America (FMNA) - and is designed to immerse Disney's Hollywood Studios guests in the authentic feel of a live television production.

It was at Disney's Hollywood Studios that Aaron Kelly's road to "American Idol" stardom began.

Only four days after the grand opening of "The American Idol Experience" at the theme park in February 2009, Kelly put his talents on display for park guests and the attraction's judges.

Once he passed the audition stages and received the most votes at his preliminary show earlier in the day, Kelly's rendition of the Lonestar hit song "Amazed" earned him the most votes in the attraction's Grand Finale show. As that show's top vote-getter, Kelly was then awarded "The American Idol Experience" "Dream Ticket," which allowed him a front-of-line spot at a regional audition for the ninth season of the "American Idol" television show.

When the regional auditions for the popular television show were announced, Kelly utilized his "Dream Ticket" and scheduled his audition in Orlando, Fla., which started him on his "American Idol" road to stardom.

About the Dream Ticket:
Dream Ticket recipients must satisfy AMERICAN IDOL* TV program requirements in effect at time of use, such as age and residency (for Season 9 must have been between the ages of 16-28 on 6/12/09 and U.S. citizens or legal permanent U.S. residents eligible to work full-time in U.S.). Dream Ticket does not include travel, meals, lodging or other expenses.

About "The American Idol Experience" Audition:
Guests 14 or older inside Disney's Hollywood Studios may audition to sing onstage that day at the attraction, subject to requirements in FAQs at Disneyworld.com/idol. Only a few singers will be chosen to sing onstage for each show. FAQs subject to change.

This Year's ABC Super Soap Weekend the Last!

Cameron Mathison Headlines ABC-SOAPNet Super Soap Weekend at Disney's Hollywood Studios; Thorsten Kaye, Erika Slezak and Jason Thompson Join the Event

This year's event marks the last in Orlando as ABC's Daytime Division embarks on the 2009 Soap Nation Tour, a collection of nationwide initiatives designed to interact with fans more often on a year-round basis.

BURBANK, Calif. (Sept. 29, 2008) - Cameron Mathison will headline ABC-SOAPnet Super Soap Weekend Nov. 15 and 16 at Disney's Hollywood Studios at Walt Disney World Resort in Lake Buena Vista, Fla.

Also joining the stellar lineup of 30 stars from the ABC daytime dramas are Thorsten Kaye, Aiden Turner and Rebecca Budig from "All My Children," Erika Slezak, Michael Easton and Kristen Alderson from "One Life to Live," and Laura Wright, Kelly Monaco and Jason Thompson from "General Hospital." Soapnet.com will reveal the full Super Soap Weekend all-star lineup on Tuesday, Sept. 30.

This year will mark the last Super Soap Weekend in Orlando as ABC's Daytime Division embarks on the 2009 Soap Nation Tour, a collection of nationwide events designed to interact with fans on a year-round basis offering greater access to stars in more cities, more often. The final Walt Disney World weekend will be dedicated to the fans with special retrospectives and exclusive productions.

This year, special trivia and commemorative clip packages honoring the 45th anniversary of "General Hospital," the 40th anniversary of "One Life to Live," "All My Children's" 10,000th episode, and past Super Soap Weekends will be shown during the event. Super Soap Weekend will become more interactive than ever before with the introduction of new mobile programs and text trivia. A special musical number will be developed for Colgate Total Street Jam that honors the final event, as well.

Throughout the weekend, fans will have the opportunity to meet favorite stars from "All My Children," "One Life to Live" and "General Hospital." Festivities include celebrity motorcades, autograph sessions, game shows, interviews and the chance to purchase one-of-a-kind memorabilia from each of the shows. The Colgate Total Street Jam will close the event each day with live musical performances by some favorite daytime stars. Colgate Total toothpaste has served as the presenting sponsor of the event for nine consecutive years.

"We recognize that we live in a 'Soap Nation' - from primetime soaps to daytime soaps to reality and celebrity soaps, they are all around us. The 2009 tour will be a collection of coast-to-coast fan-based events that will ignite our 'Soap Nation'," said Brian Frons, president, Daytime Disney-ABC Television Group.

"Our fans have told us that they want us in their neighborhoods so we are traveling our daytime talent to better serve them. The new year will bring new ways we will involve our stars in more events, in more cities, more often." Frons continued, "We thank Walt Disney World for being a wonderful host and partner and look forward to our plans to send Super Soap off with a bang and the celebration it deserves."

"We have certainly enjoyed hosting the ABC soap stars - and their fans - over the years, and we're going to make sure this year's event is a fitting finale," said Rilous Carter, vice president, Disney's Hollywood Studios.

Confirmed events within the 2009 Soap Nation Tour that support the new effort begin on the West Coast with the maiden voyage of SOAPnet Presents Rock the Soap, a three-day cruise (from Los Angeles to Mexico) hosted by Bob Guiney and filled with top daytime stars including Rebecca Budig, Thorsten Kaye, Jason Thompson, Kelly Monaco, Kassie DePaiva and Bree Williamson, featuring musical performances, autograph sessions and parties. More information about the event can be found at www.rockthesoap.com; new contests will be developed to provide trips to New York so winners can attend "Broadway Cares," a one night musical celebration featuring daytime stars; and continued participation in the CMA's Music Festival with stars attending the event weekend. Additional information regarding new fan experiences and expanded affiliate events will be released next year.

ABC-SOAPnet Super Soap Weekend is included with theme park admission to Disney's Hollywood Studios, where guests of all ages are caught up in the glitz, glamour and excitement of show business. Green Army Men characters at Disney’s Hollywood Studios.

IT'S NOT EASY BEING GREEN

A trio of Green Army Men characters from the Disney-Pixar animated films "Toy Story" and "Toy Story 2" march through "Pixar Place" at Disney's Hollywood Studios.

The newest addition to Disney's Hollywood Studios, "Pixar Place" is modeled after Pixar Animation Studios in Emeryville, Calif. The street is adorned with larger-than-life versions of classic childhood toys and games, including Barrel of Monkeys, Scrabble and Battleship. "Pixar Place" is also home to "Toy Story Mania!," a cutting-edge ride-through attraction that combines the fun of a video game with 4-D technology and interaction with favorite Disney-Pixar stars.
