Trattoria al Forno Replaces Kouzzina at Boardwalk

Disney has announced that Italy will replace Greece on the Boardwalk starting in December 2014.

Look for simple foods "trattoria" baked in an oven (al forno) at the new eatery serving dishes from Italy's various regions. Everything from Neopolitan pizzas, to pork chop alla Milanese, to house-made cavatelli, polenta and much more. For vegetarians - ruffled campanelle pasta with green beans, roasted potatoes and Genovese pesto. A seasonal risotto will always be on the menu. Paper-thin Italian meets, olives, caponata, pastas, fresh seafood and vegetables will all be part of the dining experience.

Of course, no restaurant would be complete without Italian desserts such as tiramisu, panna cotta, gelatos, and the signature bomboloni (Italian donut holes) with dark chocolate and vanilla gelato.

Wines will all be from around Italy including Tuscany, Veneto and Piedmont. Over 25 wines by the glass and over 60 different bottles. There will even be a signature-blend Italian coffee roasted just for the Trattoria.

Kouzzina closes September 30, 2014.

More details as they are released.

A Frightfully Good Time Awaits Disney Cruise Line Guests this Halloween

Disney Cruise Line will treat guests sailing this fall to a wickedly good time as the Disney ships transform into a ghoulish wonderland filled with frightfully fun events and activities, special decorations, unique menu items in the restaurants and themed parties on deck.

In 2014, Halloween on the High Seas takes place on most voyages aboard all Disney Cruise Line ships from September through October. This extra-spooky celebration features Halloween-themed parties, lively entertainment and elaborate décor, including The Pumpkin Tree, which magically transforms throughout the cruise.

Other special experiences include:

Mickey's Mouse-querade Party, a celebration in addition to Pirate Night with games, dancing and lots of candy! Beloved Disney characters, wearing special Halloween costumes just for the occasion, will join guests for this fun-filled costume party.

A Nightmare Before Christmas-Sing and Scream, an interactive movie experience where guests are part of the action, followed by a meet-and-greet with Jack Skellington and Sally.

Haunted Stories of the Sea, where the bravest cruisers gather under the stars to hear some true-or not so true-tales of the sea told by a mysterious sea captain storyteller.

Creepy Cabaret, a party in the atrium featuring favorite Halloween-themed music performed live by a band of ghostly musicians.

Halloween Isn't Just For Kids: For adults, the nighttime entertainment district on each Disney ship becomes the ghoulish setting for a costume contest and a Villainous Takeover on the dance floor.

Spooky Movies: To get guests into the spirit of the season, Halloween-themed movies will be shown in Buena Vista Theatre, on Funnel Vision by the family pool and in guest staterooms.

Ghoulish Delights: Disney Cruise Line chefs have conjured some very special treats for Halloween, including chocolate cake with pumpkin filling, spider cakes and "Spooky Juice."

More spooky fun includes mask-making and a ghostly takeover of the ship announcements!

Disneyland Resort Marks 59 Years of Fun and Innovation

Diamond Celebration Logo Unveiled and Contest Announced for Guests to Share Favorite Memories from Six Decades

ANAHEIM, Calif. (July 17, 2014) - When Walt Disney opened Disneyland on July 17, 1955, it had 18 attractions, no Disney hotels and little but orange groves surrounding it. Today, as the Disneyland Resort celebrates its 59th anniversary, the original theme park has expanded to become a world-class family resort destination with two renowned Disney parks, nearly 100 attractions, three hotels and the shopping, dining and entertainment district known as Downtown Disney. And in the spring of 2015, the resort will launch a dazzling yearlong Diamond Celebration that salutes 60 years of magic.

"It's an incredible time at the Disneyland Resort as we prepare for next year's Diamond Celebration," said Michael Colglazier, president, Disneyland Resort. "We're excited to honor our rich history, to celebrate the incredible magic that fills our resort today, and to create unforgettable memories with our guests for many years to come."

As part of today's festivities, Disney invited the generations of families and friends who have visited the resort to share their favorite memories through photos taken at the Disneyland Resort. Readers of the DisneyParksBlog will vote for the top photos and one lucky guest will have a chance to win a trip to the Disneyland Resort for the start of the 60th anniversary celebration in Spring 2015.* Starting today, guests are invited to submit photos that represent their memories from the Disneyland Decades - 1950s, 60s, 70s, 80s, 90s and 2000 to the present. Using hashtag #Disneyland60Contest, guests may share their photos via Twitter or Instagram by August 27, 2014. For complete rules, go to DisneyParksBlog.com.

Also today, the Diamond Celebration logo was unveiled as part of the annual July 17 anniversary celebration at Disneyland Park. Guests joined 59 Disney characters on Main Street, U.S.A., to hear a recording of Walt Disney's opening day "welcome" speech and sing "Happy Birthday" in a festive marking of the 59th anniversary.

The popularity of Disneyland through the past 59 years celebrates Walt Disney's dream of a place where family members of all ages can have fun together in a safe, clean atmosphere that emphasizes imagination and extraordinary guest service. Since 1955, dignitaries, heads of state, celebrities and more than 700 million guests have passed through the gates of a place that Walt imagined as "a source of joy and inspiration to the world."

Disneyland transformed the amusement industry with an entirely new concept in family entertainment: a "theme park" where rides, shows and characters become part of a total storytelling environment. In the nearly six decades since it opened, the Disneyland Resort has continued to use creativity, technology and innovation to bring stories to life, while fulfilling Walt's promise that "Disneyland will never be completed " as long as there is imagination left in the world."

Villains Unleashed - More Event Details

Disney has released more specific details about the Villains Unleashed event on August 23rd at Disney's Hollywood Studios.

Hades Hangout - The party kicks off at 8 p.m. at the main event stage, where hosts Hades, Megara, Pain and Panic are killing 'em with comedy. They're joined throughout the night by the Underworld Dancers, DJ Igg Nite, live music from Bernie Briquette and Brimstone, and a rogues gallery of roaming rottens, from the Queen of Hearts and Sheriff of Nottingham to the Big Bad Wolf and Captain Hook.

Villains Dominion - For this one special night, the Streets of America area of the park will be swarming with baddies. Here, you'll have the opportunity to meet favorites like Cruella De Vil, Jafar, Dr. Facilier and Gaston, along with more rarely seen baddies such as Shan Yu from "Mulan," Bowler Hat Guy from "Meet the Robinsons," or Captain Gantu and Dr. Hämsterviel from "Lilo & Stitch: The Series." In addition to these dedicated villain encounters, you may spot even more wandering evildoers in the area. Look for Judge Claude Frollo, Lady Tremaine, Anastasia, Drizella, and more!

The Dark Side - During "Villains Unleashed," the area around Star Tours - The Adventures Continue becomes a wretched hive of scum and villainy, the place to find nefarious bounty hunter Boba Fett, Sith apprentice Darth Maul, and the ultimate villain - Darth Vader! And that's not all! Wandering the area, you'll stumble upon more malcontents from that galaxy far, far away: Zam Wessel, Aurra Sing, Asajj Ventress, Jango Fett, Greedo, Jawas, and others.

Villainous Encounters - Visit Stage 4 (where The Legend of Captain Jack Sparrow attraction is seen during the day), and you can "Parlay" with the one and only Hector Barbossa. And just around the corner in the Animation Courtyard is where you'll discover a bit of the Moors, where you can have an audience with the mistress of all evil, Maleficent!

Oogie Boogie's Freaky Funhouse Show - Over on Sunset Boulevard, Theater of the Stars presents a production of extreme performances, hosted by the original master of scare-monies, Oogie Boogie. It's an all-new show that's sure to thrill!

Fantasmic! - Strolling up Sunset Boulevard, a gang of villainous henchmen, known as the Night Crawlers, tempt you to join them for a special pre-show to the evening's performance of Fantasmic!, itself a celebration of the power and intrigue of some of the greatest Disney villains.

"Villainy in the Sky" Fireworks - Ultimately, Hades summons Maleficent to the main event stage to close things out with a devilishly dazzling display of pyrotechnics!

And there's more! You can get a Villains ExScream Makeover with complimentary face painting at stations around Echo Lake, join in on one of the dance parties taking place in the park, and enjoy a wicked cabaret atmosphere - not to mention some delectable, small-plate menu items - at Club Evil in the Hollywood Brown Derby.

BURBANK, Calif. - JULY 29, 2014 - To celebrate 23 issues of its collectible publication, Disney twenty-three, D23: The Official Disney Fan Club circles the planet to experience Disney's worlds from Europe, South America, and Asia to the fantastical fictional realms of San Fransokyo and Once Upon a Time's Enchanted Forest. The cover of the issue features a spectacular photo mosaic with a classic image of Walt and Roy O.
