TOKYO, Japan. (April 7, 2010) – Disney Vacation Club announced today that its first international sales preview center will offer Tokyo-area residents and visitors a convenient and exciting way to learn firsthand about Disney Vacation Club, an innovative vacation-ownership program that helps families enjoy flexibility and savings on decades of future vacations. As Disney affinity is very high in Japan, the Tokyo market is an ideal international entryway for the Disney Vacation Club brand.

“We are thrilled to announce our first ever international sales preview center in one of Disney’s most popular markets and to bring the magic of Disney Vacation Club to Tokyo,” said Disney Vacation Club President Jim Lewis. “Our new sales center at the Tokyo Disney Resort is ideal for bringing our timeshare brand to a whole new group of families looking to vacation at our Disney Vacation Club Resort hotels, including Aulani, Disney Vacation Club Villas in Ko Olina, Hawai’i, and at more than 500 other destinations worldwide.”

The new Disney Vacation Club presence at the Tokyo Disney Resort is scheduled to include an approximately 15,000 sq. ft sales preview center at the Ikspiari shopping complex, as well as information centers located throughout the theme parks and hotels. The new sales preview center is planned to showcase the accommodations at Disney Vacation Club Resort hotels, most of which offer home-like amenities such as a full kitchen and a washer and dryer. The spacious room sizes range from a studio with approximately 350 sq. ft. to a grand villa with approximately 2,100 sq. ft. Disney Vacation Club’s convenient location in Tokyo will give visitors a glimpse of the vacation choices they have, from a magical stay at the Walt Disney World Resort or a relaxing cruise aboard a Disney Cruise Line ship to a family-friendly, interactive Adventures by Disney trip or a jaunt to more than 500 other popular vacation locations around the world.

“Our first two offsite sales preview center locations have been very popular and a great way for Chicago- and New York-area residents and visitors to learn more about the family vacation experiences available with Disney and beyond,” said Disney Vacation Club President Jim Lewis. “Now, we are delighted to bring Disney Vacation Club to Tokyo so that even more people can share the experience of vacation ownership. Disney Vacation Club offers families a new way to vacation and shows that additional space in the room can lead to even more relaxation during the vacation.”

To help families envision just what those vacations will entail, the Disney Vacation Club sales preview center is planned to feature a full-scale, 1,336 sq. ft. two-bedroom model of the vacation home accommodations Disney Vacation Club members and their families can expect to find on the island of O’ahu at Aulani, Disney Vacation Club Villas, Ko Olina, Hawai’i.

“Disney changed the industry by bringing the vacation experience to a local shopping location,” said Howard C. Nusbaum, president and chief executive officer of the American Resort Development Association (ARDA). “Now, the new Disney Vacation Club sales preview center in Tokyo will give Japanese families the opportunity to see how timeshare accommodations differ from traditional hotel rooms.”

Designed to create a fun and immersive experience, the Disney Vacation Club sales preview center is planned to go beyond featuring model accommodations to offer an interactive family vacation discovery zone, comfortable discussion areas and a supervised children’s play area within its approximately 15,000 sq. ft. of retail space. At full operation, plans call for the Disney Vacation Club sales preview center to employ a total of 65 people.
