Disney ‘Round the USA and Canada — Sunday, May 1, 2011

Today is our second and final sea day on the Pacific Coast repo cruise from LA to Vancouver.

This morning, 28 Disney Wonder cruisers joined me in a walk to raise awareness of Breast Cancer – in solidarity with the Washington DC Avon Walk for Breast Cancer, held this same weekend. In Washington, over $5 million was raised, much of which goes back to the Washington DC community in grants for service delivery and research.

We gathered at 8am and walked around the Disney Wonder, some one lap, others 2 miles. It was very windy with rough seas and in the low 50s – but that is nothing compared to chemo or hearing you have cancer.

I was honored and proud to walk with fellow survivors, those touched by breast cancer and those who care deeply about the cause. They certainly had other choices on their vacation instead of getting up early to walk.

My heart and thoughts and congratulations to my team the Seneca Sisters in Washington DC – top fundraising team with $133,980+++. They carried my full size Pink Ribbon Flag for 2 days and 39 miles.

Special shout out to my fellow survivor Mary Newell, wife of WDW Today podcaster and MouseWorldRadio’s Mike Newell for once again walking 39 miles in the Washington DC Avon Walk for Breast Cancer!

Your generous support enabled me to once again be the Number 1 fundraiser in Washington DC, with over $77,000! Mega kudos to Team AllEars – who Run with Purpose who raised a large portion of this money!

WE ARE IN IT TO END IT!!!!!!

  1. Hi Deb!
Annie just passed along these photos and I had to say hello! China is great but I miss you and the Avon Walk too. If I stay here long enough (and make some money) I may just have to bring over a team China! People like you are the reason we have to find a cure.

  2. Deb, I am enjoying your vacation via your blog and twitter. I love your vacation photos at the amazing redwoods at Muir Woods before your Alaskan cru…ise.

I wish that I could have been on your Walk the Deck to fight Breast Cancer. What a great group on the cruise. I really miss being there with you on those walks because you always included me as Rolling, Strolling, Walking the Deck to fight Breast Cancer.

I lost all of those photos when my computer crashed.

Say hello to Linda and Beci for me. And Happy Birthday, Gary and hello, Carol. I wish I knew the other guests names…but you know me and my terrible memory with names…lol.

    Most Sincerely, Ray 🙂
