Decoding Disney World’s Pirates of the Caribbean Restaurant Announcement

You should know by now we’re true sleuthers, and when we want to know the ins and outs of something that concerns Disney, there’s not much that will get in our way of finding it out!

Pirates of the Caribbean

It wasn’t too long ago that Disney first got us up excited over the news that a new Pirates of the Caribbean restaurant was coming to Disney World. Since then, we’ve also had a chance to take a look at a few concept art drawings of things we can expect to find within it (which gave us ample time to soul-search what we REALLY want to see in this new restaurant). But even with that much information, we want more! We’re taking a deep dive into what Disney has announced so far to decode any further secrets.

While there’s still a lot to be known about this new restaurant (including major things like its name, where it will be located, and when we can expect it to be opened!) there are a few things that we think we can decode in the details that Disney has shared already. Let’s start by taking a look at what Disney has already teased in the concept art!

Ok, already it seems that we’re in for a real roundhouse of fun! The barker bird is front and center and looks to be at the helm of the ship. Could this be a clue that the BIRD is in charge here or just really knows all the seedy happenings that may take place in this establishment? He’s a notable addition to the classic attraction, so leaving him out of the new restaurant would be a true travesty.

Another thing that stood out to us ( I mean, how could you miss it?) was that single pirate toward the middle with the red hair. Could it be that the dreaded pirate Redd may make an appearance in this new place, too? It’s almost like a reunion at this point!

She’s an icon!

While it’s not terribly noticeable from the minimal concept art we have, we do know from their announcement that this will be a “lounge”. So when we think of “lounge” space, we immediately start thinking of somewhere that’s not terribly large like a full quick-service restaurant would be.

Tortuga Tavern

Could we be in for a mutiny among the pirates and see the existing Tortuga Tavern reimagined into this new lounge space? Or could we even see it expanded? Seems like we’ve just got to wait a bit longer for confirmation of that one.

It also appears that most of these pirates seem to be in good spirits and singing, just like their (potential) counterparts in the ride.

What Do You Hear?

Somehow this makes us think this rowdy place might just be welcoming to those who wish to sing the pirate tunes and anthems.

We’ll be keeping a close watch over the progress and ways this new lounge may change from its initial concept to realization in Disney World! Be sure to check back in with us soon for the latest!

  1. My best guess for this would be an immersive style bar like Oga’s Cantina. The Barker Bird can fit in nicely as an animatronic host, similar to DJ R-3X at Oga’s..occasionally starting up a shanty or other on-theme song.
I think this goes really well with the Pirates theming and would add something new to Magic Kingdom.
