4 Ways Harry Potter Land Will CHANGE at Universal Orlando

CHANGES are coming to Universal Orlando, and we couldn’t be more excited!

Universal Orlando Resort

Universal Epic Universe is a new theme park set to open in 2025, and it’s going to expand the resort significantly. We’ll be getting new rides, restaurants, shops, and even hotels with the addition of the Epic Universe property, and we can’t wait to explore it all. But with the updates will also be some changes to The Wizarding World of Harry Potter!

The Wizarding World of Harry Potter is the name that Universal Orlando uses to describe the Harry Potter lands located in its theme parks. Currently, it’s comprised of Diagon Alley in Universal Studios Florida and Hogsmeade Village in Universal’s Islands of Adventure.

However, The Wizarding World of Harry Potter is changing soon in multiple ways! Let’s dive into the details.

It Will Get Bigger

First of all, the Wizarding World is expanding! With the opening of Epic Universe, we’ll be getting a THIRD Harry Potter-themed land, this time dedicated to the Ministry of Magic.

Universal Orlando confirmed this new land in January 2023, noting that it will allow visitors to explore both the British Ministry of Magic and the Ministry of Magic in Paris from the Fantastic Beasts films.

It’s Getting Another Ride

Along with the new land in Epic Universe, we’ll also be getting a brand-new ride! It sounds like it’s going to be a pretty amazing one, too, as Universal promised it “has to be a surprise,” and thus aren’t sharing any details just yet.

The E-Ticket attraction is rumored to take place inside the British Ministry of Magic as seen in the original Potter books and films. Allegedly, guests will be transported from Paris to London through the magical Floo Network transportation system. Once they arrive, they’ll be whisked onto magic “elevators” — the next generation of the Scoop vehicle system seen on The Amazing Adventures of Spider-Man and Transformers rides — on an adventure featuring Dolores Umbridge as its primary antagonist.

Universal hasn’t confirmed this information about the ride yet, but we’ll be on the lookout for specific updates.

It’s Going Back in Time

You know how we mentioned the new land will feature both the British and French Ministries? Well, since the French Ministry of Magic is featured in the Fantastic Beast films, which are technically prequels to the Harry Potter books/movies, that particular section of the land will be set in the 1920s.

The British Ministry of Magic will be in time with the Harry Potter franchise, so it’ll be set in the 1990s. We’ll be interested to see how Universal blends these two time periods within the land — will we be doing some time traveling?!

The Established Sections Are Getting Some Updates

In the already-established parts of the Wizarding World, there will be a few updates as well! A recent permit indicated that Universal is planning to do some work on the windows in the Harry Potter lands. That may seem like dull work, but consider what the windows DO in those two lands.

Many of the windows in Diagon Alley and Hogsmeade are home to interactive spells for those who purchase interactive wands as souvenirs. If the windows are getting updated, is it possible we could see new or improved spells in the lands? Sometimes those features are a little bit finicky.

We might be getting some updated spells!

We’ll make sure to keep you updated if any more changes are announced for The Wizarding World of Harry Potter at Universal Orlando. Stay tuned to AllEars for the latest!
