How Do You Get Banned From Disney World?

Disney World is such a magical place, and most guests want to keep that atmosphere for themselves and everyone around them.

Magic Kingdom

However, some things can disrupt the magic pretty quickly, and Disney doesn’t stand for those things. Even if you think a Cast Member can’t see you, the parks have cameras all over the place, as well as security (including undercover security guards who are dressed like normal guests), so if you disrupt the flow of things around you, it’s likely to get noticed very quickly. And we’re not just talking about cringey things that may make the people around you give you a side glance, we mean BAD things. While Disney doesn’t enjoy doing it, they will ban guests from their parks — here’s how you can make sure it never happens to you.

Before we begin, we want to say that the easiest way to avoid any potential punishment in Disney is to just follow the rules. It’s that simple! If you’re concerned about something, ask a nearby Cast Member for assistance or clarification.

Acting Inappropriately

Now, this is a bit of a broad point, but we’ll break it down. Any time you act inappropriately in the parks, toward other guests, or toward Cast Members, is grounds for being banned.

Disney Springs

This includes things like cutting in lines, starting fights with other individuals, going where you’re not supposed to (like fountains…yes, it’s happened), and just overall disrupting the days of those around you.

Fantasyland Crowds

Disney takes being kind and courteous to other guests and Cast Members very seriously, so even though we understand that sometimes things can be frustrating or confusing in the parks, it is never okay to set out to hurt someone, verbally, emotionally, or physically, in any way, and you may find yourself banned very quickly.

Not Following Safety Procedures

Disney has their safety procedures in place for a reason, and even if we as the guest think they’re silly or that they don’t make sense, it’s imperative that we follow them. Not doing so can not only get guests hurt, but can be grounds for banishment from the parks.

Why? Because by not following safety rules, you’re putting yourself, and everyone around you, in danger. This includes other guests, and the Cast Members/security guards that will be frantically telling you to stop and follow the directions they’re giving you.

Cast Members evacuating Splash Mountain

This is especially important when it comes to paying attention to signs that tell you not to swim in the bodies of water around Disney World, as well as any ride malfunctions. Cast Members know how to safely evacuate guests off of rides, so even though you may be scared or think it’s better another way, always listen to the Cast Members.

Going Backstage Where You’re Not Supposed To

Disney does a great job of keeping their guests immersed in the magic, and keeping their attention away from backstage areas and where they’re not supposed to be looking.

That’s why, if you purposely go somewhere you’re not supposed to be (we say purposely because it’s VERY clear to the majority of guests, minus young children potentially, where they’re not allowed to go), you’re at risk of being banned from the parks.

Many spots Disney doesn’t want you to notice are painted “go away green”

Most Cast Member entrances and exits to backstage areas are hidden around corners where guests usually won’t go, and are marked with signage indicating it’s a backstage area. When in doubt, just check with a nearby Cast Member before walking somewhere you may be confused about (or, if you have a feeling it’s not for guests, it most likely isn’t).

Petting/Feeding Wild Animals

All around the Disney World parks you’ll find natural wildlife, like squirrels, birds, alligators, and those infamous Disney ducks. However, feeding or interacting with this wildlike is strictly prohibited, and Disney takes it very seriously.

Disney ducks!

Why is this? Well, Disney doesn’t take care of these animals — they’re just part of natural wildlife. Which means that if these animals start relying on guests to give them food, they won’t know how to survive on their own, and will also start to harass guests for bits and pieces of food.

Don’t feed the ducks!

Not to mention that lots of the food Disney serves could harm these animals. Or, in the case of alligators (which are all over Disney property, that’s why you can’t swim in the water), they could seriously harm guests.

Dressing Up As A Character and NOT Disneybounding

Unless you’re under the age of 14, you are not allowed to dress like a Disney character, and doing so could be reason for banishment. But why is this? It doesn’t hurt anyone, right?

Disneybounding!

That’s where you’re wrong, actually. If a regular park guest is going around dressed as a character, and families and children see them and genuinely think they’re that character/hired by Disney to play that character, and the individual is rude, unkind, or otherwise inappropriate to that family, things get bad really fast.

We love a Minnie Skirt

Disney employees are trained very, very extensively on how to interact with guests, especially if they’re really close friends with a certain character. So if a guest, who has no training in that field, is to imitate a character, you can see why Disney would be upset with that.

That’s why we love Disneybounding in the parks! It’s a great way to have the same vibe as a certain character, and dress sort-of similar, but no one will mistake you for a Disney employee. We have tons of Disneybounding ideas on AllEars Style that you can check out!
