NEW Disney Permit Reveals Star Wars Hotel Building CHANGES

The Star Wars Galactic Starcruiser at Disney World closed in the fall of 2023.

The Galactic Starcruiser, a.k.a. the Star Wars Hotel, was an all-immersive experience that took you through the galaxy on a cruise like no other. You got to participate and live out your Star Wars dreams with the Cast Members. Sadly, due to the lack of profitability, the hotel was shut down less than 2 years from its opening. But now, we noticed a new permit was filed for the location of the abandoned hotel!

The Star Wars hotel has been very quiet since its closing. We haven’t heard or seen any news about what will happen to the building now that it’s no longer serving as the hotel. However, Disney did send out a special survey to fans after it closed to get feedback from guests who had stayed there, potentially hinting at a return of the hotel or something similar.

Many fans have been sad that they will never have the chance to experience the cruise-like excursion and those that did get to stay there are disappointed they’ll never have another chance. We’ve noticed several fans of the hotel creating meet-ups and events to celebrate the essence of the hotel.

Josh D’Amaro, Chairman of Disney Experiences, shared an insight into why the Starcruiser had closed in the first place mentioning that it, “didn’t perform exactly like we wanted it to perform.” He also shared that it was a boutique hotel, and while it performed well, it was small in the context of contributing to the overall capacity of Disney World.

But now, a new permit has been filed for the property! There is no solid explanation as to what might be coming, but this permit, pulled from the Orange County Comptroller, indicates that Disney hasn’t completely left behind the massive concrete building. The permit indicates that general construction will be ongoing by an awning and sign company based near Orlando.

While no other information was given, it’s exciting to see that Disney must have some plans for the long, gone hotel!

  1. NO, I was saving to take my son, who’s a large Star wars fan, but before I could get enough money to do so you closed it. I was so disappointed as he was too. If it wasn’t so expensive I’m sure you would get more to stay
