12 Dates to Avoid Hollywood Studios in 2024

Disney’s Hollywood Studios is one of Disney World’s busiest parks.

Not only due to its impressively themed lands, but this is also the park with the most thrill rides. If you’re planning a trip to Disney World in 2024 and are planning to make a stop in Hollywood Studios, these are the dates we recommend you avoid!

New Year’s Day (January 1st, 2024)

New Year’s Day is always a big day in Disney World — who wouldn’t want to celebrate the New Year in the Most Magical Place on Earth?

How many people can say they rode Rise of the Resistance on the first day of the new year? Not many, but lots of people would like to!

President’s Day Weekend (February 17th to 19th)

Long weekends are usually quite busy in the parks, so you’ll want to watch out for President’s Day Weekend.

Even though many kids will have just started school back after the holidays, lots of schools take a break during this week, and families choose to take a vacation anyway to enjoy the time off — especially those up north looking to escape the cold for a few days!

Good Friday and Easter Weekend (March 29th to March 31st)

Easter hits a little earlier this year, so watch out for Good Friday and the weekend that follows.

Disney brings the Easter Bunny out in Magic Kingdom, and this is another long weekend that many families choose to visit Disney.

Star Wars Day (May 4th)

If there’s ever ONE day to really avoid Hollywood Studios, it’s Star Wars Day, which always takes place on May 4th (May the “4th” be with you).

This is a big day for Star Wars fans, and Hollywood Studios often has exclusive May the 4th snacks and merchandise that people descend on the park to line up for. So if you aren’t into that stuff, you may want to stay away.

Memorial Day Weekend (May 24th to May 27th)

The actual Memorial Day holiday is May 27th, but it’s often a 3- or 4-day weekend for many workplaces.

Not to mention that it’s the beginning of summer/the end of school for many families with kids, so they may also choose to take a vacation at this time.

Labor Day Weekend (August 31st to September 2nd)

Another 3-day weekend! Labor Day weekend is another time we suggest avoiding.

In contrast to Memorial Day, this is the last summer weekend for many families in the country, so they’ll choose to take one last vacation before their kids head back to school.

Any Jollywood Nights/After-Hours Event

Disney is introducing Jollywood Nights for the first time this year, so we’re unsure if they’ll stick around for 2024, but if they do, we recommend avoiding those days, as well as any after-hours event days.

Now, this likely isn’t for the reason you’re thinking. No, it’s not because the parks are busier these days (in fact, we’ve seen the opposite for Magic Kingdom this year), but the parks close way earlier than normal. Unless you have a party ticket (which costs extra), you may not have nearly enough time to experience everything you’re hoping to.

Christmas Eve & Christmas Day (December 24th and 25th)

You knew it would be on here — Christmas Eve and Christmas Day are also holidays to avoid being in Hollywood Studios for!

Now, many families love spending these holidays in Disney World, and we can’t argue with you! However, keep in mind that crowds on these days will be majorly intense, so plan your day accordingly.

New Year’s Eve (December 31st)

And finally, in a full circle moment, we have New Year’s Eve.

For the same reasons as New Year’s Day, who wouldn’t want to spend the last day of 2024 in Hollywood Studios? You’ll get to say you were one of the last people to ride those rides in that whole year!

Now, we’re not telling you NOT to go to the park on these days, but keep in mind that crowds very likely will be higher, lines will be longer, and you’ll need to prepare to spend a lot of time dodging people. As always, stay tuned to AllEars for all the latest Disney news!
