Did you know you could visit the Mediterranean without ever leaving Disney World?

That’s right, we’re talking about Disney’s Riviera Resort, one of the NEWEST hotels on the property. This is a Disney Vacation Club (DVC) resort, and it could be one of the most elegant hotels on property, taking its theme from its namesake, the Mediterranean Riviera.

Resort Atmosphere

As we mentioned, the Riviera is designed with an understated European theming in mind. The front of the hotel offers a boulevard lined with palm trees with walkways with French-inspired lampposts.

The main lobby features a modern, yet classic, feel PLUS you’ll find all kinds of artwork of Disney characters, styled after some of the European masters.

The hotel’s grounds feature gardens, fountains, and landscaping perfect for taking a stroll through a European garden without ever leaving Disney property.

The Riviera is also a deluxe resort, meaning that it falls under the pricier category of hotels on Disney World property. Guests staying here can take advantage of both Early Theme Park Entry and Extended Evening Hours.

Transportation

The Riviera has its own Skyliner station, meaning you can easily travel to other Skyliner hotels, as well as EPCOT and Disney’s Hollywood Studios.

This is the only Disney World deluxe hotel on the Skyliner line, so that’s a draw that makes the Riviera unique.

Dining

The Riviera is also not short on great restaurants. Topolino’s Terrace serves one of the best character breakfasts in Disney World and has become a restaurant influenced by French and Italian food for dinner.

Bar Riva is an open pool bar where you can pick up some European- and Mediterranean-inspired eats, as well as cocktails and other drinks.

Primo Piatti is the hotel’s quick-service location that serves breakfast, lunch, and dinner. You can also get grab-and-go items here. Le Petit Cafe takes inspiration from Parisian cafes and offers pastries that could double as artwork, as well as coffee and cocktails.

Shopping

If you want to do a little shopping, you can visit La Boutique to get a variety of items, as well as Riviera-specific merchandise.

But let’s talk about those rooms, shall we?

Room Tour

The Riviera has five different room types: Tower Studios, Deluxe Studios, 1-bedroom villas, 2-bedroom villas, and 3-bedroom grand villas. For this stay, we were in a 2-bedroom villa. So let’s open the door and go inside. Here’s what things look like when you turn around to stare at the door — it’s a little entryway area.

The 2-bedroom villa has one King bed, 2 Queen beds, and 1 queen pull-down bed plus a single pull-down bed. These rooms sleep up to nine adults.

You’ll find a coat rack beside the door (great for hanging up those wet ponchos from a rainy day at Disney World.)

The villa also includes a full kitchen. complete with a full stove, microwave dishwasher, and sink. There is also plenty of cabinet space above the appliances.

You’ll find a full-size coffee maker here, with coffee, tea, sugar, sweetener, cups, and lids, as well as a toaster.

If you need mugs or glasses, you’ll find plenty in the cabinet above.

You’ll also find some baking dishes.

The sink area includes a stocked paper towel rack.

There are plates and bowls in the cabinet next to the microwave.

You’ll find baking sheets inside the oven.

More plates and wine glasses are in a cabinet above the stove.

If you need knives, tongs, or a can opener, you’ll find those and other utensils in a drawer next to the stove, along with a pot holder.

Food storage containers, a measuring cup, a cutting board, and a colander are in the cabinet on the other side of the stove.

Underneath the sink, you’ll find a blue bin and cleaning supplies.

There’s another pull-out trash can beside the dishwasher.

There’s a little alcove across from the stove with a full-size refrigerator and freezer.

The cabinet above the refrigerator holds an ice bucket and pitcher.

There’s a dining area beside the fridge, with a table, a long bench, and two chairs. Above it is a mirror and a European-style still-life art piece. A decorative light fixture hangs above the table.

The bench even has drawers underneath it for storage.

The living area is HUGE and has a sofa, chairs, and a coffee table.

The stool has a hidden compartment for more storage.

There’s a little side table beside the sofa.

Even the top of the coffee table lifts up for more storage.

The two windows look out over the resort. We saw the pool area.

You can close the curtains here for more privacy, though.

On the other side of the sofa is another small table with the phone.

The artwork above the sofa is Disney-themed, but done in a European style. We love this Beauty and the Beast piece. Also, see those handles? This is also a pull-down bed.

Let’s go into a bedroom. There’s a King bed in this room.

We went straight for the large double doors that led out to the balcony. There are curtains for privacy, though.

The railing around the balcony has some great details, including hidden Mickeys.

Let’s look closer at that artwork. It’s Marie, Toulouse, and Berlioz.

There’s a lamp between the chair and the bed.

On the other side of the desk (with a drawer), as well as a lamp and chair. A mirror hangs above it. There’s also a phone here.

You’ll find a full-length mirror across from the bed.

There’s also a TV on the wall opposite the bed.

There’s a chest of drawers below the TV.

Beside the mirror is a closet with a luggage rack, shelves, and plenty of hangers.

The entrance to the bathroom is near the desk.

There’s a nice soaking tub in here, which is PERFECT for relaxing after a long day in the parks.

You’ll also find plenty of towels hanging above the tub.

You’ll find H20 bath and body products, too.

The sink area has a HUGE mirror, complete with a magnifying mirror, towels, and more.

There’s a sink, as well as facial tissues, and more H20 bath and body products.

Underneath the sink are cabinets.

You’ll find a blow dryer in one drawer.

The other drawers are empty. You’ll also find a trash can underneath.

Extra toilet paper and tissues are under the sink.

Another door leads to the toilet.

Inside that room, you’ll find the toilet, as well as a separate shower.

There was artwork inspired by The Princess and the Frog above the toilet.

The shower has both a handheld…

…but the shower itself is a rainfall shower head at the top (this is a great option for you tall folks).

There’s a shelf in the shower, too. Or, we suppose, you could sit here.

H20 shampoo, conditioner, and body wash are available.

Toilet paper and a trash can are near the toilet.

There’s another mirror and sink in this little room, too. Plus more towels.

You’ll find even more H20 products here.

Underneath is a cabinet with more space for your stuff.

Let’s head down the hall that also leads from this bathroom.

An additional closet here is basically a small utility room. Here’s where you’ll find, a washer…

…and dryer.

Even laundry detergent is provided.

But wait, there’s more. We haven’t even looked in the second bedroom yet. Here, you’ll find two Queen beds.

This room has its own balcony, too. There’s also a chair by the balcony doors with a mirror.

The table on the farthest side has empty drawers.

We loved this Mademoiselle Mouse artwork in this room.

The TV is opposite the bed, with a chest of drawers underneath it. There are also two additional chairs in the room. A trash can is also nearby.

This room also has a full-length mirror…and a door that leads to another bathroom.

This room also has a closet with hangers, a luggage rack, and shelves.

The bathroom here has a regular tub and shower.

This room also has its own sink and mirror with underneath cabinets.

In the hallway, you’ll find another closet that houses an iron, ironing board, and extra comforters.

You’ll also find a vacuum cleaner and the room safe here.

So what did we think about this room? Well, first, it’s MASSIVE — it’s bigger than a lot of apartments. Yes, it’s pricey and runs anywhere from $1500 to $2800 depending on the view and dates of your travel. But think about it — you could get 10 adults to split the price, meaning it would come to about $150 to $280 per night, which is much more reasonable.

Honestly, we didn’t want to leave the room and we even thought we’d skip going to the parks if we could just stay here and chill for a night or two. It’s THAT nice.
