6 Retired Disney World Animatronics We Miss

Do you have a favorite Disney animatronic?

The Carousel of Progress

If you’ve been to any of the Disney parks, you’ve probably seen one of the many animatronics they’ve employed throughout the years. Not all of them have been created equal and we’ve seen some pretty iconic ones come and go. Maybe we were feeling a bit nostalgic, but we wanted to dive into a list of some of the ones we’re missing extra hard right now.

Let’s go over six of the retired animatronics we miss the most:

Dreamfinder

How can you forget about Dreamfinder riding along on his Dream-Catching Machine?

Dreamfinder

Together, Dreamfinder and Figment took guests on an adventure into the imagination. It really showed you that it’s all been about that one little spark of inspiration to make those dreams come true!

Stitch from Stitch’s Great Escape

Hey there 626!

This was such a fun and mad show (half in the dark!) where Stitch would evade capture, bounce around, tickle you with his ears, and generally cause all kinds of chaos. It was a ball and we wish it was still around.

The Timekeeper

Now this one hits us in those feels for multiple reasons.

Not only was it an attraction hosted by a mad-scientist robot that took you on a wild journey into the past and the future, but it was also voiced by the iconic Robin Williams.

Dorothy and the Wicked Witch

Oh, how we miss The Great Movie Ride and all the animatronics on it…

Dorothy, Tinman, Cowardly Lion, Scarecrow and Toto, too, follow the yellow brick road to the Emerald City in a scene from the now-closed Great Movie Ride attraction at Disney’s Hollywood Studios. [The Walt Disney Company]

It really made us feel like we were off to see a certain wizard.

Buzzy

Raise your hand if you remember Cranium Command at EPCOT!

We sure do, and we can’t help but miss this show-stopper!

Skippy

Here’s another one from Stitch’s Great Escape after being repurposed from ExtraTERRORestrial Alien Encounter!

You remember Skippy and the doughnut guy, right? They appeared during that comical transport system demo. What a star.

  1. Why has my comment from 7/29 not been posted? It was about the red-haired woman in the Pirates of the Caribbean Auction scene.

    1. Hi Lynn. When comments are not approved it is for a number of reasons including, but not limited to insensitivity, inaccuracy, language, rumors, false information, etc. All comments must be linguistically appropriate for a wide audience, and generally not inflammatory or discriminatory in any way. Thanks!

  2. Wow what a ride down memory lane! I don’t know necessary about animatronics but there certainly are many attractions including The World of Motion, The World of Energy, Innovations, Honey I Shrunk the Audience, ExtraTerrorestrial, Captain EO, Kitchen Kabaret, The Living Seas and so much more!
