Why Everyone Loves Joffrey’s Shakin’ Jamaican Cold Brew

While we’re at Disney World, we will admit that we are usually much more reliant on our coffee than usual! Fortunately, Disney World comes through with a variety of coffee stands throughout the parks and resorts.

But if the thought of drinking hot coffee in 90-degree temperatures at Disney World makes your forehead sweat, you’re not alone. There’s lots of great ICED coffee to be found in Disney World! Today we’re taking a look at a Disney World fan favorite — the Joffrey’s Shakin’ Jamaican Cold Brew!

What is a Joffrey’s Shakin’ Jamaican Cold Brew?

Joffrey’s describes its Shakin’ Jamaican as “a delicious island inspired cold brew coffee with hints of caramel and vanilla, served over ice.”

You have the option of adding a flavor to your Shakin’ Jamaican for an extra charge, with choices including vanilla, caramel, Irish cream, or hazelnut syrup.

When you order a Shakin’ Jamaican Cold Brew at a Joffrey’s location in Disney World, you’ll be asked if you want cream or not. So, it’s up to you!

Can You Make a Shakin’ Jamaican Cold Brew at Home?

Many varieties of Joffrey’s Coffee that are produced for Disney World can be purchased for home use! You can buy them at Joffrey’s Coffee and Tea Company in Disney Springs, as well as online. Many Joffrey’s blends can be found on Amazon — like this Disney Mickey Mouse Classic Blend.

Joffrey’s does not sell its Shakin’ Jamaican blend packaged for home use. However, the company does sell Jamaican Me Crazy coffee.

During the pandemic shut-downs, Joffrey’s shared a recipe for Jamaican Me Crazy Cold Brew, and said it was “inspired by” the Shakin’ Jamaican Cold Brew.

Jamaican Me Crazy Cold Brew Recipe

Here is the recipe shared by Joffrey’s!

Here’s what you’ll need to make it:

• French Press or Cold Brew Maker
• Bag of Joffrey’s Jamaican Me Crazy® flavored coffee (French Press grind)
• Refrigerator

And here are the steps!

• Take the coffee grounds and insert them into the French Press or Cold Brew Maker — for a 3-cup French Press you’re going to want to use 2 ounces (4 tbsp) of coffee grounds and 10 ounces of water; for an 8-cup French Press you’re going to want to use 5.5 ounces (11 tbsp) of coffee grounds and 30 ounces of water
• Fill your French Press with the recommended amount of water (make sure the water temperature is cool or room temperature)
• Cover the French Press with plastic wrap — this captures the coffee’s aroma and ensure that it doesn’t pick up the scents of anything else in your fridge
• Place the wrapped French Press in the fridge for 14-24 hours and take a load off or start a new Netflix show because we’ve got some time to burn
• Take the French Press out of the fridge and plunge away! (Make sure you plunge slowly)
• Upon consumption, combine 1 part cold brew with 3 parts water
