There Are Only 5 Types of Hollywood Studios Fans — Which One Are You?

Disney’s Hollywood Studios is my favorite park!

Hollywood Studios

And that’s the case for a lot of the AllEars team — whether it’s because we love the IP in the park, the thrilling rides, or just that it’s all themed around film, it’s a beloved favorite here! If you’re a big Hollywood Studios fan, you have to fit into ONE of these categories — which type of fan are you?

The Genie+ Master

Hollywood Studios is one of the 2 parks we 100% recommend getting Genie+ in if you only have one day to spend in this park (the other park being Magic Kingdom). This is Disney’s pay-to-skip-the-line service that ranges from $15-$39 per person, per day.

Slinky Dog Dash

It’s a fantastic way to skip some of these LONG lines, which can get astronomical in this park, because it’s home to most of the thrill rides in the whole resort.

Galaxy’s Edge

And if you’re the Genie+ Master, you KNOW how to make the most out of this purchase. You have alarms set to book each new Lightning Lane after each 2 hour cooldown, or know to book your next one immediately after the last tap-in site for your current ride. Anyone in your group will be thankful to have you holding the reins!

Star Wars Fanatics

This one goes out to our Star Wars fans — you’ll be in HEAVEN in Hollywood Studios, because Galaxy’s Edge will bring the universe to life for you.

Galaxy’s Edge

If you’re a Star Wars fanatic, you’ll find yourself spending your WHOLE time in the park in Galaxy’s Edge or Star Wars Launch Bay, while the rest of your party explores the other parts of the park.

Chewbacca and Rey in Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge

Now, there’s nothing wrong with this! Spend all the time you want exploring the area, riding Rise of the Resistance and Millennium Falcon: Smuggler’s Run as many times as you’d like, BUT remember that the rest of your group may split off to do the things they’d like to do, and you all can meet up later!

The Wanderers

Now, there are two versions of wanderers, and you WANT to be one, but very much not the other. The first type of wanderer is the Genuine Wanderer. This is someone who is so go-with-the-flow, they’re really just happy to do whatever in the park. Nothing really fazes them — they’re just along for the ride!

Alien Swirling Saucers

Now, the other type of wanderer is the Confused Wanderer. This is someone who did very little research about the park, or maybe Disney World as a whole, and is now wandering around very confused, and potentially frustrated that they can’t get what they want done.

Hollywood Studios

Here’s the thing though — Disney World is a vacation destination that REQUIRES research if you’re not the first type of wanderer. If you haven’t done any research about the park, you can’t be angry with Cast Members that you’re not able to do what you’d like to because you didn’t prepare. But that’s why we exist! To make sure you’re never the second type of wanderer!

The Dedicated Old Schoolers

Now these people can sometimes be a little hard to travel with, so if you find yourself identifying with this one, it may be time for some self-reflection. The Dedicated Old Schoolers are people who refuse to let go of the past, and harp on how everything in the park used to be.

Walt Disney Presents

Now, don’t get us wrong! There’s a difference between fondly reminiscing and wishing a certain attraction was still in the park (I very much am sad I never got to experience the Studio Tour) and griping about the “good ‘ol days” over, and over, and over again.

Toy Story Land

As much as you miss the past, it’s not returning. Disney World has changed, and there will never be days like there used to be, with FastPass and the old attractions. It’s heartbreaking, we know, but the sooner you accept it, the sooner you can start seeing the joy in what’s there now!

The Historian

Our last person is The Historian, who is SO knowledgeable about the park, you can ask them any question and they’ll either know the answer, or know how to find it very quickly.

The Hollywood Tower Hotel Lobby

This is someone who loves the history of the park. They appreciate it for what it was in the past, but also know how to love it how it is now. They may spend a lot of time in Walt Disney Presents (tag yourself, that’s me) and share random facts about areas of the park you didn’t ask for.

Hollywood Studios

Now, if you identify with this, we love that you know so much about the parks, but try and remember that not everyone in your group appreciates history like you do. We know, we know, the history lesson is on the tip of your tongue, but sometimes you may need to bite it back to let everyone enjoy the current moment together.

Hollywood Studios

If you’re headed into Hollywood Studios soon, we hope you have the best time, and be sure to stay tuned to AllEars for all the latest Disney World news, tips, and tricks!

  1. A word of warning about Slinky Dog Dash. Yesterday was such a slow day that no park reservations were required for non-specific date ticket holders. Yet at 8:00am, its Genie Lightning Lane was already sold out for the entire day. That meant that day guests who have to wait until Disney Studios opens to book Genie would not be able to get this ride’s Lightning Lane. For hotel guests, purchase Disney Genie at midnight and set the alarm to book at 7 am!
