Photography Tips from it’s a small world Cast

Light Meter by Lisa K. Berton

In another exclusive conversation with the Cast Members of it’s a small world, they wanted to jump into my photography blog and offer their own advice. Based on the millions upon millions of both happy singers and grumpy eye rollers who point camera lenses at them, they have incomprehensible experience on how best to record your memories at their infamous attraction.

Hello. I am Zahra and I wish to help you with an easy lesson. It can be difficult to take a sharp photo from a boat when using a point and shoot camera. They must focus first and then the flash goes off. This takes a few seconds and you will have passed by my friends by then. If this happens to you, use a computer software program to crop photos. This is a picture of me (far right) and my friends. You cannot see them well and the people in the back have lost their heads. I can barely look.

Make the picture better by cropping out those you cannot see well. Your friends will think you are amazing with a lovely photo of just me. Please remember, you can use this technique on any photo but don’t risk removing your mother-in-law or you’ll move into your car.

Buenos dias. My name is Niña Luna and these are my brothers, Fernando and Nefty. Buying a new camera is exciting, almost as exciting as going on a Disney vacation. Make time to use it before leaving home and test out the various functions. Higher-end cameras let you change the flash output. What we see and what a camera’s lens sees are different. If you don’t get a good sense of how powerful the flash is, you can blow out all of the highlights and sometimes mid-tones, too. And yes, the opposite holds true if you reduce the flash’s output and your picture will be too dark. I hope you enjoyed my tip and I’ll see you soon. Hasta luego.

Stitch take picture! Stitch take picture on surfboard! Give Stitch camera. Please. Give Stitch camera now! Okay, you want to play tough? Stitch tell you something nice. Time picture for action. Press shutter button just before all surfboard in view. Then take more picture when flash recharge. Too slow? Buy D-SLR. Now give Stitch camera. Hey. Where you going? Bye bye.

Welcome to Africa. I am Omar, the handsome drummer. Joining me are Rashid and Khalil, the horn players. My humble elephant, Barbarella, moves in time to our music. How you frame your subjects largely changes a picture’s impact. I suggest that you take strong hold of your camera, zoom in on a level, hold down the shutter button so it keeps focusing, and then with quick reflexes, push it down without moving the camera. Think quick if you’re sailing thru it’s a small world and use a film speed of at least 400. The colors in here are bright but there’s no sunlight. Thank you for coming. Goodbye my friends.

  1. I would suggest that, in any Disney ride, the first suggestion should be “Please don’t use flash!”. It can be annoying to other guests.

Lisa responds: Certainly, someone who takes endless flash photos and gets in the way of other Guests can be bothersome. I personally am fine if someone uses discretion on attractions that permit flash photography.

  2. Hi Lisa,
Are Lilo and Stitch in it’s a small world in Disneyland, Walt Disney World or both? i don’t remember ever seeing them in Disney World. Thanks.

Also, did you read Kingdom Keepers? These dolls are friendlier than the ones from that book!
    Karen

Lisa responds: Lilo and Stitch are in Disneyland. No, I don’t read Kingdom Keepers so I’m not familiar with the characters.
