Dream Lights

Focus on Disney World by Barrie Brewer

 Cinderella’s Dream Lights Castle

Here I go posting another winter photo in the middle of the summer. I can’t help it though. Our Pic of the Week topic is castles and I LOVE Cinderella’s castle when it is decked out in the Dream Lights for the winter holiday season. I hope Disney continues to decorate the castle in the Magic Kingdom this way for many seasons to come.

The previous post in this blog was Group Photos at Disneyland.

The next post in this blog is 2009 MagicMeets Photography.

Eric:

what an amazing picture!

Lasto:

We have visited The World twice: summer and winter. This picture captures the reason why we will always return in the winter. You have to see the park in person to comprehend how beautiful it is.

Barrie~~~

This is a beautiful shot of the castle.

This year, for the first time ever, we are going to be in the parks for the holidays and I will get to see the castle lit like this in person.

What a blessing to see it this way this morning!!!

Thank you!
Shannon

Cheri P:

GORGEOUS picture, Barrie! I really enjoy reading your blogs, as well as Scott & Lisa's. :)

Becky:

I love your night time shots! They are beautiful! Do you have any of the Animal Kingdom?

Barrie's reply: Thanks Becky! Funny you should ask... my photo for Pic of the Week this week will be a night shot from Animal Kingdom. Here's a link to another: http://barriebrewer.smugmug.com/gallery/6606924_sJymP#419343959_qNPFu-A-LB

Becky:

Oh my word, is that BEAUTIFUL beyond words. Simply outstanding (~_~)...........
Thanx so much;

Heather Young:

Thanks for posting this one Barrie. My December 2008 trip is becoming a dim and distant memory. I love the castle when it's lit for the holiday season.

Jennifer:

WOW!! I love this pic!!! I don't mind if you post winter pics in the summer :)

Ruth Woodhouse:

Wow - that is beautiful. We are going to Orlando and WDW on October and come home on 7th November - I know we will see the Halloween decorations but will we see any Christmas decorations? I know the Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Parties start on 10th November - will anywhere in Orlando start decorating for Christmas before we go home?

Barrie's reply: Hi Ruth - I checked around and although they will have started putting up the Christmas decorations, they aren't likely to light the castle until the parties start. And even then, until Thanksgiving they will probably only light it on party nights. It's too bad you will miss it, it's really very beautiful. I am in the same boat as you this year. I'll be there for Marathon weekend and will just miss the Christmas decorations as well.

Becky:

Hi Barrie;
Did u have a tripod for this?
Thanx,
Becky*

Scott replies as Barrie is on vacation: Becky, while I can't be certain, from my experience, you have to use a tripod to get this kind of sharpness and detail of the castle at night. Look for my blog on using tripods at Disney for tips on how to do so.

Emily:

I love the picture. Were taking our "first (as a family) trip this dec and I cant wait to see Disney all decked out.

Becky:

Hi Scott or Barrie;
Yes, tripods always are the best choice for a pix like this, but since the VR lense was used, and I know it works well in the dark, was wondering if it could have done this well, or if there was just no way to handhold it? Guess I'm hoping for too much?
thanx,
Becky*

Barrie's reply: Hi Becky. I did use a tripod even though I had a VR lens. I can handhold a shot like this with the VR lens and get almost as sharp a photo, as long as I don't zoom too far, but it takes a lot of work to get it steady enough. Frankly, I'd rather use the tripod because it's easier and gets a clearer shot, especially if it's one I want to print.

Vivian:

Hi Barrie!
Beautiful picture!
Please, what time de Dream Lights happens?
Thanks!

Barrie's reply: Thanks Vivian! I know the Dream Lights start getting lit when the Christmas parties start. This year that is on November 10. I'm not sure if they light them on non-party dates that early though.
