Lake Buena Vista, Fla. (October 19, 2017) – Walt Disney World Resort unveiled the first look at the new NBA Experience coming to Disney Springs in 2019. The renderings show a futuristic-looking building.

Inspired by the modern architecture of new NBA arenas around the country, the building designs create an unmistakable and entertaining connection to the NBA in a way that only Disney can.

It’s one of several ways Disney Springs is growing and adding new experiences to delight and entertain Guests.

“We are inspired by the design of the new building and the energy that it will bring to the West Side of Disney Springs,” said Senior Vice President of Disney Springs and ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex Maribeth Bisienere.

The state-of-the-art space will include interactive games and competitions, immersive experiences, a retail store and an adjacent restaurant.

NBA President, Global Partnerships Sal LaRocca, recently commented on the project, sharing, “This one-of-a-kind experience is sure to be enjoyed by basketball and Disney fans of all ages who visit Disney Springs from around the world.”

The NBA Experience at Walt Disney World Resort will be a one-of-a-kind basketball-themed experience featuring hands-on activities that put guests of all ages right in the middle of NBA game action. There will be immersive NBA video productions and numerous interactive experiences and an exciting retail store that will offer something for all NBA fans worldwide.

The NBA Experience at Walt Disney World Resort at Disney Springs opens in summer 2019.

I think that personally this is not the best choice Disney could have made for that space. There may be a lot of basketball fans out there, but I was hoping they would have re-imagined that space into something more Disney related. I think Disney Quest was a great thing and I understand attendance was on the decline. However, maybe they could have upgraded it a little more to bring back the guests. Just my opinion

Ok, my wife and I grew up playing pinball machines and eventually hit space invaders and the so-called early video machines. We loved them. When our men were kids, we could spend all day every day there if we let them.

We also enjoyed it greatly. Blasts from the past etc. And don't forget the great dessert snacks!!!

Now it will be Basketball. Why not Football? Or Hockey? Or water polo??? (Ok, water polo is out as the horses keep drowning, I get it.)..... How many people are basketball fans? We happen to have had 2 boys who grew to be 6'6" and 6'3" and love basketball.

However, I do not see the overwhelming clamoring by everyone for a basketball themed "Experience". I am sure my 80+ year old parents will have a blast shooting hoops and breaking bones, instead of playing pinball with the grandchildren.

File this idea right up there with Pet friendly...Hey, why don't those people bring their dogs in to play hoops too! Arrrgghhhh !! Change just for change sake, is not always for the better.

I find this to be a very odd choice.

I haven't been interested in basketball since the Bulls were on their run in the 90s.
