I Tried Disney World’s NEWEST Character Meal and I’m Still SHOCKED About This

Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa’s lobby offers an amazing first impression. The towering ceilings and fresh scent let us know something good is in store.

Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa

We are headed to Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa to revisit a recently opened restaurant with a revamped character meal. Our bellies are ready for some food and we can’t wait to head inside.

We were invited to attend a 1900 Park Fare media event and enjoyed our experience! We ate at 1900 Park Fare for both breakfast and dinner the day it reopened, and we were excited for the chance to go back.

1900 Park Fare

1900 Park Fare is located inside of Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa. It is located on the first floor towards the back of the resort. If you are entering in through the front, you will head towards the back left of the building to find the restaurant.

It is looking beautiful!

The restaurant itself is gorgeous. It is decked out with beautiful chandeliers and filled with lots of lovely details. You can find paintings adorning the walls around the dining area, and the wallpaper features fun details.

Some of the paintings

At 1900 Park Fare, you will be able to meet four different characters: Tiana, Mirabel, Aladdin, and Cinderella.  Every character was fantastic, and our conversations were great.

Mirabel

I really liked that they came around together, and then there was probably a 30-minute pause before they made rounds again. This gave me a good amount of time to head to the buffet and eat while not having to worry about missing a character.

Cinderella

Some character dining locations have characters coming around almost constantly, so it is hard to find a good time to get up. The dining area is pretty open, so you can also see them interacting with other tables and you can tell when they are getting close to you.

Tiana

The characters were all amazing to interact with! They spent a really good amount of time at each table, and our conversations were so much fun. I loved their outfits and how much they emphasized your wish. They all wanted it to come true for you but also wanted to make sure you knew that it may take a bit of time. They were fabulous with the kids as well.

Aladdin

In addition to meeting characters, there is also a wish ceremony that occurs during your meal. Upon check-in, you receive a wish card that also has the signatures of all the characters you will be meeting. You can write your wish on the card and during the wish ceremony, everyone holds up their wish cards. It was a beautiful moment during the meal, and I couldn’t help but smile during the whole thing.

Wish Ceremony

Now, the fun doesn’t stop with the characters and the wish ceremony. One of the best parts, and honestly most shocking, for me at 1900 Park Fare is the food. The food is served buffet style, and you have so many different options. Not all Disney buffets are created equally, so we were pleasantly surprised that this one had so many highlights!

The buffet

There is something for everyone including salad, soup, meats, specialties, kids’ items, and desserts. The buffet is expansive, and I highly recommend taking a quick tour, so you know what your must-gets are.

Lots of amazing food!

I was very impressed with the food! One of my favorite items was Tiana’s Gumbo. It was so flavorful with lots of juicy Andouille Sausage and tender vegetables.

Tiana’s Gumbo

This was my very first-time trying gumbo and I am so happy that it was Tiana’s Gumbo. I am allergic to shellfish so normally I can’t eat gumbo, but I got my first taste at 1900 Park Fare! The gumbo definitely made my list of favorites, but that is not the only food item that was making me want seconds. I also fell in love with the Macaroni & Cheese.

Macaroni & Cheese

It had the perfect combination of cheesiness and creaminess. You could tell it was made with real cheese and the taste was wonderful. I probably could have had a whole meal of the Mac & Cheese. In addition to Tiana’s Gumbo and the Mac & Cheese, I also loved the Roasted Garlic Sausage, Broccoli Slaw, and Focaccia Bread.

Another look at the food

The Focaccia was light, fluffy, and moist. I loved the flavor of the sun-dried tomatoes and herbs added to it. The sausage was full of flavor but not spicy at all. It was tender and juicy, and just delicious. The Broccoli Slaw was super creamy and sweet. The addition of sunflower seeds added a great texture.

Broccoli Slaw

I probably could have gone back for seconds and thirds, because the food was wonderful. However, I also needed to leave room to check out the desserts. And I am glad I did because the desserts were just as fabulous!

Dessert Buffet

I got to try the iconic Strawberry Soup and it did not disappoint. It reminded me a bit of strawberry yogurt but with a more frozen texture. You can top the soup with fresh strawberries and whipped cream too. I was always curious about this soup, and I am now a fan. Sweet and fruity, with lots of great strawberry flavor.

Strawberry Soup

In addition to the strawberry soup, I also loved the Lemon-Blueberry Cheesecake and the Warm Chocolate Cake with Vanilla Creme Anglaise. Although, all of the desserts were amazing, so it was hard to choose favorites.

Lemon-Blueberry Cheesecake, Toasted Coconut Cake, Vanilla Cupcake, and Warm Chocolate Cake with Vanilla Creme Anglaise

The cheesecake had lots of blueberry flavor with just the right amount of lemon. The crust was soft and tender, and the sweetness was just right. The chocolate cake was amazing too. Full of chocolate flavor with a soft center and topped off with a delicious vanilla sauce.

A great evening at 1900 Park Fare!

I left feeling completely full and satisfied, with a huge smile on my face. The characters were so heartwarming to interact with and they were all absolutely amazing with the kids. The food was fantastic, and there wasn’t anything I got that I didn’t like.
