Happy Earth Day! We’re celebrating at Disney World the only way we know how — at Animal Kingdom, of course.
We’ve already tried the exclusive eats and drinks Disney released for the month, but now, we’re bringing you a look at the rare characters you might catch around the park today!
It’s Earth Day at Animal Kingdom! There are plenty of treats to check out, but we’re here to see what characters are out and about for the holiday. Last year, we saw a ton of rare characters come out on Earth Day — but that also happened to be Animal Kingdom’s 25th Anniversary, so Disney kind of went all out. We’re not so sure the same is true this year!
We spotted Kenai and Koda from Brother Bear having a good time on a flotilla making its way down Discovery River. This is definitely a pair of characters we don’t see too often!

But, it looks like these two might be the only special characters out for the day! In the past, we’ve seen DiVine covered in flowers — we hope to spot her wearing something similar this year.
For Animal Kingdom’s 25th Anniversary in 2023, Disney brought out characters like Baloo and King Louie, Princess Atta, Jane and Terk, and Tinkerbell and Fawn. Since this isn’t any sort of big anniversary, it looks like there might be fewer special appearances for Earth Day this year.
We’ll be keeping an eye out and will let you know if we spot anyone else!

In 2003 my eldest and middle boys (then aged 5 & 2) met Kenai and Koda at the Canada pavilion, I have a fabulous photo of the 2 year old sat on of their laps being tickled. That same child was scooped up by Tigger in AK and carried back football style to have his photo taken – he’d run off to meet Pooh bear and Tigger wasn’t happy with being missed out. Don’t worry no tears just lots of giggles and hugs
The character actors are so skilled at knowing how a child is going to react. My then 15mth wouldn’t go near them and they responded by just waving
