Magic Kingdom’s NEW Pirates of the Caribbean Lounge Is Gonna Be POPULAR. There’s Just One Problem…

Ahoy, Mateys.

Pirates of the Caribbean

If you’re anything like us, you’re combing through every announcement Disney makes for any scrap of info about the upcoming Pirates of the Caribbean Restaurant they announced at D23 back in September. Since we’ve had some time since that announcement, we’ve been thinking this spot is going to be uber popular, but there’s one problem that no one’s talking about!

As we said, this new Pirates of the Caribbean restaurant is going to be off-the-charts popular — think like Oga’s Cantina in Galaxy’s Edge. Speaking of Oga’s, that’s what gets us to the crux of the matter.

The only thing was know for certain right now is the concept art from Disney. So, we don’t have too many clues about this new restaurant and what form it’s going to take (a restaurant? a lounge? a quick-service spot?).  The announcement called it a tavern in Adventureland, which makes us wonder. Will we have to make a reservation to get in?

Oga’s Cantina

Will this new spot be like Oga’s Cantina where you need a reservation to dine here, and you’re under a 45-minute time limit once you go inside? If so, you know that reservations might be hard to get, so you’ll need to book as soon as they become available.

Oga’s Cantina

Another thing to think about is the size of the space and how that will affect how much… well, space you’ll have while eating there. We’ve felt uncomfortable dining in some spots like Oga’s.

Dining at Oga’s Cantina

Maybe it’s due to a lack of room at tables, no legroom, or that you’re quite literally less than six inches away from someone else. Either way, the cramped quarters can make it tough to enjoy your limited time in there.

Also, we haven’t even talked about the fact that this new Pirates restaurant could have standing-only tables just like Oga’s. We’re not trying to say that this new spot is going to be exactly like Oga’s Cantina, but since it will be a tavern and will be in high demand — we’re guessing it’s not going to be a spot where you can while away the afternoon (even though we will probably want to!).

  1. Not a fan of Oga’s. Never a table, have to stand and prices are expensive. I really hope the Pirate Tavern doesn’t model itself after Oga’s.
