In case you haven’t been on the internet lately, it’s safe to say that Universal dominated the theme park conversation this past week.
Universal Orlando Resort just gave us a detailed preview of its NEW Epic Universe theme park, with closer looks at its five lands, future attractions, and in-park hotel. Although this was just a taste of what’s to come, the announcement had us beginning for more and eager to be there when the park opens. Speaking of the park opening, we have some information and clues as to when that might happen.
The most recent Epic Universe announcements were released on January 30th, but that doesn’t mean the park will be opening soon. According to Universal, the new park is set to open next year in 2025. But when next year? We may have some clues.
According to their respective Loews Hotels web pages, Universal’s Nova Stella Resort and Terra Luna Resort are set to open on January 21st, 2025 and February 25th, 2025, respectively. Loews mentions that these Epic Universe-adjacent resorts will open BEFORE Epic Universe does, so it’s unlikely the new theme park will open before March.
We’ve heard unofficial mumblings that Epic Universe could be targeting a summer opening date, and that is backed up by a 2022 Comcast quarterly investors call that reiterated the park would be ready by Summer 2025.
The park was first announced in 2019, and despite a 2020 delay due to the pandemic, it’s been pretty evident, based on the construction updates, that Universal has been moving at a brisk pace.
With consistent construction updates and endless videos of ride testing being released frequently, we’re inclined to believe summer 2025 is not only doable but also a very likely timeframe for when Epic Universe will open. As with all things post-Covid-19, Epic Universe’s situation is fluid and subject to change, but we are consistently encouraged by the daily updates and now this latest announcement.

The big reveal this week stated the park will open in “2025” . Prior promotional materials had stated “Summer 2025” . Word on the street says the park might being postponed a bit. Fall or Winter 2025 at this rate.
For what its worth, Universal Studios Orlando opened on June 7, 1990 and Islands of Adventure opened May 28, 1999. Going by this and knowing Universal won’t want to miss the summer crowds, I would expect Epic Universe to open somewhere between Memorial Day weekend (starting Friday, May 23 in 2025) and Saturday, June 7, 2025.
