Japan experienced a powerful earthquake on Monday, January 1st, with effects felt at the Disney theme parks.
Although no operational changes have been announced yet, some guest videos show how the earthquake affected the parks.
According to ABC News, a 7.5 magnitude earthquake hit Japan around 4:10PM local time on January 1st. Several smaller earthquakes also hit.
ABC reports that “Japanese officials had issued a major tsunami warning for the peninsula and surrounding Ishikawa Prefecture before downgrading it about five hours later to a tsunami warning. The lesser warning said waves could be expected high as 3 meters, or about 10 feet, near the epicenter, down from 5 meters, or about 16 feet.”
The epicenter of the earthquake was along the Noto Peninsula, which is on the opposite side of Japan from Tokyo. Tokyo Disneyland is about 8 hours away from the peninsula, but the effects of the earthquake were still felt in the parks.

Currently, Tokyo Disney has not announced any operational changes, so it looks like the parks will continue to be open as planned.
