5 Ways Your Disney World Hotel Stay will be Different in 2024

Disney World is going through many changes, and we will continue to see things change through 2024.

The Contemporary

There will be a lot of exciting things opening in 2024 at Disney World. We have Tiana’s Bayou Adventure opening. We should see more of the EPCOT construction finish, too. So if you are planning your Disney World trip for 2024, you’ll want to listen up.

There are a lot of things that can affect your Disney trip when staying at a Disney World hotel and we’re bringing you the things you need to know to be ready for 2024.

1. Renovations

It is no secret that there are a few hotels that will undergo renovations in 2024. Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort will be getting new Disney Vacation Club villas in 2024. This building will come with new dining and recreation offerings once it opens as well. We’ve been keeping an eye on the construction and have seen it make some significant progress lately.

In other DVC news, Disney has shared that they will redesign the cabins at Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort & CampgroundThe plan is to bring in over 350 refreshed cabins to replace the existing ones by the end of 2024. If you want to stay in one of the cabins, be on the lookout for an update on when the new ones will be available.

New hotel rooms are not the only renovations happening. Sometime in 2024, The Cake Bake Shop by Gwendolyn Rogers will open its doors to guests, serving up items for brunch, lunch, and dinner.

This will be a great option for guests staying at Disney’s BoardWalk Inn and surrounding hotels.

2. Return of the Disney Dining Plan

The Disney Dining Plan is coming back in 2024 and booking is officially open for trips after January 9th! We’ve shared as many details as we possibly could so far so that you can decide if it’s worth it!

Disney has shared that the Quick Service Dining Plan will cost  $57.01 per adult, per day and $23.83 per child (ages 3 to 9) per day. And the Standard Disney Dining Plan will cost  $94.28 per adult, per day and $29.69 per child (ages 3 to 9) per day.

Keep in mind, in order to qualify, you must be staying at a Disney-owned-and-operated hotel and have purchased at least one ticket per person. This is a game changer for many families staying at Disney hotels.

3. Hey, Disney!

“What’s ‘Hey, Disney!?’” Good question! “Hey, Disney!” is a small Amazon Alexa-type device available in many Disney hotel rooms.

The device lets you talk to a NEW character called the Disney Magical Companion. The Magical Companion can do all kinds of things for you, like set alarms (great for those 7AM Genie+ wake-up calls), order certain items to be sent to your room (like extra towels), answer your questions about things like park wait times or bus schedules, and even enable you to have fun with some of your favorite Disney characters.

4. Pools Closed

In early 2024, some Disney resort pools will be closed. From January 2024 through April 2024, the Fuentes del Morro pool at Disney’s Caribbean Beach Resort. This pool has a pirate theme complete with slides and a water play area. During the closure, guests will be able to swim in one of five other leisure pools at the hotel. Leisure pools usually don’t have slides and are lighter on theming than the feature pool.

And the third pool that will be closed is the Doubloon Lagoon pool at Disney’s Port Orleans French Quarter. This pool is themed to look like Mardi Gras and even has a giant serpent slide along with a band comprised of alligators. During the pool’s closure, guests can use the pool at Disney’s Port Orleans Riverside, which is right next door. The closure is set for January 2024 through April 2024.
