Yo, ho, yo ho! Where are our Pirates of the Caribbean fans at? Back in 2020, we got word that a new female-led Pirates of the Caribbean movie was in the works starring Margot Robbie.
However, we recently got an update indicating that the movie had potentially been scrapped. BUT now we’ve got word that the project isn’t completely dead yet and that a new Pirates of the Caribbean movie could still happen.
According to Variety, the film franchise’s producer Jerry Bruckheimer told Collider that another Pirates of the Caribbean script is moving ahead, but that doesn’t necessarily mean that the project starring Margot Robbie won’t happen.
He said, “I think that that script will come forward at a certain point. We developed two different stories for ‘Pirates’ and the other one’s going forward first, so that’s what we’re working on, to try to get that one made.”
Previously, Bruckheimer indicated that both projects were moving forward. In terms of a potential return of Johnny’s Depp, he said “Not at this point. The future is yet to be decided.”
We don’t have any details about what the non-Margot Robbie Pirates will be about, but as soon as we know something, we’ll share it with you!
