Closures happen all of the time in Disney World, but they don’t have to ruin your day!
Sure, a little Florida rain can put a damper on your day when several outdoor rides close down. And yes, unexpected technical difficulties can cause your favorite ride to be down for hours, but you can keep an eye on the closure in the My Disney Experience app. That’s what you’ll want to do today if you wanted to ride Big Thunder Mountain Railroad.
We were walking around Magic Kingdom when we saw the line of Cast Members in front of Big Thunder Mountain Railroad. We had a feeling what that meant — the ride is currently closed.
Cast Members typically stand outside of the attraction that is closed and will even set up games or activities to entertain guests. Today it was a hula hoop!
Cast Members said the ride went down about an hour ago and they do expect to be back up and running soon. The Cast Members did not have a time estimate, though.
UPDATE:Â Big Thunder Mountain Railroad has reopened. We’ll let you know if this changes.
We’ll keep an eye on the ride and let you know when it’s back up and ready to ride! In the meantime, keep an eye on the wait times in the My Disney Experience app — that is one of the easiest ways to see when attractions reopen!
