15 Things Under $15 That You’ll Definitely Need in Disney World

There are a LOT of things you’ll need in Disney World… tickets, phone, camera… none of which are inexpensive. But there are also some items that will vastly improve your trip that don’t come at such a high cost.

Disney’s Animal Kingdom Tree of Life

Here are 15 things for $15 or less that will improve your trip to Walt Disney World!

1. Refillable Water Bottle

We’ve said it before, but we’ll say it again — it’s hot in Florida and you need water! Instead of spending $3.50 over and over again on Dasani water bottles, we recommend bringing a cute refillable one, Disney-themed of course! Then you can fill it up at water fountains, or ask for (free!) ice water at quick-service locations.

2. Moleskin

Blisters are NO FUN at all. And even the best shoes can turn on you during a day in the parks — people tend to walk an average of 5 to 7 miles a DAY! We suggest grabbing a pack of moleskin to protect yourself from blisters. This is one of those “it’s better to have it and not need it, than need it and not have it” situations.

3. Autograph Book

If you plan on meeting characters, then an autograph book is a must-have. You can order one online before hand from shopDisney.com, or snag one at your hotel or a Disney park. It’s so much fun to watch your little ones (or you — we don’t judge!) fill it up with signatures from their favorite characters. Plus a lot of autograph books have room for you to add in photos, making it a great memory maker!

4. Baby Powder

It doesn’t matter if you have a baby or not — baby powder can come in incredibly handy. Again, it can be very hot in Florida and the cruel reality is that chafing is a strong possibility. Baby powder can seriously help with that! You can also sprinkle some in your shoes to help absorb moisture and sweat. Just trust us when we say baby powder can be your best friend on a hot day.

5. Mister Fan

Have we mentioned it gets hot in Florida? You will love this mister fan! Just fill it with some water and you can get a nice splash of cool water in addition to some fanning. Make sure to bring replacement batteries! They do sell these in the parks, but you can get one for a lot less at Walmart or similar stores beforehand.

6. Portable Charger

With all the photos, videos, and use of My Disney Experience on your phone, chances are you’re going to run out of battery. It’s a really great idea to bring a portable charger with you, and lots of solid models are under $15 on retailers such as Walmart or Amazon.

7. Ponchos

During most of the summer, it’s very likely it’ll rain every day for just a few minutes. It just happens in Central Florida! While it usually doesn’t last long, don’t get caught unprepared! An easy trick is to grab some compactly packed ponchos, because they will stuff into your bag without taking too much room. That way, if it does rain, you’re in the clear and not spending the Disney price on ponchos! If it doesn’t, well at least you’re not carrying around heavy jackets. And you can often find these so cheap, that we recommend grabbing several per person in your family and basically considering them one-time use. This way you can just ditch them when the rain is over.

8. Snacks

Even if you plan on having every meal in a park, it’s a good idea to have a few snacks on your person. This way if you need a nosh between meals or a child is getting cranky in line, you have a solution on hand! Good, cheap ideas include granola bars, trail mix, crackers, and fruit snacks.

9. Over the Counter Meds

While you can get over the counter medicines for free at First Aid, you may be a far walk away when you actually need the pills! Grab a small container of ibuprofen (or any other common pain reliever), so that way if a headache or backache pops up you can fix it in no time!

10. Disney Shirts

A super fun way to “dress up” in the parks is wearing fun Disney shirts! You can of course buy these once you’re there, but you can find super cute shirts for a lot cheaper at places like Target, Walmart, Amazon, and Etsy.

11. Sunscreen

I know, I know. You realize it’s hot in Florida. But I don’t think people really realize how hot it’ll be and how sunburned you can get! Even in the shade or on a cloudy day, you can get burned. Sunscreen is available at Disney at a very high mark-up so we suggest bringing your own and using it every day — not just water park or pool days.

12. Glow Sticks

This sounds unusual but when you think about it, so much fun! Grab a big pack of glow sticks before you come and let your kids wear some bright necklaces, bracelets, and headbands at night! This will help you keep track of them easier, and well… it’s just super fun!

13. Baby Wipes

©Target

Just like baby powder, it does not matter if you don’t have a baby in your group. Bring baby wipes! There are lot of sticky desserts (ice cream!?) that your family can enjoy, and sometimes it’s not convenient to run to the bathroom afterwards to wash your hands. Having baby wipes on hand makes it easy to clean up small messes or wipe hands.

14. Luggage Tags

©Disney

Pick up a fun luggage tag to identify your luggage at the airport — and then move it or grab another to identify your stroller in the park. Lots of people rent or have the same stroller and it can be hard to tell them apart. Having a unique luggage tag will make it easier for you to find yours in the ocean of strollers at stroller parking.

15. Disney Pins

If your kid, or you, is on the prowl for some pin-trading, we strongly recommend grabbing some pins before you go! You can order bulk sets of authentic Disney pins off Amazon or eBay for a lot less than if you bought them one by one in the park. Then your kid, or you, can have fun trading throughout your trip! It’s a great activity.

  1. Glow sticks are also great to use on kids when swimming at night. It makes it very easy to see them when they’re underwater.

  2. the glow sticks are great and from the dollar store a tube can’t be beat in price. plus, it’s a great way for kids to make friends by sharing with another family.

as far as the moleskin, be sure to cut it up into strips or squares before leaving home. a sheet of it will do you very little good without scissors.

  3. ….and people wonder why it takes so long to get through security.

And with all that stuff you could open up your own retail store on Main Street.
