Pros: dining under the sea
Cons: waiter/food/speed of meal

2 people, first time eating here, heard great reviews, couldn't wait to be here! Shoulda just saved the moola & got a bag of chips somewhere! Waiter was less than attentive. Came to table 3x's: didn't even introduce himself, say welcome or nothing. His EXACT first words to us were,"You want hear recommendation? I say Mahi-Mahi! You order now?" Not 10 minutes went by til he sailed back thru with our food, and, no lie: 15 minutes later said "Coffee? No? Here bill! Pay Me!" We were in & out in 40 munites! Left so hungry we got a pizza back at our resort. No way EVER going back here!

Pros: food, service, beautiful view
Cons: other patrons

We ate here on the last night of our trip. The food was amazing as was the service from Bruce our waiter. It was awesome to watch the fish, sharks, rays, and sea turtles swimming about right in front of you. The desserts were just as good as the entree. I highly recommend the chocolate wave, just order it early, because it does take a while. Bruce set up this expectation and took our dessert orders early.

The woman at the table next to us, however, insisted on taking flash pictures during the entire dinner, which was especially annoying in a dark restaurant. This of course was in no way the restaurant's fault, and they did politely ask her to turn the flash off.

Pros: wait staff, food, atmosphere
Cons: none

We ate here on 9/27. It was one of the best meals we had for our week long stay. Our daughter loved watching the fish & trying to figure out what kind they were. Our waiter(forgot his name) gave great suggestions to what food and desserts to order & he was spot on! Loved the desserts & the Mahi Mahi!

Pros: Great atmosphere, great food
Cons: Service was a little slow

We ate a late (2:00pm) lunch at Coral Reef this past Wednesday. We had to wait to be seated, even with ADRs. That was a little frustrating, since it was already late to be eating lunch, but maybe it was just a fluke. It seemed to be very crowded, and we never saw a table be empty for longer than it took to clear it.

Our food was delicious though! I had the mahi mahi and the champagne tart, husband had the trout and the Jack Daniels mousse, 4 year old son had the grilled chicken plate with a brownie. We all agreed it was the best food of our whole trip.

We were on the top row, but still had a great view. My son really loved watching for the big shark, and the scuba divers were fun, too.

Pros: Beautiful Atmosphere
Cons: None

We were expecting average food and great atmosphere but we were quite impressed by both. We sat right in front of the tank and had a lot of fun looking for fish and the diver in between courses where were nicely timed. We each ordered a different fish and all were execellent, especially the trout. The desserts were all excellent as well. This trip we explored many different restaurants and everyone agreed this was our favorite. You will not be disappointed.

Pros: the decor
Cons:

My family ate here during our stay in August. At first, I thought the menu was limited. However, I would order the chicken platter over and over. My kids ate every bite.
We arrived right when it opened so we had a good view of the tank. As the restaurant filled up, our view was limited. We will go back!

Pros: tank, food
Cons:

My husband, son(12) and I had a lovely lunch at Coral Reef! The food was great, and we enjoyed trying to find the list of fish that we were given. The portions are a bit small, though.

Pros: food was good, beautiful view of the fish
Cons: extremely noisy, not worth it if not on meal plan.

If you are looking for a good, American style meal with familiar food, the Coral Reef is for you. There are a lot of seafood choices, of course, but also steak, chicken, etc. The view of the aquarium is what makes this restaurant special. I couldn't eat a fish while looking at a fish, but my friend ordered the "catch of the day" and raved over it. I had strip steak, and it was also very good. The chocolate mousse with Bailey's was absolutely delicious.

Two issues: first, the restaurant is noisy. Very noisy. It's also very crowded, and service was a little slow. And while my steak was good, it probably wasn't twice as good as a similar steak at say, the Outback or Longhorn, where it would be half the price and come with a salad. I would recommend the Coral Reef to anyone on the dining plan. If you are not on the DP, it is not really a great value for the money.

Pros: good views, drinks
Cons:

We were eating for the aquarium experience. I don't think there's a bad seat in the place. We were on the inside middle level (not too close, not too far).
I can't remember where our server was originally from but we had a very hard time understanding him so I'm sure we missed a lot.
We had a later ADR and it started to clear out pretty quick so our server took some time to play a hidden mickey search with my DW/DS.
Drink menu was extensive. I had one of the many rum drinks and it was pretty good. The food was average. I had the strip steak. Not really my cut of meat to begin with but it was nothing special.
Worth the experience but I wouldn't go out of my way for the food.

Pros: yummy lobster in the pasta, great environment, creme brulee
Cons: steak bland, not bright fish in aquarium, lobster soup terrible

This place hit or miss. We were seated promptly and had a pretty good server. We were on the deluxe dining plan and DH had the virgin strawberry daquiri, I had tea. We had the appetizer for 2: the crab cakes were pretty good, not too much filler, the lobster soup was disgusting and we didn't do more than one sip of it. The shrimp was just fried shrimp, nothing special. DH ordered the lobster orecchiette pasta and I the red wine sauce on the steak. The steak was super bland except the overbearing red wine sauce on the plate and the lobster pasta had lots of lobster, which was nice and was pretty good flavor, but got to be overbearing before I could finish it. For dessert, DH got the chocolate wave which was quite delicious and flavorful and I got the creme brulee, which was delicious but it was served all cold--I prefer the top hot and the inside cool on a creme brulee, but Disney seems to serve all their creme brulees cold. and We were seated next to the tank which we were glad for, but the aquarium is not as impressive (meaning not as many colorful fish) as I'd hoped, but it was a nice lunch environment and we enjoyed the fish and sharks and a sea turtle which was a pleasant surprise!

Pros: Aquarium view!!!
Cons: None!

My family dined here 8-19 and had an awesome time! Like the rest of the diners here, we requested a tank seat and didn't set our hopes high. When the host sat us down right in the middle of the tank I was astonished! He went on to say that the shark likes to hang out right where I was sitting! Our waitress was very friendly and told us we could have the non-alcoholic piƱa colada since we were on the dining plan. Great way to start off! I ordered the mahi mahi (signature dish) with the coconut line sauce and little shrimp, and the rest of my family ordered the seasonal catch which was a white fleshy fish on top of a basil risotto and cherry tomatoes wih small scallops. They all cleaned there plates and loved it! I really liked the mahi mahi but was surprised with the flavor of the sauce at first. I thought it would taste more like coconut but it was very subtle. The fish was cooked perfectly and the shrimp were delicious! For dessert my dad ordered the jack Daniel's mousse and the rest of us ordered the chocolate wave with raspberry sorbet. It was amazing!!! The chocolate cake was still warm and gooey and the raspberry was a very nice compliment. My dad said that the mousse was ok but you have to be a whiskey fan to really like it. We will definitely be coming back!!

Pros: View
Cons: Loud once rush happens

My wife, daughter, and I ate here for lunch on 8/13 with seating at 11:35 am. When we got in the restaurant area there were very few people already in the so it was a nice, quiet atmosphere. We were seated on the second level right above the first level which was great because we could see great and my daughter started identifying fish right away. One negative to the Coral Reef is once it starts filling up it gets really loud and kind of ruins the atmosphere.

The food was very good! My wife and I started with the Appetizer for Two. The crab cakes were great and my daughter took my portion of shrimp, so they must have been good. I had the Coral Reef Lobster Orecchiette Pasta which was good, but about half way through the cheese gets a little overwhelming. My wife had the Seared Rainbow Trout which was awesome. If we ever go back I am ordering that. They do cook it was some of the skin on, but to me it gives it that extra crispy bite that I liked. Our daughter actually ordered salmon from the kids menu and loved it. My wife finished her meal off with Baileys and Jack Daniel's Mousse. It was outstanding.

All in all we had a very nice lunch. I recommend the Coral Reef if you are wanting to try something new.

Pros:
Cons:

We ate here June 2012 and wish we had specified a table close to the viewing area. The restaurant was almost empty yet we were seated at the very back and the booth in front of us had a high wall so our two toddlers were unable to see anything from our table. We took them down front, but really wished we were able to sit at one of the many open tables closer to the front.

Our food was good - the lobster pasta was amazing. But the catch of the day was somewhat unseasoned. Desserts, of course, were delicious!!!

Pros: Atmosphere, Food, Menu Options
Cons: Service, Table seating

We ate at Coral Reef in May 2012 with deluxe dining on our honeymoon.

Pros: Amazing atmosphere with the aquarium and fish guide. Check in was good and we were seated quick for a 12:00 reservation on a Saturday. (This has changed from past years, I remember waiting 30+ mins after our reservation time in the past). The menu options were great for the restaurant, we were impressed with the seafood options. The food tasted great as well and cooked to perfection.

Cons: Our table was a table for 4, that they separated. This made it feel like we were eating with the other couple to the side of us. Our service was slow, and spoke minimal English. It was hard to make special requests on the menu, but we finally got through to them.

Overall: This restaurants quality has increased dramatically since past trips and we look forward to visiting again.

Pros: Food, seating
Cons: none

This is one of my families most favorite meals and it did not disappoint this time. DH had a steak and loved it. DS1 had lobster pasta and ate almost all of it. DS2 had a cheese pizza and ate all of his meal which is an accomplishment because he doesn't eat well. I had the catch of the day. We all had different desserts and tried each others.

Since it was our anniversary, the server put Celebration chocolates on the top of mine and my DH's desserts which the kids ate but it was nice.

Our next trip we will definitely be eating there again.
