Don’t waste your money on Disney’s new Magic Band. You are not able to run the update that is required if you have an Android Phone so you are not able to customize it as advertised. The thing about this Magic Band Plus Disney knows there is an issue but don’t let their guest know it. Even after several complaints and requests to let consumers know Disney still has not let guests know about this issue. Don’t waste your time with Disney IT helpdesk either they make you wait several days before they respond to requests for help only to tell you yeah, they know it has a glitch and there is nothing you can do.

Pros:

NONE not worth the extra money it cost, cause did doesn't work as advertised.

Cons:

Convenient if you have a disability pass and multiple folks in your party. Don’t have to use your phone but…you could use the free card. The buzzing on your arm at Animal Kingdom could drive one to insanity. Kept buzzing for no reason. Also kept coming off with brushes against your body or someone else’s. Sometimes just fell off. I lost mine on the Dwarves Mine train. The staff is fantastic!! They found mine. We found someone else’s at the same ride and turned it in for them. It literally wasn’t there when we arrived and 15 minutes later it was lying in between us. It needs a loop to place over the cheap plastic male/female prongs…like the Tapoo at Universal Volcano Bay (heavy duty, water proof, not going anywhere, works the same way, given FREE at the gate and returned upon leaving.) After Disney…these are worthless except as a souvenir. If it had a clock function… even a cheap digital flashing Walmart type/gum ball toy watch function, it’d be worth it.

Pros:

Easy and convenient to use with the DAS service

Cons:

Kept popping off.

I kind of pressured my family into getting the basic color ones once we could with the discount. Everyone agreed it was so worth it. Using Lighting lines was so easy compared to a phone. We did see a few people using their phones but everyone that we saw did have some kind of problem It did kind of suck that not all band patterns are available with the discount order but if you keep that in mind it shouldn't be an issue. We also ran into a supply chain issue where they ran out of the basic color bands for like a month or so. We ended up cutting it a bit close for our comfort when we ordered them to get the basic bands and had them shipped to our house. I did love that our names were on the bands themselves as three out of the five of us had the same color.

Pros:

So nice to have everything you need on your wrist

Cons:

After your trip you don't really know what to do with it if you are not a regular park visitor

My favorite part about the MagicBands is not having to remember my hotel room key. On our most recent trip, we stayed off-site on our last night before driving home the next morning, and after using the MagicBand all week, having to remember to grab that room key was annoying...not an annoyance I'd expected to have. I also love the convenience of not having to dig my ticket out when park hopping or (previously) tapping in for FastPass. We have not been to the water parks since the bands were introduced, but they had been announced the last time we had water park annual passes, and I was anxiously awaiting their release so I wouldn't have to keep track of my ticket at the water park.

Pros:

Convenient!

Cons:

Price/no longer free

This saved my phone battery. They make it easy to get into the room, charge things to your room, get into the parks and onto rides. They also make a fun little souvenir after your trip and can be reused for future trips (as long as the battery is still good).

Pros:

Ease of use, saves phone batter, makes it easy to charge to the room.

Cons:

can come loose, makes it easy to charge to the room

I was excited when these first came out as they made it so easy to move seamlessly through Fast Pass, Restaurant/snack credits for our families with children of all ages whether in groups or if spending part of the day separately or if 3 teens wanted to be independent for an afternoon. I think they were easy to use in practice for young and older Disney visitors. Using it as a room key well was also a great idea.

Pros:

While it still linked to technology, it’s individual independence and ease of use everyday for young and old is key to its benefit and doesn’t require everyone to have a cell phone to carry and use.

Cons:

Don’t have. Our family really enjoyed using these.

These definitely make things easier on you and your phone's battery life. Great for entering parks, unlocking your room door and fast passes.

There are endless designs and colors! Just check throughout the day that is on securely because they are known to pop off.

Pros:

Convenient

Cons:

Occasionally falls off your wrist

Magic bands are great. They make it much easier to enter your room, go into a park, and if you are staying on property, you can charge purchases to credit card on file.

Pros:

Easy to use

Cons:

Only con is that it would get caught on my back pack strap.

I LOVE the magic bands and I hope they’ll always be around as an option to park and resort guests. While I can see the appeal of being able to use your smart phone for park entrance, I feel like the ease of the magic band far outweighs our smart phones. Plus, the last thing I want to do while I’m anxiously chomping at the bit to gain entry into MK, is to have to fumble around and look for my phone. It’s one less thing to worry about and it’s fun to choose new magic bands every time and keep them for memories! Disney, hear my plea: I’m a 35 year old who is slowly starting to turn into my parents because technology is beginning to defeat me so PLEASE don’t get rid of the magic bands!!

Pros:

Fun and easy!

Cons:

None!

It's magically! These things are so convenient for room key, photopass, charging to your room. The are water proof so no need to remove for the pool. The kids think the are magic and they get to pick their color. Not free anymore but $5 isn't bad. The biggest con though is they can fall off easily. Mine fell off while picking up my kid luckily someone let me know.

Pros:

Convenient, no fumbling with cards, fun and easy to use

Cons:

Can fall off, not free anymore
