The appetizer and bread were fabulous. The tri-tip was okay and the desserts were nice to look at but not especially good tp eat. The waiter was horrible. This is a set price ($40) meal so I guess he thought he didn't have to bother. He wasn't going to let us order an alcoholic drink because it didn't come with the package. We told him we understood we had to pay extra so he accepted our order. Our water and soda glasses were never refilled, even after we asked. He brought us more bread about 15 minutes after we flagged him down and asked. Someone else delivered our food and dessert. Our dirty dishes were never collected. He had no other tables that he was waiting on that I could see. He only visited our table three times. To take our order, bring extra bread and give us the $195 bill. A dinner for four that costs that much money should have excellent service.
On the other hand, our standing area for World of Color was perfect.

Temple Grandin herds cattle better that they plan this Dinner/show combination.
I reviewed the food under the restaurant section, but I'll lower the boom here.
The ticket you get allows you in a place down front where everyone stands. If it's the first show and you were seated at 7:20 you get there late and you are behind hundreds adult with kids on their shoulders.
No real alternative to getting a good seat is there???

We visited DCA on 02/27 and had called a few weeks before for the World of Color package here. What a disappointment! We were seated right on time, we had requested inside seating and so glad we did, it was very cold this weekend. But to our dismay the doors near our table were wide open so they could service the poor souls seated outside. It was freezing! Several tables requested the doors to be closed but they were denied, so everyone ate with coats on.
We were promptly told our server was on break, something we felt showed poor service. Of course staff goes on breaks, but it should appear seamless to the guests. Our waiter spoke very poor English, had to really work hard to get thru what we wanted.
We started with soft drinks and quickly were prompted to order our entire dinner. We started with the vegetable and cheese tray with salad, very bland and yes this course is served cold, but was not at all tasty or something most people would generally like. The salad was fine, just a light dressing on it.
The warm sourdough bread was excellent, and we packaged the extra at the end of the meal.
My DD ordered the Ciopinno, a huge mistake. She is not at all picky, but was unable to chew most of the seafood in it. The broth was very spicy. She could not finish it mostly because the little bit of lobster could not be removed from the shell, and the rest was too tough.
I ordered the grilled fish with rice. Nothing special, a dry fish with gummy rice. The grilled vegetable were OK, but I can't remember the last time I put salt on restaurant food, but had to this time. The presentation of both meals was very lacking, just kind of thrown on the plates.
Our main course was brought to us by I guess our assigned waiter, who dropped it quickly and was gone, never checking back to see if all OK. Someone refilled our drinks in the same hurried manner.
The atmosphere was very noisy, even though all tables not full.
When our plates were cleared we commented how disappointed we were with our meals. The server said "Oh well, you will like dessert." He then rushed off. My daughter had to practically tackle him to get a glass of wine.
Dessert was well presented, several fancy pastry offering, chocolates and fresh fruits as well as several additional flavors. It was more than we could eat at once, and we packed the rest to take with. Yes, dessert was great but did not make up for the poor service or inedible dinners.
The dinner was very pricey, $110 for two dinners, one glass of wine and tip - for a very rushed experience- - wow. If we had enjoyed the experience, would have felt it was a special night and would have paid that willingly.
The standing area for the show was an excellent location, we got there at the last minute and had great views. The show is NOT to be missed!
Perhaps a better choice would have been the packaged meal, or just getting fastpasses. Just not a very pleasant meal, and we would never do again.
