Description: Imagine an eagle's-eye view of the Downtown Disney area, with sweeping, 10-mile panoramas of Lake Buena Vista and environs. Downtown Disney greets summer guests with a new iconic attraction in the form of a giant tethered balloon – Aerophile – that will take guests 300 feet into the air from the waterfront. The 72-foot-diameter balloon can lift up to 30 guests at a time on a six-minute "flight," by day or night.

Pros: The View
Cons: Long Waits if it's windy

This is definitely worth the extra money to ride. The view is amazing. Went in early May and tried 3 or 4 different occasions but with the wind the balloon was grounded for long periods. Try to avoid twilight time is what I was told by the CM's working there and I'd recommend avoiding wind or breezy days all together.

Also don't waste too much time behind the lens of a camera or recorder, the ride is only 10 minutes and over before you know it.

Pros: The view
Cons: It didn't happen to us but the wind can cause quite a wait.

This ride is well worth the extra money! My dh, dd5 and I took a ride back in May and loved every minute. The view was amazing! We could see all the way to Kennedy Space Center! The "Captain" also pointed out many other landmarks and encouraged us to move around the balloon and take pictures. Even my dd was getting into it and pointing to things she recognized like the Test Track building. We were told by another couple that they waited earlier in the day for an hour and a half and the wind just wouldn't let up so they chose to come back later and waited only 10 minutes before our ride. What a great experience! We will definitely do this again!!!
