Pros:

the overall experience
|
|
Cons:
|
mediocre food, somewhat surly service, expensive
|
|
We've eaten twice here over the past year or so with different sets of in-laws. Both times we had an 8:15 ADR.
As others have stated, this place is all about the experience. In particular, the experience of walking down an empty Main Street before the park opens and the experience of eating inside Cinderella's Castle with Disney princesses visiting your table.
Those aspects are truly magical and are what makes this restaurant worth it because the food and service leave a lot to be desired. While not terrible, the food (outside of the pastries, which are quite good) is generally mediocre and, in and of itself, grossly overpriced.
As far as the service, surly is the best word I can use to describe. The servers know that they'll get the same tip regardless of the level of service so they're motivated to rush you through the meal and, in our experience, seemed irritated in responding to even very modest requests (for example, a request for a refill on OJ was often met with an annoyed sigh).
Despite those drawbacks, the positive aspects of the experience carried the day for us both times. Your mileage may vary.

Sent my granddaughter and her boyfriend here. They didn't know it was all u can eat. My granddaughter wanted the steak but they only cooked 2 ways. Rare and med rare. She was really disappointed. They sat by a window which they enjoyed. Could have eaten more but nothing was said. Boyfriend enjoyed the experience but would not do it again because of the price almost $100.00 for 2.

Breakfast INSIDE the castle & meet/greet with Princesses
|
|
Cons:
|
Small portions, food not accurately described on menu, meet/greet when eating
|

Ok, this ADR is all about WHERE you are in the MK and WHO you can meet. That is what it is all about. The food is pretty blah, nothing special (I enjoyed the counter service at my resort for breakfast MORE).
The service was fantastic and the location is truly one-of-a-kind. The dishes were not accurately described on the menu, some things had tomato baked into them or pesto sauce all over it. Also, being interrupted over and over again to have your photo taken with the Princesses was a bit awkward. Do you eat? Or do you wait until the Princess has been by? Either way your food is getting cold.
We were lucky and saw Jasmine, Snow White, Aurora and Ariel at our breakfast on 12/2. Cinderella, of course, greets you as you enter the castle. I was happy with our line up.
Keep in mind, that you are paying A LOT of money or using 2 dining credits to be in the Castle and to meet a group of Princesses at one time, because it certainly isn't for the food. Would we go again? More than likely not, I'd like to try the Norway Pavilion next time.

I decided to surprise my wife with this. She had never eaten in the castle and neither have I. Well the first thing I wanted to do was look at the menu and see what kind of selection they had. I looked at the lunch and dinner menus and they did seem to have what I was looking for. So someone had told me that they do breakfast at the castle well that seemed to work out perfect. Pretty much all you can eat and was pretty good. Not knowing what to expect, I only thought that you just took pictures with Cinderella but when you are up there they announce all the princess in every movie from Snow White to Aladdin. It's more for kids but I would highly recommend it if you have not done it.

We had eaten lunch and dinner here on two previous trips. Lunch was good and dinner was awful. I was nervous about breakfast based on our last dinner experience, but I knew the kids love being in the castle (as do I) and the new breakfast menu sounded really good. I was also worried about timing since CRT lunch and dinner were always such long meals. Thankfully, none of my worries were an issue at breakfast.
The pastry platter is super yum. DH had the steak and eggs and I had the crepes...and both were a super nice treat. It was just so nice to have things like this for breakfast. DD6 also asked for seconds on eggs and it was no problem.
And for the first time in our CRT experiences... we got a window seat! It was so nice b/c I could see the crowd forming and knew the park hadn't opened yet. Which was even better b/c our server got us out the door right as the park was opening... so no missing out on those glorious early morning low crowds.
The princess interaction was also very good. We had a great Jasmine...super playful with our girls and Snow White was very chatty.

Ate here on 11/14/2012. We celebrated my husbands birthday here that morning. It was great, they gave him a sword & a wishing star. The princesses really gave him the royal treatment lol. Love the Lobster and Crab Crepes, had to have seconds. Will be seeing this place again in Oct 2013.

The lobster and crab crepes were out of this world! We were two adults going here for our anniversary and although noisy, it was great to be eating in a castle for it.

I must say that I was a bit disappointed on our visit to the Castle on Nov 3rd. The way that they lined you up to meet Cinderella was way too rushed and unfriendly. The attendent grabbed the autograph book from my GD and had Cinderella sign it before she even got up to meet her. Cinderella barely took a second to even greet her before the picture was snapped and you are told to go upstairs. The breakfast was extremely rushed and I didn't even finish my breakfast before our server was removing all the dishes from the table. Don't ask for any refills on your drinks because their attitudes clearly let you know that breakfast is over and they want you to leave. The food is good if you have time to eat it. It's still fun to do just to meet all of the Princesses and get your pictures and autographs but don't expect to sit back and enjoy the moment that you have paid the big bucks for.

This received a 5 because it was in the castle, otherwise it would be a 2. I don't eat eggs and they should have more options on menu to compensate for this. French toast was good, service was atrocious. They were rude whenever you asked for something and walked around miserable the entire meal. Cinderella, Jasmine and Snow White really took time out with the children, the others were just making the rounds. We can say we ate in the castle, I wouldn't go back with so many other character dining options.

It is wonderful to get photos taken with princesses that will save parents from waiting in long lines at meet and greets. The chef was attentive to my son's food allergies and made him an exclusive breakfast just for him. He loved the food so much he wouldn't stop eating for photos with the princesses. When his favorite came, Belle, I told him now was the time for a photo. He replied, "I am much too busy eating yummy food to have a photo taken with a princess." WAY TO GO, CHEF! My daughter enjoyed the french toast sticks, but liked my stuffed french toast better. It is a rich dish, so be prepared! I tasted my husband's steak and it was well flavored and tender. The food was hot and delicious. My complaint about the experience is there is no child involvement. At Crystal Palace there's a parade, At Tusker House there's a parade with instruments, at Hollywood and Vine there's a dance show and conga line, etc. We had a wishing star on our table, but my kids, ages 3/6 didn't care about it. My son traded his sword for a wand which was fun for them for a moment. The princesses were nice, but rushed to get around the room. They do not come back to the table multiple times like other characters at other places. Also, some are more friendly than others. We used our Disney Dining Plan and I am glad I gave the kids the experience, but I wouldn't pay cash for it. I'd take them to a different breakfast instead.

No Snow White, scaled down from years past

This was my third trip to CRT and to be honest, I think they have scaled back a lot since the last time I was there (18mos ago).
The thrill of seeing Cinderella in the lobby is always special for my daughter and she was so very friendly as she always has been.
However, upon going upstairs to the main restaurant, the feel changed for us this year. You used to be greeted by someone handing out beautiful feathered and sparkled wands, there were wishing stars at all the place settings. We found the general atmosphere was dismal. And when we arrived there were no princesses around. Someone did come around after we ordered and gave my DD(5) a plastic wand, which I guess she didn't really like since she put it down and never picked it up again. And she didn't really need to since there was no pomp & circumstance going on.
The food was pretty much the same - eggs, sausage, bacon, french toast sticks for the kids. You have to ask for more, but they will bring seconds on all the food. It's a decent breakfast, nothing to gush over.
Snow White was missing this time around. We saw Ariel, Belle and Aurora, but Snow White's absence was definitely noticed by us and several neighboring tables. The princesses seemed to rush thru each table. They were friendly but the whole experience was much less enjoyable then it has been in the past.
They brought my DD a cupcake to celebrate her bday, but the waitress just sort of dumped it on the table and walked away. I would think they should treat their guests a bit more "royally".
Maybe it was an off day, but I am going to skip CRT on the next trip and try Akershus in Epcot for breakfast instead.

Being in the castle again was worth the price. That's the only reason to go. If you are used to Eggo waffles for breakfast you will think the food is fantastic, otherwise it's something in your stomach. Fancy names, poor execution - grocery store pastries. Characters are the typical high school theatre alums, quite bright and "princessy" (it's a word in their world, trust me) Your princesses will be thrilled and it's worth the experience but don't expect good food. Enjoy!

Ate both Breakfast and Dinner recently and apparently they have a new Chef. The breakfast menu had beef tenderloin and another dish with crepes, crab and lobster. Not the meal we got on our last visit. The tenderloin was delicious and had a spicy fritatta under it. The lobster and crab came on crepes with a poached egg and hollandaise sauce. They even slipped us a stuffed french toast fro us to try as we had trouble deciding on an entree.
Best meal we’ve ever eaten at the Castle. Hope the new chef keeps the good stuff coming….
