My sister, cousin, my four kids and I stayed at the Treehouses over the Tower of Terror Race weekend. We loved the roominess--there was privacy for everyone, the kitchen was great. . .we were in an ideal location, close to the boat dock, the path to SS and the pool. Since we drove in, transportation wasn't an issue, and we used the boat transpo to DT Disney several times. Parking however WAS an issue. When we returned after the race (3 AM), we had to park quite a way from our treehouse, which wasn't fun. BUT all in all we loved it and would definitely return. They have all the upside of the Ft Wilderness cabins without the downsides there.

Stayed in the new Treehouse Villas and must say they are extremely nice. It added a new concept to our past Disney experience. We usually stay in the Value resorts for the kids but this time we went for luxury and got it! Quiet, serene, peaceful. The fun of a resort atmosphere exists here. Recommend it highly!

We had a such a fun time here Labor Day weekend! We had 7 comfortably in the Treehouse. Beautiful inside and the fold-out bed was comfortable (unlike for some of the other resorts). The fold out chair was about the same padding (although we didn't use it), but could certainly be used as well.
The internal buses were constant, so there was really no big issues here...except that you had two bus systems (and SSR has many stops). You can always call the bell service for a golf cart ride to (anywhere) but worked out to use sometime for the dining and main desk. I think they should work out something for the boating system...like have the times shown of the next boat arrival.
It looked so fun that some folks were grilling out one night, that I really wished we could have done that! Bathrooms, laundry, Mousekeeping were all excellent...as was the staff at SSR!! No issues with bugs and lovely weather!

We stayed here 7/24-7/29 and our party of 6 was just perfect for the THV, any more than that would be crammed as far as i am concerned. Our party was 1 guy and 5 females and with only 2 washrooms in there, well let's say there were lineups to shower. The walk to SSR was ok. Takes about 10min from our villa which was right near the entrance to the villas to main building. The only draw back was if you happened to be at the Treehouse when the skies opened up for a shower or storm then you were pretty much stranded there unless you had a car. The internal bus service was great. The north stand was right outside our door and never had more the 5-10 min wait. Always seemed to time it perfectly with park buses when they would drop you at Springs bus stop. Now the boat service would probably better if it was on the POR run. It just makes more sense since it has to go right by it. The villas themselves are beautiful. I was lucky enough to get one the first time calling DVC.

Six of us (4 adults, 2 kids)stayed from July 5-10th, 2009 and loved the treehouse! Everything inside was absolutely beautiful! I loved the decor and didn't have a problem with the lighting. The master bathroom was amazing! The treehouse was a good size for our party, but I think it would have been too cramped with 3 more people sleeping on the pullout sofa and chair.I was surprised how dense the foliage was and that our treehouse was literally perched in a swamp. It was a beautiful setting, but with it came more bugs than I had even expected! We were never able to sit on the huge deck because of them! And when we tried to use the Treehouse pool (very nice!!)the bugs just ate me alive and I had to leave. I did have bug spray with us, but who wants to wear smelly bug spray all day and night when it is so hot, sticky and humid? The rest of the trip we walked to the main pool at SS which took 10-15 minutes from our treehouse. The bus stop was right in front of our treehouse and they came often. I was glad we used our own car because I think it would have taken up a lot of time transferring over to SS and then catching another bus to wherever you were going. We also took the ferry from the treehouse dock to DD. It was a pleasant experience, but we had to wait and it was not so speedy. We had two cars and had to scramble for an extra spot each night because there was only one in front of each treehouse with extra spots scattered throughout the complex. I would stay here again because the treehouse itself was so beautiful, but beware! You'd better be 'at one with nature' to truly enjoy it. If you're an indoor, air-conditioning person with a fear of bugs, you might want to stay somewhere else.

two step process on transportation system (buses) to go anywhere
|
|
My family and I had stayed at the tree houses several years ago (about three different times)prior to them closing 4 years ago. I really liked the tree houses so when they became available again I called to use my DVC points to transfer a prior reservation that I had at Saratogo Springs itself. The accomodations were nice although I found them very dark and the lights (other than above the kitchen island) did not do much to brighten up the place. Moving the downstairs bedroom up to the main floor may have reduced the "footprint" but it also made for cramped living quarters. Although the treehouses sleep nine...they don't specifiy up front that one of the bedrooms have bunkbeds that are designed for children. We had seven adults and my son and his friend (25 and 27) used the bunk bedroom so as not to lose all living space in the living area.
The bus transportation consists of an "internal" bus which picks you up at one of two bus stops then drops you off at the main Saratogo Springs "Springs" stop and from there you can board a bus to your destination. You can also take a boat to down town disney (pleasure Island) directly from the treehouse area. This two-step process really adds time to your commute depending on whether or not the buses are actually running at the supposed "20 minute" schedule. At times returning from the park was almost a two hour ordeal. The other thing that has changed about the treehouses is that before they reopened you used to be able to rent a golf cart and use it within the treehouse area and what was then the Disney Institute, even taking it down to downtown disney, pleasure Island and West Side. That really did ease the transportation situation especially if you were just going to the marketplace or to a pool. I would like to see them reinstitute that policy as they allow golf cart rentals at Fort Wilderness. All in all it was not unpleasant and of course everything was "brand-new". I have reservations coming up in December for the treehouse villas and I think I probably will try to get them changed if possible. It used to be my favorite but now I do think it is too dark, too cramped and too complicated to get anywhere.
