Cast members lack of knowledge

All cast members (including leads!) need to be more informed during special events. We had 7:30 PM tickets to the Candlelight Processional 12/13 to see Dick Van Dyke. Cast members did not know when and where guests could begin waiting in line for the 7:30 performance. We were told to go outside Disneyland to a ticket booth to obtain a wrist band for the Candlelight admission. After waiting in line at the ticket booth we found it was not necessary. We had to wait to re-enter the park and find the appropriate line. Not one cast member said they would find the answer to our questions until we requested to speak to a lead. The lead gave us the wrong information and directed us to the wrong line. We finally found the line (thanks to other guests!) and enjoyed an awesome performance.
We just returned from WDW's Candlelight Processional with Andy Garcia, Blair Underwood and James Denton and there were no problems! All WDW cast members were quite informed, very helpful and courteous. Disneyland cast members need to learn from WDW cast members about courtesy, show and efficiency.

Wish there was more about Disneyland & the Holidays
|

We (2 Adults) enjoyed the Holiday Time at Disneyland tour in December 2011. I called 29 days in advance of arrival, and there was "plenty of room" according to the cast member on the phone. They offer discounted pricing to AAA Members and Annual Pass holders, so be sure to mention your affiliation. We selected a Friday and the later tour(so we could enjoy the backdrop of a lighted Small World during the parade).
We picked up our Tour passes at Will Call - outside of the parks - a day ahead, but you can pick them up whenever. Our tour guide was Stephanie. Very cheerful, an excellent speaker, and stayed pretty much to what we assume is a script. As stated in other reviews, the topic is primarily Christmas Traditions around the World. There is some discussion of Disneyland Holiday prep, but not nearly enough (again, they stick to their script). We wished they would have talked more about how many people, how many nights it takes, the tedious hours of preparation, etc. However we we did enjoy the Tour. Our group included a person on a scooter, and the tour was able to accommodate the guest.
We walked through Main St, Fantasyland, Adventureland, and NO Square. Stopping occasionally along the way. When we arrived at Haunted Mansion Holiday, we were taken to the front of the line. After HMH, we met up and were headed to the Disneyland RR where we boarded first. When we arrived at Its a Small World Holiday, we had to wait 5 minutes (still front of the line, compared to 90min wait), then we all boarded the same boat for the merriest cruise that ever sailed. We then headed to collect our cocoa and gingerbread cookie (which was much better than expected: soft and yummy), and took our front of the parade seats in from two rows of chairs. As we waited for the parade, the guides shared a book about Walt and the parks with each group and gave us out special pins.
The tour guide speaks through a wireless device and the group members wear wired headphones. The headphones have clearly been worn many times, and they check in and out - which is a bummer. Normally along the route you would hear Christmas carols (sing a long!), but the ipod died during the longest period of music play, and the tour guided didn't notice until she went to speak again. It's not the end of the world, but I can imagine how much more festive it would be with music playing.
All in all, we found the cost to be worth the expense. We would both do it again. And we are now interested in taking the other Tours offered throughout the year.
