We stayed at the Gaylord from June 28 to july 2nd. We could not get our DVC for this time (short notice) and the Gaylord was having a $119 rate. Beware, the resort fees bring the nightly rate to $165. The food is expensive and not exactly child friendly. A prepackaged, mediocre turkey sandwich is $9.50. A chai latte is 5.00.
On the second day houskeeping threw out 3 publix bags of unopened snack food. The hotel comped our lunch and was very apologetic.
The room was clean and on the size scale of Animal Kingdom rooms. The beds are comfy.
The hotel is beautiful and it is massive.
Nothing compares to a Disney hotel. For $165 a family could get a Disney moderate hotel and have a magical time without the added fees.
I would suggest taking a ride out to the Gaylord and pehaps have lunch or dinner at Villa di Flora buffet. They do not have a childs section but made an order af spaghetti for our kids. This place is a must see.
I would recommend it but I wouldn't stay here again.

My family and I stayed at Gaylord for 2 nights recently. We decided to stay here since they were advertising a rate of $119. When we received our final bill on the day of checkout we were very surprised with the additional fee's that they charge PER DAY! $12.84 for parking per day and $16.95 for a resort fee, which includes the use of the in room computer, 2 bottles of water and a daily newspaper. This is a very nice hotel but the $119 a night rate is very deceiving once they add on the daily fee's. The nightly rate came to $165 once the fee's were added on.I would not stay here again unless they offered a very low room rate since you have to take the additional fee's into consideration. You are better off staying at one of the Disney resorts as they do not have resort/parking fee's.

We had an opportunity to add on a night to our most recent Disney vacation and Disney could not accommodate this request. We saw the special rate for the Gaylord Palms Resort and since I have been eyeing this resort for several years we took the opportunity to add one nights stay to this resort. It was absolutely amazing! Beautiful landscapes, wonderful restaurants, excellent staff.
However, one word of comment for those of you used to staying in the world. Gaylord Palms charges $12-$20 for parking per night (+ tax) and also an additional service fee per day of $16.95 (internet access/buses to the parks etc). When you add taxes to all of this we ending up paying $165.77 per night and not the $119 rate that we thought we had booked. If we had booked several nights here we would have really been upset by the bottom line.
This resort is absolutely beautiful and worth the money, however, be warned to factor in the additional charges and fees. If you are used to booking using Disney's internet you will see the bottom line and know exactly what you will be charged. Not so with booking outside the world.
If you cannot stay here, it is worth paying the parking fee to take a look around the grounds.

I was not an overnight guest here but I did recently attend the ICE! event at their convention center. We had advance tickets which gave us a $2 discount on parking. Parking was still $10. though.
The exhibit is nice and a good change for us Floridians who don't get to experience it much. We toured some of the hotel and it seemed very nice. We concluded though that it was a better adults only or older children resort. The shops and restaurants are geared that way too. But they do give some really great rates and they are just a little bit down from Pop Century, so you aren't too far off from the mouse. In fact if you know your way around you are actually closer than some on property resorts.

March 2008 -- I decided to check out my new 2008 advertiser, Gaylord Palms and made a reservation for one night.
While I had toured Gaylord Palms before, I had never stayed there. I did not make any special arrangements with my contact person. I simply made a reservation like anyone else would. The online reservation process worked very well. We requested a Florida View King Non-Smoking room and that was exactly what we received. The room was really nice and big. We had plenty of area to have our suitcases out and move around!
There is a resort fee of $16.95 per room per night which includes: daily newspaper delivered to your guest room door; wireless internet access in your guest room and in public spaces throughout the hotel in the three atriums (St. Augustine, Everglades & Key West); in-room high speed internet access; two bottles of Dasani water delivered daily to your guest room refrigerator; complimentary local and toll free telephone calls (up to 20 minutes); use of Canyon Ranch SpaClub fitness center; complimentary scheduled shuttle bus service to Walt Disney World theme parks and a free bucket of range balls at nearby Falcon’s Fire Golf Club.
Arriving late like we did after plane travel, I have to say we were very glad to have 2 cold bottles of water waiting for us in the room. We also used the in-room internet service and enjoyed the newspaper.
The next morning, we had breakfast at Villa de Flora. It's a buffet which includes an omelet station. There were a wide variety of options to choose from. Our server was quite good.
In fact, all the employees we encountered at Gaylord Palms were above average, some exceptional!
And after breakfast we toured the atriums. In the St. Augustine area, there is a gator pond!
I look forward to staying here again in the near future and enjoy more of the resort.
