Pros: lots of fun, costumes, disney characters
Cons: none

My son & I attended Mickey's Trick or Treat Party on October 15th, at Disneyland. It was great fun!
We both got to go in costumes and enjoyed seeing other families in their costumes too. We did not ride too many rides as we were at this park all day before the party started and so we got that out of the way and had time to enjoy all the Halloween stuff. The longest line was getting a photo with Mickey & Minnie dressed in their halloween costumes too. It was worth the wait. The candy did not have much of real chocolate items but it was still fun and there we lots of treat stations. Definitely a good safe way to spend Halloween with your kids.

Pros: Halloween decorations, really fun 'after hours' feeling
Cons: Not enough lighting, some confusion, CM and guest attitude

I'll start out with the negatives, because there really aren't that many. Obviously this is a pipe dream with so many people at the party, but I wish the guests and CMs could quit being rude and complaining about things and enjoy themselves as much as everyone else. At some candy stations CMs muttered only one or two stock-phrases to guests, and then continued to talk amongst themselves; this was also a major downer at the entrance to the party. I was also told by more than one CM that they didn't work "here," they worked "over at Disneyland." The CMs running the attractions seemed to have more fun than those handing out candy. Lighten up, people - you're working extra hours on a fun night!

Also it would be nice if guests remembered that this is a family party. There were one too many PG-13 costumes, and the ever present line cutters.

As the night went on, more candy stations were added, but it wasn't clear where they were - CMs just kept telling guests to look in general areas. Like at Blue Sky Cellar, a CM actually had to made announcements that there was candy there. Also there wasn't nearly enough light in Grizzly Peak and A Bug's Land - a few extra lights here and there would have been very helpful and safer so that kids wouldn't trip. In fact one of the CMs admitted that someone had forgotten to turn on all the lights in the Animation Bldg. Oh well.

Moving on to the positives! I really wish my family had done this party years ago! It was really fun (I'm still playing the songs in my head) and the presale ticket price really can't be beat - even though the event is just four hours, you get free parking! Obviously candy and costumes are a great combination. The gates even opened early at 6:18pm! We went on Thurs Oct 8, so wait times for attractions were very low. The longest wait was for TSM which peaked at 20 minutes. Photo ops with the characters were a bit of a longer wait - Mickey and the Gang, the Princesses, and Toy Story characters had the longest lines. Treat station lines weren't bad even for the longer waits - there were just a lot of folks wanting to get candy at the same time! For the shorter lines, my family would just loop back around and hit the stations 2-3 times (sorry, but the CMs were being VERY strict about the how many pieces of candy they were handing out). If you want the healthy treat options, be sure to ask!

The three dance parties (Candy Corn Acres, Hollywood Bandstand, and Pirates Wharf) were really hopping and were a great way to rejuvenate ourselves when we needed a pick me up. The quick one-float parade was cute. Photo ops also seemed to be quicker later on in the evening. There were some obscure characters like Bowler Hat Guy and Gov. John Ratcliffe. But the absolute best "characters" of the night were the scarecrows. Definitely a great stand-up act. *wink*

We'll definitely do this party again, if we're at DLR during Halloween time. We have yet to do the WDW parties, but now I'm much more open to that idea, too. If you decide to go to one of these parties, you definitely won't be disappointed!

Pros: fun fun fun!!!
Cons: I wouldn't go on a weekend night again...

This is our 3rd time at this event, first time on a Friday night. It was much busier, and I think it sold out. On previous years, my boys were able to get on rides over and over without any wait, and the candy lines were super quick. This time it was a little slower. The candy is the good stuff, and we all come home with FULL and HEAVY bags. They also have fruit roll up type things, apples, carrots and tasty granola mix. Many people really went all out on costumes this year. I saw a woman in a Giselle costume that must have cost hundreds... it was fabulous!! There was also a group of care bears, and all the kids were in costume. The parade was really tiny (pathetic) this year, last years was better. It literally took 3 minutes. If you have been to the WDW Halloween party, this would be a bit of a disapointment. There are no fireworks, and the parade is NOTHING like the WDW one, but it is a fun event, and my party of 20+ had a really great time. Try to go on a weeknight!!
