Pros: pros
Cons:

We stayed at the All Star Movies Resort for the second time April 29th -May 2nd. It was a short trip for myself, dd5 and a friend of ours who had never stayed on site.

I did the online check in which I really encourage you to do. We did it 2 years ago and it worked out great then and didn't disappoint this time either. We used the special luggage tag for our checked baggage this time. I was nervous but gave it a try anyway. We arrived at 11:30 at the resort. Check in was super quick-5 mins total with no wait in line. Our room was ready and when we opened the door our checked luggage was in it waiting for us! The staff was courteous and efficient.

We stayed in the Toy Story building # 9 room 9830. It was very quite with no noise whatsoever but close enough to the pool, food court and main building that it was worth the extra # for a preferred room. There was a small fridge-just a warning-there were no controls on it so we could not adjust the temp to make things colder and our stuff was cool not cold-no freezer with it.

The A/C would not adjust to below 68 degrees and is motion sensitive so our room was warmer at the end of the day than what we wanted and cooler at night which was good. We got a Mickey Mouse towel creation on the bed but nothing after that.

Mousekeeping was great and when we requested a bedrail and extra towels for swimming it was brought to us within 10 minutes. There is also a clothesline in the shower which was a surprise so bring a few clothes pins to hang your swim suits.

Food court was never crowded and we always found seating by the T.V/kid area no matter what time of day we were there. Food choices were great-with fruits and veggies available as well as yogurt and cold cereal with juices and milk-get the refillable mug-its a great value and any counter service in the parks will give you free ice water to put in it-bring packets of lemonade or ice tea to add to it if you prefer.

Bus service was great and rarely crowded. The longest we waited was 10 mins. At times we were the only 3 on the bus! At the Magic Kingdom, the longest wait time was 33 mins and at Epcot, we didn't wait at all for anything longer than 5 mins!..

Over all...will stay here again --Disney great job!

Pros: location, value, cast members
Cons: none

This was our first trip to WDW! It was so much fun!! We were a group of 10 including an infant. We stayed at All Star Movies a whole week (Jan. 26th-Feb.2nd 2013).

We were in three rooms (side by side) in the Herbie Love Bug section. It was very peaceful and we had a beautiful view of the 'foresty' area. The rooms were clean and were the size of a Best Western room. Each room had a mini fridge which was useful for storing all the drinks we accumulated (we were on the quick-dining plan).

From the airport we took the Magical Express. The bus driver was really funny and everyone was cheering as we passed under the "Welcome to WDW" sign!

Most of the bus was headed to All Star Movies and even then we waited no longer than 5 minutes to get to check in. Efficiency is an art at Disney World! We've been to several theme parks in Texas and WDW has the shortest wait times for everything (from food lines to ride lines). We were very impressed!

At the front desk all the females were given flowers and the kids balloons! Every one is so friendly and happy. After unpacking we enjoyed walking around the resort. Our rooms seemed to be the farthest from the food court and it was about a 4min walk.

Everyone's favorite past time away from the parks was the pool. It is beautiful, it was never crowded and there is a nearby bar area for the adults. My favorite memory from the trip is all of us hanging out around the pool just talking. The weather was perfect! We visited the pool 4 times during out stay.

Bus transportation: we didn't rent a car and used Disney transportation for everything. The longest we waited was 8 mins and it wasn't at the resort it was at Downtown Disney. Our family travelled together except for in the afternoons when my Dad would leave the parks for a nap, he said it took less than 10 minutes to and from the parks to the rooms. He'd meet back with us at the parks at night. We never had a problem even though we had strollers and backpacks. I loved the busses because it meant that we didn't have to worry about maps and parking, etc.

The food court is large and we always found tables for all 10 of us to eat together. The food was great! We ate here every morning and several nights. Try the Orzo soup it is delicious!

I loved the gift shop, they even helped me locate a store that sold Disney comic books (Downtown Disney). My whole family got bitten by the pin trading bug and the resort would have pin trading times (around 5:30pm). Addictive! The arcade was very cool. The first game when you enter: it's a wall of lights and the objective is to hit the lights as they blink, the more you hit the higher the score. We got very competitive, it was so much fun!!

I recommend this resort to all Disney lovers. We are already planning our next trip back.

Pros: cost, resort staff
Cons: none

Stayed at ASMovies week of 3/18. Requested preferred room in 101 Dalmations, bottom floor, connecting rooms (we needed 2). Received all requests. Arrived 9am and rooms ready. DD4 got sick on day3 with flu, resort gave us roll away bed so she didn't have to share with grandma. no charge. They also arranged transportation to Centra Care so that we could take our DD to seek medical attention no charges even though we tipped since we were so grateful at all the help. Needed prescriptions filled, front desk faxed to Turner Drug who delivers until 10pm. very grateful castmember delivered to room when delivered. Left backpack in HS on day 2 and didn't realize it until back at resort again cast members sent someone to retrieve it since it had medication in it. Our room was 1718 &1719 view was of trees, shrubs very quiet, mousekeeping was excellent and left towels animals. I would highly recommend this resort since they were so accommodating to my family during our stay will always come back.We were to have dinner at 1900 Park Fare the day my DD got sick and had to cancel, front desk was able to rearrange our ressies so that we could go the next day. We ate at the food court and everyone was pleased. My only wish is that they would have a coffee maker and ice maker in room to freeze water for parks. Never waited for buses and only had to share buses when going to HS. We had late flight leaving and they let us check out late and helped us with all the luggage. Totally loved this our 2nd trip to the World.

Pros: Easy on the budget, All the perks of staying on property, Wonderful themeing
Cons: Shared buses

On a recent trip to WDW I decided to stay at All Star Movies for the 3rd time. I love this resort Smile.

The second I got off the Magical Express, I was greeted by warm and friendly Cast Members who held the door open for me and welcomed me to the resort. Check in was super easy as always. It would have only taken a minute or to to get my Key To the World Card but I always stop to chat with the Cast Member behind the desk. I love talking to Cast Members.

I was put up in a room on the ground floor of one of the 101 Dalmatians buildings. The room locks have been changed from sliding your card to now you need only tap it against the lock to open the door. Perfect for when you have your hands full

The room was kinda small if you traveling with a family, but I was alone so it fit my needs perfectly. The room had 2 double beds, 1 bathroom, a small table in the corner, a dresser with 3 drawers that a large flat screen TV set on top of, a wall safe, Ironing board and iron, and a hairdryer.

Along one wall was a framed picture of a Dalmatian puppy and Cruella De Vil. The border along the wall featured pictures of the resorts 5 themes (Toy Story, Fantasia, 101 Dalmatians, Mighty Ducks, and The Love Bug).

When I walked in the room, I saw that Mousekeeping left a towel and 2 wash cloths folded up into the classic 3 circle Mickey head as well as a small bird made out of a towel.

I also discovered that Disney magic as at its peak as my luggage actually beat me to my room!

I was in the 101 Dalmatians wing. The building I was in had a giant statue of Purdie and the other had giant statue of Pongo out front. The stairwells were giant fire hydrants. In between the 2 building the sidewalk was a bunch of giant red white and blue dog treats. A statue of a puppy sat watching a TV that guests could stand behind for a photo op. Tiny paw prints were in the concrete making it look as if a puppy walked in the cement for it was dry.

Cinema Hall is the main building as is where the main lobby is along with the arcade, food court, and gift shop. Reel Fun arcade is small but has a nice selection of games.

I only had one meal at the World Premier Food Court but it was very good. I had a meatball sub. It comes with coleslaw or homemade chips but I was allowed to get 2 bread sticks instead.

The sub was nice and toasted and the meatballs were large and flavorful. The bread sticks were nice and soft and had a great garlic flavor. The food court had plenty of seating.

Donald's Double Feature was the resort's gift shop and had a nice selection of hats, shirts, plush dolls, pins, and other Disney items as well as soda, water, beer, and small snacks.

The only complaint I had was the buses. All 3 of the All Star resorts (Sports Music and Movies) share a bus line with Movies being the last stop. There are few few seats on Disney buses and they were always crammed full.

Other than that, this is a great resort if your looking to save a few bucks. I only need a room for a bed and shower so it's perfect Smile

Pros: Clean rooms
Cons: Small rooms

I need to preface this review by saying that when my DD12 and I go to Disney, we stay at the Poly. However, we stayed here at All-Star Movies from Feb. 17-23 for my daughter's 7th Grade Science field trip with about 80 other students and 30 chaperones. We were all situated in the Mighty Ducks section. The hotel served its purpose. We were really only there to shower and sleep. The rooms were always clean. I don't know if that's because I left out a Mousekeeping tip envelope every morning or not. I was in a room with 3 boys. Since I got a bed of my own, we had a rollaway bed as well. Even without the rollaway, the room just seemed tiny. There definitely wasn't enough room to put your clothes away if you wanted to. As far as the buses, I can't comment. We had our own chartered buses that took us everywhere. I would recommend this place to anyone who was looking to save money. There's nothing wrong with the hotel, I just don't like the motel feel it gives off. Maybe I've just become a Disney snob. Either way, we had a great time.

Pros: Family friendly, great value
Cons:

I have been to Disney well over 35 times and have stayed in multiple properties. Since having a family, we have not stayed anywhere else other than All Star Movies. Every time I think we might try something else, some thing reminds me why we always come back here. The value is fantastic, it is so kid friendly, I love the addition of the fridge to the room, except that it did take away from clothing space but we made do. We will be returning again. The cast members were so helpful when I had a major health scare with my asthmatic daughter, I was VERY impressed with their response!

Pros: Clean, quiet, friendly
Cons:

The hotel was perfect for our High School group of 108. Our band, chorus and orchestra performed at Disney and this was a good base. Food Court was a real pleasure, selections were good and everyone was so nice. Don't miss the cookie ice cream sandwich!

Pros: characters, clean,
Cons:

Nice hotel, particularly for smaller children. Rooms are cramped but were fine for small family. Need more rooms with one king size bed, mostly 2 full size beds. Food court selection was pretty good, liked the make your own salad station. Buses were surprisingly fast, I expected a lot worse.

Pros: Food selection, clean rooms, friendly staff
Cons:

Stayed here Oct. 6-13th. Usually stay at ASMU but did not have any preferred rooms left for our dates. Read so many poor reviews on this resort but was pleasantly surprised. Requested adjoining rooms & request was honored. Stayed in Dalmations rooms 1940 & 1941. Rooms were very clean! Yes a little on the small side but planned on being in the parks as much as possible.

Food court had plenty of choices. We ate there every morning for breakfast and never had the same thing twice. Never had a problem finding a table. Cast members were extremely nice & helpful.

Pools were nice & never crowded. Never took a bus to the parks but every time we saw the lines they were not very long.

If you are looking for a 5 star hotel then you need to pay 5 star prices. But if you want a nice, clean place to stay that is within budget, then Movies is a great place to stay!

Pros: Easy to get to
Cons: Hotel is just ok

My 19 yr old son & I just got back from a 3 day trip to Disney. We stayed at All Star Movies for the first time & it was just ok. We had stay at POR last year so maybe I was just spoiled by that resort. On the plus side, when we arrived we were upgraded to a preferred room since the had originally put us in a king room not realizing that we were Mom & son rather than a couple. The concierge was not very enthusiastic about her job & spoke so quietly that I had to keep asking her to repeat herself. When we got to the room there was some sort of heater (one person said it was because the carpet had been cleaned & it was a dryer, not sure) plugged up in the room. I called to the front desk & they said they would send someone to get it while we were in the parks. When we got back that night about 9 it was still there & I had to call again. Someone finally came for it & he was shocked that we were put in that room since no one is supposed to be in a room with one of those heaters. No one offered to move us though. The room had an odd chemical smell which might have been from the carpet cleaning. The room was clean but very small. It was fine for the 2 of us but when we go back next year we'll stay back at POR just foe comfort. The hotel is fine, but just fine. Nothing spectacular. From now on we will spend a little extra for a Moderate resort. It really is worth the extra money

Pros: very disney
Cons: none

We stayed here Sept. 30- Oct. 6. We were in Dalmations, first floor, 3 adjoining rooms, party of 8. Everything went smoothly except we had no hot water first 2 days. After 2 trips to complain they got it fixed. Mousekeeping was wonderful, Norma kept our rooms spotless & we got towel creations 3 times. Food court pretty good except for Oct.4- pouring rain Halloween party washed out- got back to resort around 10 pm to bedlam. Food court was packed & running out of food. Cooler cases were empty- no pastries, cookies- hot food almost gone, they shut done 1 food bay & was funneling what seemed like a million people into the other 2. We went to our rooms & ate a granola bar. Been to WDW a bunch of times & never saw anything like that before!

Pros: Great price, fun pool area
Cons: Small room

We stayed at the ASM resort this past week and had a great time! There were three of us - myself, my husband, and our son, who turned 4 while we were there.

Check in/out was a breeze, since we understood our dining plan and didn't have any questions. We were ready to go!!!

The room was small, but clean and ample for the three of us. We weren't in it much, and with a young child who thinks ANY hotel is awesome, it was perfect. We were in the 101 Dalmations building, having paid the extra for the "preferred" room. It was VERY worth it to be closer to the cafeteria and bus stop. I can't imagine walking all the way from the back of the property.

There are two pools, but we only used the main Fantasia pool. It was very big, and so it was never very crowded.

The bus system was very easy to use. The only time we had a long wait was the first night when we went to Downtown Disney, since for this route it is one shared bus between all the All Star resorts. When we went to the parks we had our own bus.

One thing to bear in mind, is that even though you are staying in a value resort, you can go eat anywhere! We had dinner one night at the Wilderness Lodge at the Whispering Canyon Cafe. It was fabulous! It was really fun to get to visit one of the Deluxe resorts and check it out and have the nice dinner.

The cafeteria is nothing special, but suited our needs. We ate one dinner there, and almost all of our breakfasts. we had a mini fridge in our room so we took breakfast stuff. The food was good but not spectacular. The refillable mugs were a nice perk.

We had a great stay, and would definitely pick ASM again.

Pros: Easy on the checkbook, wonderful themeing
Cons: not as many amenities rooms very small

On a recent trip to Disney I stayed at the All Star Movies resort for a 2nd time. The first time I was put all the way in the back in the Mighty Ducks buildings. This time I shelled out the extra $15 a night to get a room in the 101 Dalmatians wing. The room was kinda small but I was traveling alone and wasn't planning on being in the room much anyway. Since the last time I stayed at AS Movies (February 2010) I noticed they upgraded to Flat Panel TVs. I kept the TV on the Must Do Disney all the time I was in the room. Stacey is my favorite perk of staying on property.

I love the themeing at the resort. The 101 Dalmatians wing had fire hydrants as stairwells and giant Pongo and Purdie statues along with a puppy staring at a TV guests could get behind for a photo op. Also there where tiny paws prints in the concrete.

The Mighty Ducks wing had giant goalie masks in front of the buildings and hockey nets as stairwells. This wing also had a smaller pool with the bottom painted like a hockey rink.

The Herbie the Love Bug wing had giant Herbies in front , movie clapboards as stairwells, and a Winners Circle with a full size Herbie for a photo op. Between The Love Bug rooms and the Fantasia rooms were statues of Donald and Daisy with duck footprints in the concrete.

The Fantasia rooms had books as stairwells and a sorcerers hat and Toy solider in front. between the 2 buildings was the main pool also themed to Fantasia with Sorcerer Mickey fountain dumping water into the pool.

The final wing was themed to Toy Story and had a Bucket O' Soldiers as stairwells. A giant Buzz and Woody were in front of the buildings and a mock up of Andy's room complete with a checkers set and Rex the dinosaur and RC for a photo op.

The main building was Cinema Hall and was home to the Reel Fun arcade full of video games including a Tron pinball machine. Cinema Hall was also home to the World Premier Food Court. I only ate there once. I had breakfast in the form of a Mickey shaped waffle. Everything tastes better shaped like Mickey. Last but not least was Donald's Double Feature gift shop. They had a large variety of pins as well as anything else you may need.

The biggest complaint I've seen in past trips was that all 3 All Star resorts were serviced by 1 bus line. This wasn't the case this time. Each resort had it's own bus guaranteeing everyone a seat at the end of the night.

You don't have the amenities of the Deluxe resorts or the sit down restaurants of the Moderates, but the Values are easy on the wallet and like I said before, I don't plan to be the room much so it was perfect.

Room Tip: Pay the extra $15 a night to get a preferred room near Cinema Hall. Your feet will thank you.

Pros: price, location on property
Cons: small rooms, worn

We have stayed in ASMovies a couple times before (Dec 09, Sept 11). I like it because of the price. We get 2 rooms for our family of 6 since it is cheaper than a suite.

Last year, I remember being impressed with the new renovations - flat screen tvs, furniture, carpet, etc. But this year it seemed worn. The carpet had a clear path worn on it. Another thing that I found surprising is that in one of the rooms, there was a ripped piece of cardboard under the dresser that seemed to be placed to level it out. (It was a different type of material under the dresser in the other room.) The new fridges are nice, but in one room, it was not cool enough for milk. These are not the same fridges that we had in POR (Dec 11). I would liken them to a "cooler".

We ate in the food court a couple times. Dinner was fine, but at lunch time, the place was ransacked. I had to hunt for a straw, tables were still dirty, there was no ice to be had, etc.

On a positive note, the CMs at check-in, concierge, and store were all superb.

In the past, I have recommended ASMo to friends looking for a cheap place to stay. Not sure that I can get behind that recommendation 100% now. We are going to try out another value resort on our next trip.

Pros: Clean, Friendly staff
Cons:

We were a party of two adults and four teenagers, so we had two, adjoining rooms. Our rooms were located in building three, in the Mighty Ducks section. Our room location was nice; it was a short walk to the pool, which was always clean and not too crowded and only about a three minute walk to the food court. I used the laundry room just about ever day of our nine night stay. It was disappointing to see one of the eight washers broken during our entire stay, but finding an available washer usually was not a problem.

We only ate in the food court one time, for lunch. The food was mediocre, at best. We were a little disappointed with the food from the food court, it seemed to be of lesser quality than the other Disney resort food courts we have eaten in.

The staff in every section of the resort was always friendly and helpful and both of our rooms were always clean.

We rented a car, so I do not know how the bus service at All Star Movies is.
