Stayed Jan.15-17,2013 with family of 4. Loved that it was such a short walk to either Disneyland or DCA! Free breakfast was wonderful! View while eating breakfast was amazing, you could see the monorail and parks. Staff was very helpful. Would stay here again rather than having such a long walk to Paradise Pier.

Only slightly less magical than the Disney owned hotels

We stayed at the Carousel Inn and Suites June 9-13. The most amazing part about staying here is the location. We had a 5-minute walk each morning to the gates of Disneyland. I'm pretty sure its shorter to the gates than the walk from the Disneyland Hotel. Yeah, there's the monorail for entrance to DL, but that always seems to take awhile and you don't get to walk down Main Street. After so many trips to Disney World, the short commute was welcome. We're used to 10 minute walks just to get to the Bus stop that marks the point for another 30 minutes to get to your destination. Its a totally different experience.
We had a basic 1 queen bed room. The room was very clean. It was small but had a huge bathroom and it had nice mini-fridge and microwave. It was perfect for our needs which were basically sleep and shower. We don't get to Disneyland that often so we were at the parks every minute they were open. The room was a steal btw at around 100$ per night.
All staff we encountered were friendly and efficient. The hotel offers complimentary continental breakfast which consisted of pastries, some fruit, coffee, and juices. The best part about breakfast however was the view from the seating area. The floor to ceiling windows overlook both parks. One can clearly see the Matterhorn and other DL landmarks since it was all right across the street. Seeing the monorail whiz by really got us excited for the day!
Considering location, efficiency and friendliness of the staff, and value for pretty nice rooms, I'd bet this is just about the best non-Disney hotel to pick from.
