We are WDW people (50 times) but we planned a family vacation with my son, his wife and their children (8,6,2) on the West Coast this time to see Disneyland for the first time. We stayed in the Frontierland Tower 2 bedroom suite and paid for the concierge upgrade. The Frontierland hotel tower itself was fairly quiet and didn't seem busy at all. Elevators came quickly.
The rooms were large and the floor to ceiling windows in the corner room gave us wonderful views of Downtown Disney. The beds were very comfortable and the musical, light up headboards were a big hit with my grandaughter.
Water pressure was excellent in the showers and the vanities were well lit with plenty of counter space. The light in the bathroom itself was very dim and I don't know whether it was defective or supposed to be that dim.
Plenty of storage space in closets and doors. Fold out bed in the living room area had a nice thick mattress and was very comfortable for the kids. The small fridge was sufficient for keeping beverages cold. A microwave would have been helpful.
I admit that I have been spoiled by my WDW visits and the concierge service at the Grand Floridian so I tried to judge the Disneyland hotel room and services on it's own merit and not compare it to WDW.
Maid service was not very efficient. The first day we were out of the room by 8am and when we returned with the 2 year old at 3:30pm for her nap the room was still not made up. We finally called for towels at 5pm. The 20.00 daily tip went back in my pocket for that day. The second day we called and asked for an early housekeeping service, were out of the room by 8am and when we returned at 3pm Housekeeping had just arrived so we had to stay out of the room until they were finished. They barely got the room cleaned so there were certainly no towel animals for the grandchildren.
The concierge service was very nice, just very inconvenient to go back and forth from one building to another. The food was good and the presentations were nice. The stocked fridge for pop and juices was nice.I just wish that water would have been kept in their also so we would not have to find someone to bring it from the back for us.
The evening wine service on the concierge level was where I really was disappointed. I was used to having the wine and champagne out and you could help yourself. At the Disneyland Hotel it was all kept out of sight, you had to find one of the wait staff and ask for what you wanted and they would not bring it to you unless you were seated. There were times that there were no tables and they would not just hand me the glass of champagne. I had to wait for a table to open then they would finally bring it over to me. Then if you wanted a second glass it was difficult to get their attention and you had to go up to the door to their storage area, ask for another glass and go sit down again. When I asked for two glasses the second night so I would not have to get up again, they told me no, one glass at a time was the rule. The concierge staff themselves were very helpful and polite but the way you have to get a glass of wine or champagne is ridiculous. I am not a drinker but after a day in the parks with 3 small children, I was ready for a glass or two of champagne and it was a real bother with the system they have. Aside from that, the charge for the upgrade was worth it when you looked at 7 people having breakfasts and snacks for 4 days.

We had a great experience at the Disneyland Hotel. Check in was at the main desk, but we had a special Concierge folder with information about Concierge services and the E-ticket lounge waiting for us there. There was also a personalized itinerary with all of our dinner and activity reservations listed. The cast member checking us in gave each of the kids a signed character picture.
The rooms were lovely. They were comparable in size to deluxe rooms at Disney World...actually, they seemed larger. The floor to ceiling windows gave us an amazing view. We could actually watch fireworks from bed! We were always able to get right on an elevator.
The E-ticket lounge was well staffed and well stocked. We stayed on the 9th floor and the lounge was on the 11th floor, so it was convenient. The first time we came in, Glyndonna came over and explained all the food and beverage services. In the morning, there was oatmeal, cold cereal, pastries, bagels, toast, fruit, and meat and cheese as well as juice, milk, and coffee. In the afternoon, there was "Uncrustable" sandwiches, baked goods, fruit, snack mixes, tea and water. From 5-7 there were hot appetizers (one was vegetarian), cheese tray (the evening one was awesome with brie, blue cheese, gouda, and more plain cheese too), veggie tray, kettle chips or tortilla chips with salsa, water, lemonade, and tea.
They had a fridge of drinks available anytime. It was always stocked with juice boxes, Coke, Diet Coke, Coke Zero, Sprite, and tomato juice. They had bottles of water in the back, you just had to ask for them. We only took them once to the park, otherwise, the water tasted good from the tap. They also had wine and beer available all day. I saw people get chocolate milk from the back too. Pretty much, anything someone asked for, they had.
We didn't use the services of the Concierge at the desk, but we were always greeted when we walked in. They also called us with park hours, etc.
We enjoyed the entire trip! Our only regret was that it wasn't longer!

We stayed in the Fairy Tale Suite on February 4th. Of all of the signature suites, it is in the best location because two of the suites are on the back side of the Adventureland Tower so you can't see the fireworks out their windows and the Mickey Mouse Suite, while on the front side of the tower, doesn't have a second wall of windows. Only the Fairy Tale Suite does. So the least expensive option is also the best located. It is also beautiful. There is a lot of artwork with castles and princesses. There is a "Tinker Bell noise" every time you open and close the main door to the suite. When that happens, inside, lights flicker across the wall, ending in a niche with a crystal castle and a small image of Tinker Bell appears in the niche above the castle. There are 5 light switches in the bathroom alone, it is so huge. There is a hand-tiled castle above the whirlpool tub and the tub has not only light but scent features as well. The huge shower is also a steam shower. When the lights are off in the bathroom, you can turn on the Twinkle Lights and you see a glow from underneath the sink bases. The bed is comfy and has a tiara inspired top. The tv arises out of its dresser when you want it on and disappears so as not to block the view when you don't. We had a fruit basket when we checked in, milk and cookies were brought later in the evening, and chocolates were put out for turndown. That's in addition to all of the goodies in the lounge--snacks until 4pm, hot appetizers 5-7 (cheese ravioli and crab cakes), desserts 8-10 and breakfast starting at 6:30. The fireworks were canceled that night or we would have watched them in the lounge with the music they pipe in. There's lots of windows in the lounge and plenty of places to sit, including cute small tables with Tinker Bell on them.

We are checking out tomorrow after a 3 night girls stay with 3 adults and a 3 and 4 year old. Stayed in the newly renovated. Dreams tower on a pass holder disc rate. Booked concierge standard view and was upgraded to a nice DTD view. Room renovation is beautiful with great light up fireworks scene above the bed that plays A Dream is a Wish Your Heart Makes when you turn it on. E-Ticket lounge is nice-wonderful cast members who spent a lot of time talking to us about the renovations and changes. The offerings here are OK- but not on par with dome WDW properties like the GF, but the are quite adequate. This hotel holds many memories for me so while others may like the newer Grand CA, the DL Hotel will always be my favorite!
