Pros: Everything
Cons: None

We attended the Pirate and Princess Party on a rainy night and we felt like we had the park to ourselves. We walked right on to all the rides with no wait. We even rode Big Thunder Mountain Railroad five times in a row without ever getting off the train because there was no one in line! The parade and fireworks were great. We actually liked the fireworks better than "Wishes" (and we were impressed they could set them off in the pouring rain). When we left Magic Kingdom, we were completely alone on Main Street. This sight alone was worth the price of the night.

Pros: Everything!
Cons: None!

This was the highlight of the trip! The fireworks and parade was awesome. You could get on and off the rides quickly and easily. The party starts at I believe 7:00 and you can get in the park at 4:00 and it goes until midnight. The only long waits that we saw were for the princesses, and that was as bad as during the day.

Pros: Don't have to wait long for the rides
Cons: Lines to see the princesses were RIDICULOUS

We attended the party on 5/16/08. This was the first time that we attended one of the MK parties. We were really looking forward to this event, but we left feeling a little less than satisfied.
I will start off by listing the positive:
1) The lines for the rides were great. Most of the rides you could walk right on (except Dumbo...that was still crowded!).
2) It was great fun to see all of the kids (and adults!) dressed up in such wonderful costumes.

Now, here is the negative:

1) We were VERY dissappointed at the lack of opportunity to meet characters. The lines were long at ALL of the different character meet and greet locations. There was a character meet and greet with Mickey, etc in Tomorrowland. Mickey and his friends looked so great in their special costumes and I would have LOVED a picture of my kids with them, but the lines were ridiculous. I just had to decide, which is better use of our time? Waiting in line for 45+ minutes or taking advantage of the walk on waits for the rides? We opted for the rides, but I really thought that by spending the extra money for the party tickets (we had already paid for park hopper tickets for the day), that I would get to do BOTH rides and character greets.
The lines for meeting the princesses were even WORSE. The wait in Toontown was always 90+ minutes. I noticed that lots of parents were using little tricks (I hate to use the word cheating), but they would have multiple family members in each of the lines and have their child shuttling to whoever made it to the front of the line. Meanwhile, the rest of us would have to wait while the child usually had to fight through the crowds to the front since the family member they were with is still in the OTHER line. I know that Disney can't control that, but it wasn't fair to others waiting in line, especially since Disney was playing the old bait and switch in many of the character stations. Here is an example: we got in line to meet Jasmine. My daughter's favorite princess (prior to this situation) was Jasmine and she had specifically asked to wear a Jasmine costume for the party. She had full Jasmine clothes on from head to toe to look like her favorite princess. We waited in line to meet Jasmine for 30+ minutes. As we got closer to the front (there were only about 5 little girls in front of us), we were warned that Jasmine would be leaving. This was towards the end of the evening (around 11:30 p.m.) and by this time everyone is tired. I can understand that. But literally, including my daughter, there were only about 7 girls left in the line. They could have just cut off the line after that. So just as about there is one more little girl ahead of my daughter, Jasmine has to leave. I was very angry. My daughter was one of the few that was dressed as Jasmine in line and was so close. They could have just let the last 3 or 4 little girls see her, instead of dissappointing them. I am one of those people that LOVES Disney and I believe in feeling the magic of everything, especially the little details, while we have the wonderful opportunity to vacation there. However, I was NOT impressed at how the last few little girls were treated in this situation. What would have been the harm in letting Jasmine stay 5 more minutes?
I just wanted to warn those planning on attending the party that there are many fun aspects of the party including walk on rides, the fireworks, the atmosphere, etc. However, if character meet and greets are important to you and this is why you are spending the extra money, please plan on spending a lot of time in line to see your favorite characters.

Please be aware that there are VERY limited dining options during the party. The majority of the restaurants are closed. Even the few counter service locations have limited menus. I was very disappointed by this. Even trying to locate carts open to sell drinks at the end of the hot evening was very difficult. It was impossible to find a place selling drinks or snacks after 11 p.m.
If you want to eat at a table service, you MUST make ADRs. Counter service was limited to Pecos Bills and Cosmic Rays. It would have been very nice if additional counter service locations were open. I thought that we would be able to eat at Columbia Harbor House, but it was closed.
You may want to eat at another park or your hotel before the party. Also don't plan on having many snacking options. After 11 p.m., the only place we could find drinks was at the candy store as we were leaving the park. I find it funny how Disney keeps all the STORES open for the event, but not as many dining/food options.

Pros: Captian Jack
Cons: Can't think of any!

We attended on 4 June. This was our 2nd PPP and it was just as good as the first. My suggestion is sleep in and then you don't fall apart before the end of the night. We enjoyed some shows, treasure hunting, no waits for line and meeing Captian Jack, what could have been better??? Fireworks are my favorite of all the parties. My son dressed up and loved every minute of it, someone even asked to take a picture of him. If you have the time and extra money, totally worth it!!

Pros: Low Crowds, Walk on Rides, Meeting Characters, Dress up
Cons: None

This was well worth the extra cost and one of the best things we have ever done at DisneyWorld!!! There were much smaller crowds and we were able to walk on all rides with no wait time!
The characters were great..I wish Elizabeth and Will would have been there too.
My girls ages 9 and 3 loved meeting everyone especially the princesses and Jack. They loved dressing up too!
I highly recommend this party to everyone.

Pros: no crowds, no waits, great parties for small kids
Cons: gave beads only, few food options

Went on May 21, my daugther (3yrs) enyoyed every minute of it, she danced at the parties until midnight! Sebastian's party was a hit. Best for us, no waits at any of the rides. Many of the restaurants, counter service and carts were closed, few alternatives to get something to eat. As to the treasures, they only gave beads, no candy, but this should not be the main reason to come to this events anyway.

Pros: The Floats in the Parade
Cons: None.

We went to the Pirate and Princess Party on May 16th. The weather was beautiful and the crowd was mild. Just about every ride had little to no wait at all. The best part of this party was the parade. The floats they have for this parade are absolutely amazing. It was worth the price of admission by itself. The kids really enjoyed wearing the beads they gave out and each station had a different color. There aren't as many stations as the Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween Party. I have absolutely nothing bad to say about our trip to this party.

Pros: no lines for rides, fireworks, parade, "extra" characters
Cons:

My family and I went to the P&P party on two different dates (5/6/08 & 5/11/08). The first night it poured!! But, I'm glad we went. We bought ponchos and had a great time. The park was empty and we were able to go on all the rides with no wait. My two daughters (3&5) were able to meet characters without waiting in lines. And, we were able to see characters that we never saw before. Although it poured during the fireworks, they were amazing!!! Some events were canceled and we tried to head for shelter most of the night so I didn't feel like we experienced everything.

That is why we decided to go to the party a second time, and thankfully, the weather was beautiful. We met Jack Sparrow and he spent a lot of time talking to my family. I would definitely recommend getting in line to meet him before you do anything else. The line to meet Jack is usually the longest (an hour wait!) Since the weather was so nice, there was definitely a larger crowd but we still did not wait in any lines. My daughters loved looking for treasure and watching the parade. And, of course, the fireworks were just as amazing the second time around!

Pros: low crowds
Cons: changes from last year - decreased benefits

We attended the Party on 05/02/08. Weather was terrific. Entered park at 4;00pm, party goers were ushered to a seperate entrance. The park was not very busy when we entered. We rode a few rides and had made dinner reservations at Tony's for 5 pm (good idea to eat early before party started). We had attended the P & P party January 2007. This time things did not seem quite so festive.

Best benefit was that we could walk on to any ride, but we really wanted to concentrate on special offerings. The parade was offered 2 times last year, just once this year, making it more crowded. It was a great parade, and fireworks were amazing - be sure to watch the fireworks from the front of the castle to get full effect.

Last time they handed out candy at the treat stations, this time just plastic beads. I was surprised that this was disappointing to us, candy was not a big deal but definitely made searching for treasure spots this time less fun.

Fewer people were dressed in costume, those that did really went all out. Dance parties seemed fun for the kids. We wanted to meet the princesses, but lines for this were at least an hour the entire night, even w/ low crowd levels, so doing that would have taken a large time investment.

All in all great for taking rides, but the week we were there was not too busy during regular park hours, so not big benefit. Would recommend doing the party once.

Pros: short to no lines, felt "special"
Cons: cost?

We are "cheap" travelers for the most part and usually don't splurge on "extras". But this was one where I am SOOO glad I did it at the last minute.

We went in first week of April and the Magic Kingdom during the day wasn't miserably packed..but had the usual lines and one had to use fastpass wisely, etc. Then we had dinner at the Castle and came out to find it basically closed and the Pirate and Princess Party had started.
It felt SOO great.

The party itself was just "okay"...the treasure was all necklaces of different colors...except a ring pop at 2 stations. And there was some music but as soon as you left fantasy land that was left behind.

BUT...there were no lines for any rides...our kids (ages 5,7,9) started at 9 a.m. and kept going strong until midnight. I think it helped that we had the park to ourself all night...it was relaxing and a chance to catch up on any rides we had missed during the day. Not all are open (so check) but all of our favorites were.

The only bad thing was we somehow missed the night time parade..have no idea how...and wish they had somehow announced it around the park or something. lol. We did catch the fireworks...and that was fabulous.

One hint...its great tradition to see the fireworks from the front of the castle...as we did...but one older fellow working at the park said that if you really want to see the fireworks without missing any of them...stay behind the castle...closer to carousel...because the castle does block a lot of them (and that was true).

We wore regular clothes all day and changed into pirate and princess wear for the party..that was about right..wouldn't have wanted to have it on all day....but nice to be in the fun by being in costume. There were plenty of kids in costume..fewer adults..but we didn't feel out of place.

Jack Sparrow was signing autographs...longest line/time wise for any character..but it turned out it was because he was talking to everyone for so long..so when you did get a turn it was really special.

Don't forget to get special photo card for night...discounts on pics with it. Smile

Pros: costumes, no lines, parade, fireworks
Cons:

I can't recommend this one enough! It was like a private party in the park! Disney pulls out all the stops for this event and really makes it special with many details. It truly made our last night in Disney "magical".

Pros: Amazing Fireworks and Parades, Almost no lines, Great entertainment, etc.
Cons: No complaints!

The Pirate and Princess Party was a blast! Some of my family got dressed up while the rest just wore the paper crowns that they gave us. Collecting treasure was fun, but the best was the no lines. At first, when the regular guests were leaving and the party guests were entering, it seemed very crowded. However, as soon as the clock struck seven the park was all ours. We waited on almost no lines! It was a great way to go on a lot of rides in a short period of time. The longest line all night was for Dumbo! The parade was really good, and I definitely suggest sitting in Frontier Land (where it starts) so as soon as its over you can get up and go. The fireworks were some of the best I've ever seen. There was so much to do for everyone. There were even some great places to get some rare photos! I loved the party, and I know my family did too! Pirate and Princess Party is a MUST!

Pros: Fantastic!
Cons: none

From start to finish this was a fantastic party! Our 5 year old twin boy and girl got to go on rides with no wait, had their pictures taken with unusual backdrops like Cinderella's coach, watched the Aladdin tutorial, saw an amazing parade, danced the night away with Sebastian and Stitch, and finally, saw the best fireworks ever!
The only slight negative - the necklace treasures, but the play value doesn't last long anyway.

Pros: Walk on rides, fun for all, costumes
Cons: none

We went to the party on April 23rd. What a fun night for all. We went as a pirate family - not super dressed up, but got us in the mood! There were some awesome costumes by guests that night! Parade was fun and fireworks with castle lighting was terrific! We even stopped into the dance party at Cosmic Rays and danced with Chip & Dale! Food is limited at the party so make sure you have dining setup in advanced. Well worth the money we spent.
