Best Water Slides and Lazy River

Cons:

We visited in early November with 80 degree weather. The water was plenty warm. We arrived at opening, and were able to ride every slide with zero wait. The Pina Coladas are excellent. We spent an hour just enjoying the looong lazy river.

Cons:

crowded, long lines, rough surfaces, lots of stair climbing

Thankfully we got here early and got to ride the more popular rides before the crowds poured in. Teamboat Springs is a really fun family ride. The chair lift line got so long that we opted to climb the stairs. I know I'm not in the best shape, but I thought I was going to have a heart attack...so many stairs! The lines for most rides were nearly an hour. The Creek was packed! It was wall-to-wall inner tubes (if you could even get a tube). Many people were just walking along the creek. Also, it was hard to find chairs, although they were mostly empty. As is often the case, people "reserve" chairs with a towel and never use them. My biggest complaint is about the rough/dangerous surfaces on the bottom of the pools. My husband flipped off his raft at the bottom of a slide and had about 15 inches of cuts and scrapes along his back. We had to go to first aid for numerous large bandages. Later in the day my daughter was knocked down by the waves in wave pool and cut her knee. Back to first aid again. I was sorry for my daughter and husband, but also felt disgusted to think this happens to others and how much blood gets in the water. After 20+ trips I can finally say I went to Blizzard Beach, but I'm not rushing to get back. The best thing would be to get there early, rides the big rides, eat some donuts (yum!) and leave, but given the price of tickets that's an expensive few hours. Wear water shoes...surfaces are rough and hot.

Excellent waterpark. Must try Summit Plummet one time. Do ride the chairlift to top of Mount Gushmore. Very cool (pardon the pun). Team Boat Springs alot of fun. Again...do play golf at nearby Winter Summerland.

We visited here in late May. We went straight to Summit Plummit, so there was little wait. The ski lift was a nice way to get to the top. You can walk, but why would you want to when the ski lift is there. Use the single rider line if possible to cut the wait time from several minutes to a few seconds. Also note than on Teamboat Springs, there is a 4 person minimum, so if you have fewer, you will have to wait for another group. Other than Summit Plummit, the rides were all in the moderate thrill level. The theming was neat, complete with the occasional Christmas tune. We will definitely return.

We went to Blizzard Beach twice last week. Had a wonderful time. We got there when the park opened and by lunchtime we had already been on all the slides (some multiple times) and enjoying the wave pool. My 6yr old son spent most of the time in the ski patrol training camp. It was perfect for him! I can not say enough about the awesome job the lifeguards do!! We witnessed them jumping in to help people several times. They are extremely aware of what is going on at all times. They do not hesitate for a second if someone looks like they may need help!

I've been to Blizzard Beach twice in the last month, once by myself, and once with a roommate. Each visit had been in the afternoon and lasted only a few hours. Both times I was able to get a full size chair under a cabana near Meltaway Bay.
I did Runoff Rapids, with both a double and single tube, and much prefer the double tube slide. I swam in the wave pool for a while and attempted to float on a tube in it for a bit as well. I rode Castaway Creek, once only part of the way and once the full length and managed to avoid getting dripped on by the really cold water. But a highlight was finally getting to experience Teamboat Springs. My roommate and I were paired up with a random little girl and a random woman from Canada. The ride was great and I'd love to do it again!
Blizzard Beach is growing on me a little, but I'll still be glad when Typhoon Lagoon re-opens even though it will be after our "get in for free" privileges end.

wave pool is dull ....

We only visited this water park once during our stay in August ... our children are 12,8 and 2. The big boys enjoyed the Summit Plummet & we all liked the lazy river, but after several visits to Typhoon Lagoon, this wave pool was very dull by comparison. Also, they were allowing tubes from the lazy river into the wave pool so we were pummelled by overexcited teenagers horsing around with the tubes. One thing we felt was that there is a LOT more for a 2 year old to do at Blizzard Beach ... there are several different slides for little ones & I found the staff so helpful that I could stand my little girl in line at the top & they would load her onto the slide while I ran to the bottom to catch. Sadly, our day here was cut short by a tremendous thunderstorm - we would've spent a lot longer checking out the slides. Overall an enjoyable family day for us.

We had been to Typhoon Lagoon on a previous visit (and had actually gone to TL on this visit the day before BB). We really loved Blizzard Beach. IMO, it is better than Typhoon Lagoon. It seems to have more variety of slides, it has two "kid" areas- one for little ones, and one for kids a little bit older. The Teamboat Springs family ride is awesome. The wave pool is smaller than TL, but I like the more traditional wave pool with smaller waves coming continuously for a period of time, as opposed to TL's one giant wave very two minutes. We got there early on an extra magic hour day and were able to ride all the slides one time in an hour and a half. We spent the rest of the day in the wave pool, lazy river or kid areas. While both water parks seem to get quite crowded by the afternoon, Blizzard Beach did not seem as bad as Typhoon Lagoon. If you are only going to do one water park in WDW, go to BB!

Visited on May 6. Had only been to Typhoon Lagoon on our last trip so wanted to try Blizzard Beach.
The day had sun but more cloudy times with light showers of rain. Because of this, the park wasn't busy at all and we had a lot of fun doing the rides with no wait or very little wait. We could even do them multiple times. The lazy river is longer than Typhoon's and was really nice. We took the ski lift to the family raft ride, but none of us did the steep water slides.
Although the wave pool at Typhoon is a hit, I enjoyed the rides at Blizzard. Maybe it was just because we chose a less busy day and could enjoy everything at our leisure.

FUN family raft ride, tween play area very nice
|
|
Cons:

hot pavement
|

I liked this park almost equally to Typhoon Lagoon. We never used the ski lift, but the walk to the top isn't that bad. The pavement was too hot though. They need to add more sprayers to keep the pavement wet.
The tween play area is really nice. They call it "ski school" or something like that. There were slides there that my 2 year old could do by herself, as long as my husband or I were at the bottom to catch her. I don't like that there are no ways to take a tube water slide with 2 riders- they should have that option so that parents can ride with toddlers/preschoolers who aren't able to hold on to the water tubes on their own. But the family water raft ride was really fun.
My dd15 and dd9 did the body slides at the top- they said the wait was long and the slides kind of hurt. They didn't really enjoy those.
It was a nice park- we arrived there at 1:30 after being overheated in Animal Kingdom all morning. It was so nice to go cool down there, and it was not crowded at all.

We had a great time with my DD12, DS10, and DD8. We rode everything except Summit Plummet and nothing was too scary for the 8 year old. But the climbs to the top of the slides were killers! We went to TL 3 years ago and I don't remember climbing that many steps! And by mid-afternoon the lines were quite long. DS10 decided mid-afternoon that he wanted to try SP. We waited 1/2 hour for the chair lift. When we got to the top the line was 1 hour long (for a slide that lasts maybe 5 seconds). If you are going, go early in the day.

Cons:

It rained in the morning and was overcast the rest of the day (4/5/11) and so I basically had the whole place to myself. Did the Summit Plummit about 8 times and the Slusher Gusher about 10 times. I think I must have set a record for how far I came out of the water on the Slusher Gusher-the few people at the end were impressed (note: I'm 64yo) Hadn't been to BB since 1997-nothing has changed. Anyway, just wanted to tell someone about my special 2 hours at BB.

Very fun! I went here w/ my sons age 7 and 11. some of the rides were a little scary for my 7 year old, but he still had a good time. We went to both water parks, and I will say that Typhoon Lagoon is more fun for a family; however, this park was still a good time. I don't think we could have stayed an entire day here. We stayed about four hours and that was truly enough time to enjoy each ride and have a snack before we left (we arrived later in the day and stayed until close to closing time).
