We just got back to the UK from WDW. We had the Deluxe Dinning Plan for 2 weeks. When we had this 2 years ago gratuities were included, now you are expected to leave at least 18% - we had a couple of pretty nasty comments when I refused to leave anything because the service was so bad, I made a formal complaint in one case.
This is good value if you want to eat at Disney every day and want to experience some of the fine dinning restaurants that are available. We were 3 adults, had we had the kids with us I am not sure it would have been a good deal.

We had the dining plan in 2006 and we fully enjoyed every minute of it! We got to eat at some places where we typically wouldn't eat and the kids were free to have whatever they wanted without me being concerned about the price. We found it to be a tremendous value with most of our table service meals costing more than what the cost of the plan was and we still had the counter service to use!!! We were never hungry on this trip!!! One tip I'd like to tell you about, some of the resorts offer a trade in for your unused meal credits. They give you 2 snack credits for each unused meal credit which comes in handy at the end of your trip! We found that we could use the snack credits for the big Mickey shaped crispy treats or the character cookies. The kids had so many they were able to bring them home to their friends as gifts! Ask the cast members in the food court or at the register and they'll do the trade for you. Oh yeah, we also got a lanyard and a pin in addition to snack credits for every credit we traded! Definiteley a bonus!!!

We had the dining plan for our 11/07 visit, before Disney took out the appetizer and tip.
We loved the dining plan and always had too much food, which wasn't a bad thing considering we had a small refrigerator in our room for leftovers.
It was nice to have the table service dessert option, especially because we shared with my sister and brother-in-law who did not have the dining plan. Besides, who really needs a whole dessert to herself every night?
Something my husband liked about the plan was the fact that everything had already been paid for and he didn't have to whip out his wallet three times a day for food.
Even though Disney has made changes for 2008, we'd still get the basic dining plan again. I think I'd like the new plan better if a dessert could be switched for an appetizer.
If you get the dining plan, be sure to do your homework before getting to WDW!

Our family visited WDW 12/7-12/15/07. This was the first time we used the DDP. The plan worked incredibly for our family. We couldn't believe how much more relaxing it was having the plan. Our reservations were made before we even left home and the meals were all paid for already. We all know that the prices have increased significantly over the years and when you get to the parks the last thing you want to do is shell out any more money. With the DDP you already paid for it. There were times that we really did not want to get an appetizer and dessert but did because they were included. To be honest, not having the DDP include the appetizer for 2008 isn't really a big deal because you really do get your money's worth with the meals themselves. However, I do wish they still included the gratuities because not digging in your pocket after eating was a real pleasure. It was really great too when our 9 year old would ask for an ice cream and even those were included with the snack option!
I would definitely recommend this to anyone getting a package. We are going back to WDW again in November/December of this year and have already booked the package with the DDP. You will be pleasantly surprised with the way the plan works.

The new 08 Dining Plan is a let down. Have had the plan other years and the new changes are a big draw back. Last year included appetizer, entree and dessert and gratuity. This year there is no appetizer and you have to pay the gratuity. On a meal of $200 for four people the gratuity is $40. Way too expensive after paying the price of the meal plan. If you are planning to eat out at sit down restaurants every day, this may be the way to go, but you can eat much cheaper by using good counter service. Was very disappointed in this as compared to last year. I would never do this again.

I loved having the disney dining plan. It saved my family a lot of money. The only real thing we had to pay for was breakfast. We were able to eat at a table service meal everynight including going to Jiko and a character breakfast without the dining plan we would not have been able to eat at any of the places. I would definitely recommend anyone going to purchase this as part of their vacation package.

We used the ddp for the 1st time 10/13-10/19. I was great, we ate at a lot of places we would have never tried w/out it. But we didn't want a sitdown dinner every night, we were exausted by the end of some days and would have prefered to just go back to the room. It was plenty of food and I love the snack idea, great for kids. Make reservations before you leave, you can make them when you get there but who wants to waste time deciding were to eat when you could be having fun.

The Disney Dining Plan suits our family very well as it saves us a bundle of money. When we visit Disney World, we stay on property, eat breakfast at the resort, lunches and snacks at the theme parks and we always eat at a table service or character restaurant every night.
There is a wide variety of quick service and table service to select from and even though the menues are extensive and/or offer buffet, you don't have to overindulge, just pace yourself.
It's very economical for those who enjoy dining at the character meals and table service restaurants.
Always an A+ for our family.

Used the dining plan for the first time this trip. It was very nice to not have to pay as we went. However, there is an amazing amount of food, and I always felt like we were wasting. We sacrificed one snack at the end, but managed to use everything else. I am glad we tried it. We would do it again, if we did another package.

We were on the ddp (12-07/1/08) so we were able to take advantage before the changes. Was pleasantly surprised that even though several of our dinners indicated tax and gratuity was not included it actually was. Left additional tip anyway for good service which we had at every meal. As far as I could tell we were not treated any differently because of being on the plan. And boy did it save money. It was wonferful not having to pay as you go and not having to constantly pull out your key to the world (seems like you have to do that enough as it is). Was actually concerned that we would not be able to use all of the allotments but used several of our counterservice for breakfast and it worked out perfectly. I think even with the change in 2008 this is still worth it. My opinion was too much food was included anyway, was unable to eat everything with app's, entree and dessert anyway.

WE TOOK ADVANTAGE OF THE DINING PLAN DURING OUR STAY DEC 26-JAN 1ST. WITH A FAMILY OF 5, IT CAME HANDY. WE ATE AT PLACES LIKE TONY'S TOWN SQUARE, MAYA GRILL, BOATWRIGHTS AND OTHERS. IT WAS A LOT OF FOOD. WE HAD LEFT OVERS FOR EVERY DINNER (USED AS TABLE SERVICE). FOR OUR COUNTER SERVICE, MOST OF THE TIME WE HAD BURGERS AND FRIES. THAT'S THE MOST THING MY GIRLS LIKE. FOR SNACKS, WE HAD A NICE OPTIONS SUCH AS ICE CREAM, MINNIE'S COOKIES, MILKSHAKES, COTTON, POPCORN, YOGOURT PARFAIT AND OTHERS.
WE REALLY LIKED HAVING THE DINING PLAN BUT WITH THE CHANGES COMING, WE DON'T KNOW IF WE'LL STILL USE IT. OH I ALMOST FORGOT. WE WERE TREATED AS SAME AS THE OTHER PEOPLE. BEING ON THE DDP DIDN'T MAKE ANY DIFFERENCE. WELL THE ONLY THING IS THAT YOU HAVE TO MADE ADVANCE RESERVATIONS. LIKE WE DID.

We used the DDP for the first time on our trip 12/07. We loved the DDP and will probably use it again on future trips. We had no problems with the plan and no screw up with servers not understanding how the plan works. It was easy and convenient. It was nice not having to mess with paying for meals, knowing they were pre-paid. It was easy to tell that the DDP saves you alot of money on meals. Because we were on the old DDP, I don't know how the new plan that started in 2008 compares.

Too bad its changing for 2008

The DDP should go down as one of the best deals in Disney history. We used it every time we visited over the past few years and were always happy with it. With young kids, you could really stretch out the CS credits by having them share or take a few things off the adults' meals. We always liked saving a few snack credits and getting boxes of Minnie Cookies from the gift shop for the flight home. Looking at the changes for 2008, it appears that the value is just not there anymore. We'll see.

This was our first time using the DDP. Our family of 7 visited 12/15-12/23. Prior to our visit, I planned for months. I was very frustrated with the fact that I had to decide where and when we would eat months in advance. However, it actually allowed us to be very organized in the long run and have our best vacation ever to Disney! It's nice to know where you are eating and what time. We did a lot of character meals for our three kids. We ate at places I never knew existed at Disney. True, we would not have ordered as much food as we did if we did not have the DDP. It is a great value though. When eating breakfast at our hotel, and using CS credits, we would save our two drinks for later that night or at the parks, and just refill our mugs. It can be a bit confusing knowing what is accepted as snacks at times. Some of the cast members still don't know themselves. We would definitely purchase this again for our next visit! A must!
