We tried out the tour this trip since we were going to have 4 mornings in MK. We have APs so we go to the parks a lot and like to try out new things. That being said, I would not recommend it to someone who only has a week vacation every year or less often. The tour is from 10-12 (prime hours to not have to wait in lines).
We had 3 out of the 6 kids on the tour on 2/10. It is a lot of walking from Main Street to Adventureland to Liberty Square to Fantasyland to Tomorrowland and then back down Main Street. We were able to take a stroller but it won't be as much fun for kids that depend on a stroller. My kids were 6, 8 and 8 and loved it!
Our tour guide was wonderful! Really made it magical. It was a scavenger hunt with clues all over different areas of the park. Also, more fun if your kids have good knowledge of the parks.
SPOILER
We all rode Pooh ride (skipping the line) and then met Peter Pan. At the end we got our photo with Mickey. We did not get any certificates, as I read that they have done in the past.

The Most Fun Experience ever at Magic Kingdom. We went last week (August 2012). Our guide was amazing and took care of our family and one other family for the full 2 hours. In addition to the silly, fun things like sneaking through Fantasyland, walking a tightrope, etc. through Tomorrowland and galloping on imaginary horses through Frontierland, we were brought to the front of the line on the Winnie the Pooh ride and
SPOILER ALERT.....
we got to play with Peter Pan in a private setting for about 10 minutes and we went to the front of the line to see Mickey and Minnie!!!
My kids are 5 and 7 so they were the perfect ages. The fact that they've seen all the Disney movies helped to solve all the clues. It was an amazing experience and well worth the cost! Book early!

I took the Family Magic Tour 2/6 with Lisa.
I went on this tour (me being 18) another 18 year-old, and a 32 year-old. We were the only people on the tour so we made tried to make it as fun as possible.
Lisa did a great job even though we were all adults she didn't break character. We were given a large map to carry around and we literally searched the whole park for Captain Hook's missing hook.
The end of the tour brought us to a meet and greet with Peter Pan and we received certificates stating that we were official lost boys and girls.
We were given many Disney fun facts, hints to hidden Mickeys, and we even stopped to get a fast pass.
I don't think this would be a good tour in hot weather, because it is a lot of walking. I would suggest cooler months if you'll be doing this tour with children.
This tour made our day magical, and it's inexpensive, creative, and a good time.
