Pros: Clean, Quiet, Peaceful
Cons: Loud Toliet

My partner and I stayed here for our 6 year anniversary May 15-May 20. It was our first time at a Disney resort (and our first visit to the parks in nearly 15 years). We were NOT disappointed. The resort was beautiful and the people were very friendly. We had requested to be in Magnolia Bend (the mansions) and were granted the request. It was just a short walk to the main buildings and we even had a nice view from the room. It was always clean when we came back from the parks for an afternoon break and twice we had cute animals and Mickey heads made from the fresh towels. The only negative I have, and its a stretch to come up with one, is that the toilet flushes very hard and loud. We could hear our neighbors flush in the mornings, usually around 6:30am. We were so very pleased with this resort (even more than some of the highest level resorts we visited). We can't wait to go back and stay here again!!

Pros: atmosphere, clean, close to everything, plenty of buses
Cons: not one

My wife and I just celebrated our 37th anniversary there between 05/04/11 and 05/08/11 and it was one of the most relaxing and fun vacations we have ever taken. If you get the chance, you must see Bob Jacksons show. It is lots of fun and good for the whole family. We cannot wait to go back to the Riverside.

Pros: Parking was very close to the room, room was nice and spacious
Cons: Long walk to lobby. Mildew around bathtub.

We stayed in the Alligator Bayou section April 23-27, Easter weekend. We bought our room through Travelocity as they were $50 cheaper a night and Disney would not match prices. The only thing we missed not having was Online Check-in but there really wasn't much of a wait. We tried to buy our tickets at the hotel but the Concierge lady did not seem that knowledgable on Florida resident tickets and wanted to sell us a ticket that wasn't valid for Easter so we bought those at the park. Our room had the king size bed we requested which was actually comfortable for a change. On the other hand the pillows were lousy so I was glad I'd brought my own. The room was clean other than the mildew around the bathtub and some at the top of the shower curtain, hard to clean stuff. The only other problem we had was that one of the dresser drawers was broken though we did not need it so we did not ask to have it fixed. The staff was friendly and welcoming.

Pros: Grounds, friendly staff, rooms, food, everything
Cons: only received one towel animal the entire week.

We stayed April 23-28. We were in an Alligator Bayou room. The entire time there, our vacation was great. The room was clean. The food court was good. The front desk answered all our questions and were extremely friendly. The buses were almost never crowded. We only used the main pool once but the kids loved it. Great experience for us.

Pros: landscaping, boat to Downtown Disney
Cons: huge resort

We visited Riverside on April 19-24 and had a fantastic trip. Upon checking in, I was told that they could not accommodate my request of an Alligator Bayou room with a trundle bed. At first I was very disappointed. I booked this trip in October, called to confirm my request and we were checking in at a little after 2:30 in the afternoon! Instead of my requested room, we were given an upgrade to a river view room in Magnolia Bend and a free roll-away bed! Needless to say, we were pleased. I was worried about the condition/ cleanliness of the room after reading several reviews here, and was happy to find that the room was quite tidy and attractive. Not at all dirty or run down. The location was fantastic and the view amazing. We had towel animals every day and enough coffee and shamppo. The main pool does not have enough seating space, however there is lots of shade unlike the pool at French Quarter. The rose gardens were in bloom and the landscaping was beautiful. While I do prefer the smaller French Quarter, I would stay at Riverside agin with no problem.

Pros: price, setting,
Cons: rooms, check-in

We stayed here two nights in April - have been here before and enjoy the beautiful setting of the Riverside area - plenty of walking paths with lush vegetation and scenic river! It is good value for moderate hotels at Disney - you don't feel crowded. And our request for a room close to transport was honored - my parents are not able to walk far.

However, the rooms seem pretty beat, even though I think they've been updated not too long ago (?) We had lots of mosquitoes in our room - our one daughter was covered with bites when she woke up! The carpet and walls are worn looking and the beds seemed small (I hear they will be replacing the doubles with queen size which would be great!).

We had a late arrival (around 11:30pm) due to plane delays and when we got there, discovered the online check-in desk was closed for the night - so much for checking in ahead! So, we had to wait in a fairly long line to check in with a lot of other tired, grumpy people! Also, no carts going at that hour, so if you have trouble walking and your room is far away, good luck!

Overall though, we enjoyed being at this hotel again!

Pros: Mouskeeping, friendly staff
Cons: Seagulls outside main entrance and food court:(

We stayed March 3rd to March 12th. Second time at that resort. Man, we just love it. This time mousekeeping was a 10, they left plenty of towels and we got towel animals every day. The food at the food court was great. My only negative thing about this time was the seagulls outside the food court. I was always afraid to get pooped on while walking outside the food court. I really hope that they do something about those seagulls cause they can become a real nuisance. If you stay at that resort, please take the time to take the boat to Downtown Disney, wow. We can't wait to go back.

Pros: Relaxing walk(s), Gone With the Wind type feel, great price, store, food court
Cons: Privacy curtain (though an upgrade), Resort name, buses.

I've been going to Dixie Landings since it opened back in 1993 and have never had a bad thing to say about it. Our most recent stay there was 4/12-4/15 2011 and it's like stepping into a memory. Everything is the same, save for a few little additions. I didn't expect anything different and I was not disappointed.

If you like walking, Dixie Landings is the resort for you. You can walk a mile if you're a long way from the food court. I loved the walking as it was very relaxing and I was able to keep exercising throughout the three days we were there. But if you're not a fan of walking, then request a room by the food court.

Dixie Landings has a strong Gone With the Wind feel to it and while I wanted a Magnolia Bend room, I was happy with Alligator Bayou, mostly because you can't go wrong while you're there.

Port Orleans Riverside does not fit Dixie Landings. I have a major problem with the re-naming of the resort and so do a lot of people from what I've heard. It may not be politically correct but it fit with the Antebellum South theme.

We've stay at Dixie Landings nine times and eight times were wonderful. The last time we had stayed there was in 2002. That wasn't a good year to vacation in general but we thought Disney would the same. When my dad and I were going to the Magic Kingdom, we had to wait seven buses for the Magic Kingdom bus to come. Another day during the trip, we went to Downtown Disney and had to wait an obscene amount of time before the bus came, to which when my dad asked what had taken so long, the drivers' reply was "You're lucky to get a bus at all." Needless to say, that turned us off Dixie Landings for a while until 2009 when we seriously began to think about staying there again.

All in all, this is probably my second favourite resort we've stayed at and although it brought back great memories, I don't think we'll be staying here again for sometime.

Pros: the bus location - 15 min fr each park
Cons: long walk to the Riverside Mill

The service (front desk, concierge and bell) is always great.
The room is clean.
The Riverside Mill is always busy.
The Piano Man is the best.
The store is the best place to catch those last minute things you forgot.

I keep coming back as this has been my fourth time here....luv it!

Pros: beautiful grounds, friendly people, great food
Cons: a lot of people on the buses at night

This was our first stay at POR and we HIGHLY recommend it. The grounds are beautiful & you have the choice of a boat or a bus (depending on where you want to go.) The rooms were adequate for our family of five & you can store luggage under the beds which is unusual for a hotel. We had a preferred room (bldg. 14) and are glad that we did as it is a very large property & we wanted to be close to a bus stop & the main lobby, gift shop & restaurants. It was our middle son's birthday & he had a message on the phone when we checked in of Mickey Mouse singing him Happy Birthday! He wore a birthday pin all week & EVERYONE on staff wished him a Happy Birthday - it was special. We will stay here again.

Pros: Beautiful grounds, good food, lots to do
Cons:

We stayed at POR, and absolutely LOVED it. The grounds are beautiful, the food is good (lots of options), the boat is super convenient, and relaxing, and the pools are great. We stayed in Acadian House (Magnolia Bend). The rooms were nice, the curtain that pulled across was awesome. I mean the rooms were nothing spectacular, but I had no complaints. We weren't too far from the main lodge, but i would recommend staying in Magnolia, if you have the option. The main pool was little cold, but there was a big hottub, and the waterslide was fun. The private pools were great. All in all I LOVED this resort. Also we hardly ever had a long wait for busses. I would highly recommend staying here!

Pros: Beautiful Setting/Landscape
Cons: Poor Quality Rooms

The grounds are beautiful and the buildings are still in pretty good shape. The waterways throughout are beautiful at night and a walk in the quiet of the morning hours is very nice. But the "Disney" factor is not quite as evident as the Caribbean Beach or really any of the other resorts. The rooms are getting very old (incidental note-no digital/HD TV, only the older big bulky types) There is only a curtain between the two sinks and the beds (yes, there is a door to the commode and bath). The rooms are very small and the bath area is tiny. Unless you request a special "lodge" you might be 150 yards from the nearest bus stop. It is all a matter of luck-there can be a whole lot of walking - don't underestimate this factor-especially when tacking on the walking built into the theme parks. This resort covers alot of territory. One irritating factor was that it appeared that the Riverside was far more occupied than the French Quarter - when the buses arrived from the POFQ only a few guests were aboard and the great majority of riders got off/on at the POR stops -especially the stop at the POR lobby. A few times the bus driver would ask if you were going to POR or POFQ and he would only go to POR - never was the POFQ mentioned in this regard.
Due to unusual circumstances our visit was during the Spring Break season and it was consequently crowded with alot of young families - the low-cost eatery (don't have the name readily handy) was crowded almost all day long and late into the evening. The "mousekeeping" was adequate - so no complaints there. The pools are just regular and nothing special. I suggest the Caribbean Beach or another moderate resort. Last thought: You are really far from the Magic Kingdom. Final thought: We still love on-site Disney but will not go in April again (I hope).

Pros: Transportation to Downtown Disney, food court
Cons: large resort, dirty room

The grounds and themeing were amazing and the foodcourt had great food and was never busy when I was there. I boat trip to Downtown Disney was relaxing and there wasn't a long wait.

I was in a preferred room in Alligator Bayou Building 27. Compared to the distance from the preferred room to the main building at All Star Music, I would say this building should not be called a preferred room. The room was also just dirty. There was dust everywhere, soap scum and dirt in the tub and sink, and this white, sandy, powdery stuff all over the chairs. If I had a young child, I would be very worried about letting them touch things in the room and crawl around in the room. Unfortunately, I don't think I will ever stay here again.

Pros: Beautiful Grounds, Friendly CMs
Cons: trundle is too small for bigger kids.

We stayed here last October, right before Halloween. It was our second stay at this resort. We have 3 children 11, 10, and 6 and we chose this resort because it can accomodate a family of 5.

First of all the grounds are beautiful. We spent part of a day enjoying the resort. We rented a family bike, enjoyed the pools, and explored the resort.

Bus transportation was great. Sure it was crowded at times, but waits were very modest. CMs were often stationed at the main bus depot to direct traffic and provde bus updates.

Although crowded at times, we loved the food court. Plenty of choices and quick service.

We missed Hee Haw Bob Jackson on our earlier visit, so we made a point of seeing him this time. I know people seem to love his act, but we didn't.

Without exception, from the front desk, to the food court, to the grounds keepers, the CMs were friendly and helpful. My favorite aspect of WDW are the people that work there.

Pros: beautiful grounds, boat to DD, mousekeeping
Cons:

We just visited POR for the second time 3/12-3/19/11 and LOVED every minute of it. Our room was always clean and we had towel animals, etc. almost every day. Our mousekeeper was great. The grounds are just beautiful and we love the boat to DD. It is so peaceful. We were close to the West Depot and never waited more than 5 minutes or a bus to any of the parks. We will stay at POR again on our next visit for sure.
