Pros: big room, beautiful view
Cons: lifeguards leave early, so can't use the pool for last few hrs that pool is open

I was very concerned about going here after reading some of the reviews. We enjoyed our view of the lake and golf course. Our room was nice (we requested a refurbished one) and clean. I loved having a kitchen. We ate breakfast most days in the room, packed snacks and drinks daily for the parks and enjoyed dessert on the patio at night.
Only dislike was mentioned above. Also, we didn't get any towel animals despite leaving a tip. It is a very spread out resort but that didn't bother us since we had a rental car. However, we LOVED staying here.

Pros: AH! Home Away From Home
Cons: --------

Hi, this is our home resort, but, the last couple of years we stayed at Pop Century & Boardwalk, our return visit reminded us why we love this resort so much(and better than anywhere else at WDW), great surroundings, great cast members, and just overall it is truly Home Away From Home!! We were just across from the Hospitality House, and we just had a fantastic week(10/4--10/10), can't wait till next year(June) as we have 9 of us going and have our 2 BDR, and 2 Studios reserved and ready to go.

Pros: Clean, private, quiet.
Cons: None

Stayed Oct. 3 to Oct.8, this was the first time I stayed at OKW. My husband and I were traveling with 2 other couples and I read that OKW was larger then other locations, so decided to try it. I was more than pleased with this resort. Check in was quick and our room was ready within a half hour of check in at 1:00PM. I did request the location of our rooms be close to the hospitality and on the first floor since I was traveling with people that had some medical issues. I did get the location requested and was pleased to find out that you can park your car in front of your room. This was a great help to my group. The rooms were clean and neet. Bus pickup was close and the buses ran often to all the parks. We ate at Olivia's one night and were all pleased with the meals. I did like the fact that you can go to Marketplace and Downtown Disney by boat. Great trip. Will stay here again!! Highly recommended!!

Pros: large rooms, quiet pools
Cons: distance from the main house

My family was upgraded recently to stay at OKW. We knew nothing about the resort, but we were very excited after reading the reviews. We had a 1 bedroom suite for the 4 of us. It was nice to have the laundry and kitchen available even though they are not necessities since we always pack tons of clothes and we purchased the dining plan. Our room was just off the 4th tee box and had a beautiful view of the fountain. We enjoyed swimming late at night after the pool was "officially closed". Security never kicked us out and it was good to cool down before heading to bed.

We are not DVC members, but are seriously considering joining since we had such a positive experience. I was concerned about feeling like an outsider by staying in a DVC resort without being a member. This was not the case and we were treated very well by all of the staff at OKW.

My only issue was the distance between us and the main house. We did not rent a car for the week so it was not convenient. We also purchased refillable mugs which have been great in the past. At OKW we found it to be a bit of a waste. The Turtle Shack did not open until 11 (by then we were off to the parks) and it was closed well before we arrived back to the room.

MAIN ADVICE... if you are not going to have a vehicle call to request a room closer to the main house. Also try Olivia's, the food is great and the general store has many snack/food options for your room.

Pros: large rooms
Cons: far from main pool, rooms not clean

My family and I are DVC members and stayed in a 2 bedroom villa at OKW from 9/23-9/28. We had an infant, an 19 month old and a 4 year old with us. The room was large and comfortable, however my sister discovered the floors in the bathroom were very dirty and seemed to have pee around the toilet. We called the front desk and they sent a maid right away. She first said that it was glue, but when my sister demonstrated that it can be cleaned, the maid quickly changed her mind and agreed to fully clean the room the next day. We did like the OKW overall, however were disappointed in the walk to the main pool. There were no quick paths there like in Saratoga Springs, where we stayed 2 years ago and loved. The food at Olivia's was good, but very over priced. We would have liked more options at the resort for food.

Pros: Very clean,roomy,and home feel.
Cons: none but some buildings are far away hos. house

My family and I (11 total) stayed 9-12 t0 9-19. We all stayed in 4 separate 1-bedroom villas in building 29. This was our third stay. None of us had a bad room, in fact the rooms were great, large and clean. It was a little far from the house and pool but considering all the walking we did in the parks, it was no comparison. Would have liked a better food option at Goods and Olivia's but what we all ate was good. Had the Dining plan, which I highly recommend. We have stayed at Pop Century the last 2 times. This time we had reserved the All Star Music resort but Disney upgraded us to Old Key West at no charge. We were very surprised and pleased with this. Was told that no one had been staying at OKW much tru the summer is the reason for the upgrade. We all loved this resort but all agreed that we would not pay the extra to stay her in the future. It is just a lot extra in money to stay here. Bus service great, pool great, park hopper great. The only negative thing I or we can say is that if you do the dining plan with a large gathering such as ours, then try to eat in pairs or under 8 people so you do not have to pay the mandatory 18% gratuity. The waitstaff knew they were going to come out good no matter how bad/good the service is. Out of the 7 table service meals only about two earned there 18% gratuity. Love DW and will always try to go about every two years.

Pros: big rooms, balcony, nice grounds
Cons: no elevator

We stayed at OKW 8/30/2009-9/2/2009 in a studio across from the hospitality house. The room was huge 2 queen beds and decent size closet that fit all of our luggage and a large bathroom. Plus there was a wet bar area with a large coffee pot, a sink, microwave, and mini refrigerator. There was so much space from the beds to the dresser area that the kids were able to sit on the floor spread out and play in front of the tv and I never felt like we were stepping on each other to move around the room.

When we arrived to check in it took all of 5 minutes, no long lines, no waiting. Our room was ready so bellhop took our bags to our room and we quickly unloaded before heading to the parks.

We spent a day at the resort while there, the pool was just right. A slide for the kids that they adored, plus there was a big sand castle play area next to the kid pool, which DD enjoyed for a good long while, plus the laundry is right there so it was great to take and hang out at the pool and then bring back to the room when we were done. We also visited community hall and did a project and DS played a pool game with the CM's and won.

Our view from the balcony was of the golf course which was nice to sit and drink coffee in the morning and watch the golfers tee off. In the evenings DH and I would sit on the balcony and relax while the kids dozed off.

I have always been a little skeptical of OKW due to the lack of theming, but this is now one of my favorite resorts.

Pros: Landscaping, theming, room size and cast
Cons: A bit dated....

We stayed here for the first time on points 9/6 through 9/11/09. The resort is large, but managable. We were in the Miller's Road area in room 1926. Nice view from the balcony of a pond, fountain and part of the golf course. Decent food options, although limited. The grounds were lush and gave a wonderful tropical feeling to the place. The furnishings and linens were rather dated and the room could use some sprucing up. All in all a very nice place to stay.

Pros: great buses, very clean rooms and property, very responsive staff
Cons: rooms can be quite far from Hospitality House

We were upgraded to a 1 bedroom villa at Old Key West August 25-31st. It was the first time we stayed at a vacation club resort. It was very different. At first I got the feeling that it was a hotel that didn't want to provide the hotel services because we had a problem getting disposable coffee cups to our room from mousekeeping, then we had money go missing in our room and a problem with our door lock (which required a lot of extra walking late at night)but Mousekeeping and their management came through big time and was able to locate the money and Management was responsive about the door issue. They were soo supportive and responsive to our issues that it was hard to be upset with it. And it really helped make our trip a great one. I would stay here again. Very centrally located. The buses were just fantastic..I think the longest we waited once was 15 minutes, and it was never that long of a wait again. The gift shop had a great variety of items and the pool was soo nice for afternoon breaks or a great way to start the day. Would definitely recommend it to others.

Pros: Large rooms, beautilful grounds
Cons: None

We stayed at OKW the last week of May when it appeared Florida was trying to catch up on its rain shortage in 2 weeks! In over 20 years of coming we have never seen such rain!

Our 2 bedroom suite overlooked the 3rd hole of the golf course and the view was beautiful. Who knew that a sand trap could become a water hazard so quickly?

We had a dedicated 2 bedroom and our neighbor who also happens to be my best friend was able to come with us. We had a wonderdul time.

OKW continues to be our favorite resort. We truly feel like we are home when we are here.

My friend loved eating at Olivia's and it continues to be one of our favorite places to eat. The staff is wonderful and friendly and we always enjoy being there.

We could very easily have let the huge amount of rain ruin our visit, but we chose to just "go with the flow" (pardon the pun)and enjoy ourselves.

We'll be back the last week of October and first week of November. I can't wait to hear my 2 favorite words 'Welcome Home"

Pros:
Cons:

We love Old Key West! Even though it's the oldest vacation club resort, it's always clean and beautiful (and the least points value of all the DVC resorts).

We stayed last week (Aug 23-29) and, as always, the cast members were fantastic and welcoming. We also love this resort because they have boat rentals here. The quick service is pretty limited, but we usually eat in the room or in the parks. Didn't use the pool (went to the water parks instead) but we have during past visits and it's a nice pool.

Overall, this is one of our favorite places to stay. Even though our home resort is Saratoga Springs, we usually stay here!

Pros: Room size
Cons: Quick service

Just returned from our stay at OKW (7/24-8/1). We stayed in a studio in order to save points and be able to stay longer. There were 4 of us, but we fit comfortably in the studio. We normally stay in a 2 bedroom and missed the living room, kitchen and in room washer/dryer. There are very limited food options for Quick service dining at OKW. We only used it once and actually walked over to Saratoga which has better dining options. OKW is a great resort with a home like feel. This is not our home resort, but we always stay here.

Pros: Amenities, room size, location
Cons: More pools, food options

Wow, Our first use of our recently purchased DVC in OKW. Thanks to AllEars and DVCbyresales!
This was our third choice when we booked our trip but so glad we ended up here. Traveled with wife and two teenage sons. Took advantage of online check-in and it worked well with only minor glitch. By far the best place we have stayed so far. Mostly stayed at moderate resorts in past. The decor was right up our alley - tropical theme and the landscaping was tremendous. Located in building 64 which is close to Hospitality House. Beautiful views and very quiet. We traveled the week of 6/21 (hottest week in Fl so far!). Only knock is with 100+ degree heat factors, would have liked the pools to have been a little cooler. They were as warm or warmer than the air temp. Food was great at Olivia's and quick serve but would have liked a few more choices. After touring some of the other DVC resorts, we all agree we would like to stay here the most!

Pros: Size of room, pool areas, amenities
Cons: Noise

This was our first stay at OKW, and we were very pleased. We had a 1BD villa. I requested and received a 2nd floor, golf course view room. The room was huge - plenty of room for DH, DD and I to spread out. It was great having a main pool and quiet pool - we were able to relax at both, which my DD loved. The community area offers many amenities, inc. movie rental which was great for a quiet night.

Our only complaint was the noise. Being on the golf course was beautiful, but the mowing at 4:30 am was loud. Also, the last two nights we had roudy neighbors which made it difficult to sleep.

We will be back to OKW for our next long stay.
