Pros: Good Food, lots to eat, easy to get Character Pictures
Cons: None

We have eaten at Chef Mickey's many times over the years. This visit was 4 adults on 05/06.
We all like the all you eat food. Parmesan Potatoes and Beef carved to order with peal and eat shrimp are the best. Even with all adults age 19-55 the characters still visited and took pictures.
What made this trip real good was a favorite dessert was not on the buffet at the time of our visit. I asked the server, Tom , and went out his way to find me some in the kitchen and deliver them to me.
This is not the place for some one that not like to eat much as the price is high. If you like to eat you can get your monies worth were for sure as well. If you like to eat and want easy Character Time with the kids Chef Mickey's can not be beat.

Pros: Great Waitress! Characters! Good dinner and even better Dessert!
Cons: Loud

We ate here on 12/9/12. This is my youngest son's fav character meal! This means we've eaten here often! They take a family picture before seating you. It costs extra so if you don't want it then simply ask to not take the pic. Easy as can be. Our waitress was Great! She even brought out a birthday cupcake for our daughter! The characters were fun and the food was good. For me I love the mini desserts they have! Fruit tarts, mini cheesecake, oreo mickeys etc Yum! Highly recommended for taking the younger kids to see Mickey Mouse!

Pros:
Cons:

Very disapointing! Big change since I ate here in 2010! Back then our whole party loved it! Ate here again over Marathon weekend with DH mostly because he loves the parmesean mashed potatoes. This time they were terrible! And the rest of the food was just mediocre. It was nice to see the characters and our server was nice but for the two of us, it cost about $90 including tip. Was not worth it and have crossed off our "must eat at" list.

Pros:
Cons:

I think this restaurant is highly overrated. For what they charge...wow. We went only because we had our 4 yr old grandaughter with us for her first trip. She liked seeing Mickey etc but none of we grownups were too highly impressed. We were there 12/13--12/20/12.

Pros: Location food
Cons: none

This is one of my family's favorite places to eat. It was better this time then the last time. The food was much better this time then last. we didn't really like our pictures, but we had the photo pass plus, so it wasn't really an issue. The only thing is I wish they had better desserts. This is our must do on every trip.

Pros: kids liked it.
Cons: disorganized.

My family ate here last week on the Dining Plan. The food was OK, nothing spectacular, yet nothing to complain about. Kids loved it, of course. The characters visited our table 3-4 times, which was nice in one way, but honestly felt more like disorganization. The thing that REALLY disappointed is this: My husband and I ordered drinks which came to $20. We left $20 cash for the drinks as well as a $20 tip for the waitress. When checking out of our hotel, we learned the drinks were charged to the room which means our waitress kept the $40. Our concierge QUICKLY rectified this, but it still left a bad taste in my mouth. Especially since this same waitress took care to point out the 18 and 20% tip lines to me which I found offensive. This experience will keep me from returning to this restaurant.

Pros: atmosphere, character interaction
Cons:

Chef Mickey's is a good character meal for the kids. The characters make sure that they come to every table, and they allow you to take as many pictures as you want to. There were 3 of us in our family and with a few of the characters, all 3 of us took pictures. The restaurant is very kid-friendly and open enough to allow people to move to and from the buffet lines.

The food itself though, while not bad, is not great either. Basically average. The food quality is the reason I am rating Chef Mickey's only an 8. The staff was excellent, as were the characters.

Pros: Characters, decent food, great dessert buffet
Cons: Cafeteria style

This was our one "character" meal, and Chef Mickey's worked for us. I've heard and read other people complain about it, and I just don't get it. The food was fine, with plenty of choices, a great salad bar, and a carving station. Most importantly, we got to see the "Big 5" characters and take pictures of them with our kids. Then the kids got to build their own sundaes, which they loved. I recommend the little key lime tart things. No complaints from me.

Pros: Seeing Mickey, Pluto and friends
Cons: More not so good food than good. Very expensive

We were here for lunch on 10/23. The menu is similar to dinner, however. While we found a few items on the buffet we liked, it was the only time I have ever heard my nine year-old son say he didn't like the pizza. He normally loves pizza of any kind. The big problem is that it is a VERY expensive meal, even at lunch, for the quality of food. We all wanted to try it because we had heard of the restaurant but all of us agreed that we would not return.

Pros: characters
Cons: service

If you are on the dining plan then this character meal is definitely worth it! 5 great character interactions! We have 2 kids (ages 6 and 8) so this was a great way to see the classic characters without waiting in line.

Service was a little lacking compared to other Disney dining experiences. Our server brought our drinks (once) and disappeared. In fact, our son spilled his drink and a glass broke. We had to send a photo employee to find our server since she was no where in sight.

At the table next to us was a little boy celebrating his 4th birthday. His parents had ordered a cake. The server brought it out and set it on the table with out even saying anything. She had to go back for matches because the candle wasn't even lit. When she lit the candle, she said "Happy Birthday" and walked away. The mother at the table said "Umm that's it?". We were a little sad for them. Anyway, the characters were great and the food was good.

The forced picture by the plastic Mickey could be done away with, in my opinion - especially since it costs extra to purchase. The bathroom was downstairs and a little far away for such a popular and busy restaurant. Not sure if we'll return.

Pros: Character interaction
Cons:

We went to Chef Mickey's for dinner the first night we arrived on October 8th. This was our first vacation to WDW as a family. We had a great time there. The characters came around quite a bit to pose for pictures and sign autograph's which the kids loved. We found the food to be fine. We're not overly picky eaters and went up a few times to try the different foods. Overall it was a great experience and we will definitely go there again on our next visit.

Pros: Characters
Cons: Average buffet food

Ate at Chef Mickey's on 9/21 for the third time. Great place for the kids to see the characters so you don't have to chase them all over the park. That's the only perk. The food and service has gone downhill. Prices are very expensive for just average buffet food. Nothing spectacular. What really bothered me was that the waiter came over and introduced himself, brought us drinks, and we never saw him again, but had to tip $30. I don't mind tipping, but when it is a buffet and the waiters don't serve you, I think it's a little steep for not much service.

Pros: Characters, decent food, excellent service
Cons: Poor desserts, lame photo session before seating

I'm not a buffet guy because I feel the food is lower quality, but we definitely had to do at least one character dining experience.

Pre meal: we unfortunately still had to wait 10 minutes even with a dining reservation made 180 days prior! We also thought the lame "take your picture with a plastic Mickey & friends" photo was very unnecessary. Who would pay $30 for this photo when you can take your own picture with the real Mickey at your table 5 minutes later?

Meal: it's awesome dining with the characters coming around. Our waitress was awesome and paid special attention to our anniversary pin - so did the characters. The chef met with me and told me the three menu items I couldn't have and was very friendly.

The salad bar was fantastic. We both had a large salad. My girlfriend had some pasta, I opted for the "prime rib", turkey, mashed potatoes (all the "expensive" stuff). The meat was a bit dry and potatoes were extremely rich (albeit, very tasty). The gravy and au jus were nice additions. There was a decent amount of selection.

Dessert: The desserts were very cheap tasting, but our server was so kind and brought us both chocolate cupcakes with lit candles for our anniversary. The cupcakes tasted frozen & the icing and cake were pretty cheap tasting, but the gesture was very sweet of her. The ice cream at the station tasted very watery and just was not the soft serve I was expecting. The key lime tarts were very good, though.

Overall: it's a must-do experience. The food is not bad, but could be improved. MAKE YOUR RESERVATIONS 180-DAYS PRIOR!
