Pros: food, service
Cons:

I really enjoyed this meal. There was a good variety of food -- many things that were new to me and several that were familiar. Lots of vegetables and fruits. Overall the food is very flavorful and herbs/spices are used liberally in many dishes. The not-so-brave eaters will find a great plenty to enjoy here, too.

My waiter and others were happy to explain the food and make recommendations for us newcomers. They were also quick to remove plates and flatware and to refresh drinks. I was pleased to see that dessert portions were quite small, allowing one to try a few easily.

This buffet line was very clean, and the attendands focused on keeping it that way. You won't find food drips and spills, sticky serving spoons, or almost-empty bowls. On the contrary, this was very neat, colorful, and generous in appearance.

The restaurant is a bit dark, and it is noisy and very busy, even at 5 PM. The staff handles the noisy crowd with grace.

Pros: Variety of food
Cons: Noise

Our party of 2 ate here on 9/19 using the dining plan.

We arrived a bit before our reservation and had to wait just about 10 min for a table. Once we were seated our waiter came and took our order. Unfortunately, there were no special drinks with the dining plan, so we stuck with cokes. We did order a flight of South African wines to share, which was great.

The buffet was wonderful. We went up three times for food and one time for dessert each. Each time we tried something different (and shared it). We had tastes of most of the soups, all the salads and the wonderful meats. The curry pasta salad stood out as a favorite. We also enjoyed the meats they had.

The desserts were great. We each grabbed 4 different desserts we wanted to try (8 total). It was great because they were all bite sized so we got a small bite of each (we shared). It was difficult to save room for dessert, but they were so good we didn't mind getting stuffed.

This was a great, different meal for us. We enjoy being adventurous as we eat, and Boma allowed us to do that. It was great as a buffet because we could try a bit of everything, but we were not committed to it.

The one annoyance was the noise in the area. Also some of the people didn't receive the instruction that there is no line - just go up to any area and start dishing. There was a huge, seemingly pointless line near the meat table. This was well worth the trip to the AKL!

Pros: food
Cons:

My family ate here during our vacation (august 23rd-30th). We are repeat diners at this restaurant. DD (9), DS (7 and 12) loved the food so much last year we had to come back this year. The spinach pudding is delightful. Waiter was a little too comfortable and sat down to take our order, but still attentive of our needs. It is a buffet, but the line is never too long. Kudos to the chefs!

Pros: Tasty Food
Cons: None

We dined here on 08-19-12; a friend of DW recommended Boma highly. After debating on how adventurous we wanted to be, we made an ADR. We were pleasantly surprised!
After arriving early at 6:30 PM for a 7 PM ADR, we were brought to our table within five (5) minutes. Our server arrived right away, explained things and took our drink order. Off we went to the Buffet. DD stuck with what she knows best, chicken nuggets, pasta. DW and I tried the food we came here to try. First was the carving station. The steak they cut is Medium Rare, if you order it any other way towards Well Done, they offer to put your piece of steak on the grill to get the doneness you ask for. I tried the way it was then went back and let them grill my second piece of steak some more – it was so worth waiting that extra minute or so!! The additional grilling added a wonderful grilled taste to the meat. While I didn’t try everything, I tried a lot – it was all delicious! Many of the foods were very sweet tasting, Fufu comes to mind – this we weren’t expecting. The fruit was fresh and exotic to me (even though they are easily available at the grocery store), I had never tried some of the fruits before. We finally squeezed in some desert, and what we tried was scrumptious – we couldn’t eat much – everything before that was so great!
So, if you want to try some Exotic food, where there’s something on the menu for everyone, even picky kids with a self-limited menu, Boma is the place to try!

Pros: Variety of unique foods
Cons: None

We love to eat here. It is the best buffet at WDW due to the selection and unique foods. The only down side is trying not to over eat. There is so much to sample. The 5 different types of soup alone are enough for a meal. Love the Bobotie and the Pap. Love the Zebra Domes. Servers were friendly and the young lady from South Africa who seated us was a pleasure to talk to. We had reservations and did not have to wait to be seated on Aug. 19.

Pros: food variety and specialties
Cons: none

Showed up early for our 7:05 reservation on 8/27 and was seated very quickly. Everything we tried we liked. This is one restaurant that seems to be consistently good in my opinion. I go there every trip. Great soups and desserts!

Pros: roasted chicken, chocolate martini
Cons: food

We were staying at AKL and decided to try Boma for dinner and breakfast. We did not enjoy the dinner. I guess were picky eaters! The only foods we liked were the rice, roasted chicken, and mashed potatoes. We did try many things, just didnt like them. However, the zebra domes were amazing!

Pros: An extended variety of great food
Cons:

Our family's dining experience reached its pinnacle at Boma. The cuisine is a bon vivant's paradise. Boma has an ever pleasing medley of food choices. Since it's a buffet I recommend throwing all caution to the wind and sampling dishes that you wouldn't ordinarily consume. I promise you,you will not be disappointed. With that said, don't neglect some of the traditional favorites that are also served. The(s)mashed potatoes and mac-n-cheese are creamy delicious.

If you are a vegetarian/vegan, not to fear, you will not be relegated to simple side dishes. There is a host of dishes with complex flavors for you.

The head chef surprised me with a jicama salad that had cloud 9 status!

Boma offers a tasters choice of signature desserts that is guaranteed to have you dashing back and forth from your seat for these tasty indulgences.

Pros: The Food!
Cons: They don't do lunch

The best dining experience of our recent 10 day WDW trip where we only ate on property! We love Boma!

You would think that an 8 year old would like this food the least (due to the African takes on these great dishes). But no! It was his favorite. I also noted this was where he ate the most varied types of foods and probably more than anywhere else, including other buffets. He especially loved the pasta, chicken legs, and mielie bread.

I loved the mushroom soup, the baked chicken, carved beef, edamame salad, cole-slaw, potato salad. The mashed potatoes were cooked perfectly. You will not find a bad dish here!

We have been coming to Boma for many years now during our annual trips and they just keep getting better. Sometimes California Grill is our favorite, sometimes Chefs de France, sometimes Akershus (pre-princess). But this year, Boma was the best! We ate here for dinner and for breakfast. My only complaint is that they don't do lunch!

Pros: Service, Food, Dessert
Cons: Side Dishes

We stayed at the lodge for one week in July. We loved Boma and ate at the breakfast and dinner buffet almost daily. The food choices were excellent. My youngest son, age 5, would only eat chicken nuggets and french fries which the servers would get for him. The salad with the chili cilantro dressing was delicious along with the pita bread and hummus. The carved meats were very good along with the fufu (mix of sweet potatoes and mashed potatoes). I wish the other side dishes were more clearly labeled so you knew what they were. The desserts were amazing!! Service was always great.

Pros: salad variety and not just typical buffet items
Cons: not enough variety on sides and meats

We dined at Boma for the first time on June 15 for dinner. We were staying at the AKL so we figured we should try it. I loved that there were numerous salads to choose from which seems to be lacking in some of the other WDW buffets. However, I felt there could have been more sides and meat choices. Seemed there were far more salads and desserts to choose from. Our service was excellent. We dine early (4:30-5PM)so lines at the bar were not an issue at all. I would like to go back and try it again on rib night but I don't think I would make a special trip to AKL for Boma.

Pros: seated promptly, kids liked it
Cons: price, noisy, food not good

We stayed at the Animal Kingdom Lodge for 7 days in June. Over the course of our wonderful stay we dined at a few on site restaurants, but by far the one I was looking forward to most was Boma. We had a dinner booked there and later in the week we had a breakfast booked there. We had a awesome week at Disney but this was by far the biggest disappointment of our stay.

To begin with(a I knew this ahead of time) I don't think 10 is a good cutoff for the kid/adult boundary when it comes to food. That aside Myself, my wife and our two sons had a 7 pm dinner reservation. We showed up at 6:50 and we were seated by 7:00. Our waiter was fairly friendly but we didn't see a whole lot of them as it is a buffet setting. Our drinks came promptly so there was no issue there either.

The first issue I had was with the overly long line. After the fact I read reviews about jumping in line at any of the pods. This is not well marked so no one appears to know(the one time I did this for dessert I got dirty looks). Because of this the line stretches from the start of the first pod and goes into the dining area. Not only does this make for a long wait, but as we were eating people were lined up right beside our table. This makes for an uncomfortable eating environment. The restaurant is also noisy but i expected that from a Disney resort restaurant.

As for the food, My wife and I really did not care for it. The carved meats were merely okay. The rice and couscous had sweet flavors owing to the fact that they all had some type of fruit in them. Over spicing with either sugar or some other type of spice seemed to prevail(just my opinion of course). The cucumber salad was good and I did like the lentil and sausage soup okay(not really the time of year for soup but once i found something i liked i stuck with it).

We rounded it out with dessert. The warm apple cobbler looked delicious(and i love apple pie and cobbler) but this was terrible to the point that I couldn't finish it. It had way to much of some type of spice. Part of the filling was also oats which were crunchy and really didn't go well with this dessert. In the end we wound up having cookies, brownies and little mini chocolate mousses(which we could have gotten in the Kilamanjaro club).

I will say that my kids dubbed this restaurant "awesome". But their meal consisted of penne, meatballs, baked chicken, mac and cheese, cookies and Brownies.

In conclusion the meal was not even close to worth the 160$ we payed(including tip). In fact, we cancelled our remaining meal at Boma and will not return.
