We just returned from a five night stay (6/6 - 6/11/13)at Coronado Springs. I was actually a little disappointed with this resort as I had high hopes based on recommendations from friends and internet reviews.
We had no problems with the check in process and received the room we requested, a king bed on the fourth floor in casitas. While the room itself was nice and spacious, there were several problems with it. The bed made an incredibly loud noise every time you turned over (which lead to several bad nights of sleep), our ceiling fan would not turn on, and the door handle to the bathroom was broken. In their defense, we did not report these as issues as we did not feel like packing up everything and moving our stuff for what seemed like minor things.
Being in casitas we were located close to the bus stop and only a short walk to the main building, so as I anticipated I didn't mind the size of the resort, however we did not get to see all of it, including the main pool, because the long walk over there just wasn't worth it after a long day walking around.
My husband absolutely loved the fact that there was a small gym located close to our room, something we have not had in any other resort we have stayed in.
Overall I do not think that I would stay here again, though it would not be out of the question.

We just got back a few days ago from a 6 night stay at Coronado over Memorial Day weekend. We went mostly for Star Wars Weekend. This was our second time staying at CSR, and I have to say its even more beautiful than I remember it, but then everything was in bloom on this trip! Our last stay here was in Dec/Jan 2010, and so cold we didn't even get to use the pool. The resort was completely sold out most nights with a few different conventions there, but we barely noticed unless we went to El Centro for something. The buses were great, I think the longest we ever waited was 10 minutes, and most times it was less than 5 minutes.
I had booked a standard room only (passholder rates) and requested only one thing - close to transportation. We wound up in Rancheros 7B, which was a bit of a hike to El Centro - about 7 min, but I'm a fast walker. We could however see bus stop 3 from our window, which was very close, and perfect for us. It was also close to he Dig site, which is a great pool. We spent Memorial Day at the pool, and while it was busy, it was not packed. I have to say we like the pool and slide better than AKL, where we've stayed the last couple of trips. Lunch choices at the pool were fairly good as well.
Pepper market worked out well for us. Lots of choices and everything was really good. I did takeout back to the room for breakfast most mornings which avoided the convention breakfast rush. BTW - the Creme Brûlée French toast is awesome, and enough for two people. Oh, and you can get *real* coffee in you mug at the expresso bar

When I arrived 4/28, my requested room in Bldg 9 near El Centro was not ready at check-in time, so they downgraded me to Bldg 4. They asked what floor I preferred, I replied ground floor. They put me on 4th floor. The TV didn't work every morning--desk said because it had been raining. The toilet flooded the bathroom one night, so we were 2 hours late getting to bed.
Next time I'll be going to Port Orleans--I understand they now have queen-size beds.

Just returned from a week long stay - while attending a conference. Stayed in 9B which is part of the business/club upgrade. Although it is more money, it is well worth it. The location of our room was perfect. It was close to lobby, bus stop, and pool. The staff in the club room were great. Read reviews about the quick service restaurant, it is a bit confusing the first time, but the food choices are very good. The staff was very helpful and overall the experience was good. A nice feature- you're the only ones on the bus! We did not share with other resorts! I would recommend this hotel!

This was our first time staying at the resort, and I did a lot of research prior to booking. Most of the reviews I saw mentioned the size of the resort being a negative, and cleanliness.
I have to tell you, neither of these were an issue! As long as you are informed and plan ahead, you can get a room near a bus stop. We stayed in the Cabanas section building 8B, and we could literally see the bus stop from our room. This was great, especially late at night trying to juggle a sleeping child, stroller and miscellaneous bags. We were also less than 2 minutes from the pool, which meant we didn't get any of the noise wafting over from it. We never had any long waits for the bus, nor couldn't get on a bus because it was too crowded.
The only negative aspect I felt was the way the quick serve restaurant worked. It is unlike any others I have been to before, and hopefully they will change it to be more in line with other quick serves. We only used it once, so it really wasn't an issue.
We had amazing housekeeping, and never had any issues with cleanliness. Our housekeeper even went so far as to call us one day to make sure we didn't need any supplies since we had the "do not disturb" sign up all day.
We will 100% book this hotel again, and I will recommend it to anyone looking for a moderate resort!!

Why to stay at Coronado: this resort is made for conventions. Therefore, the resort is a little less flashy than some of the other Disney resorts. Quieter, in general, also. Check-in was fast and good. Our room was ready ahead of schedule. Unlike last trip for us, the buses ran very regularly and often. The bathroom could have been a little cleaner, but in general the room was in good order. We stayed in the Rancho section which had some nice touches inside the room. I think, if we had not brought a fan to have on at night the gas golf carts all night might have been annoying. The roll-away bed that I got added to the room over the phone and then re-made sure about at the front desk when we checked-in was not in our room 8 hours later. So had to re-call the desk, but they quickly and happily fixed the situation. Best part...the beds. The beds were soft and I was happy.

We stayed here Thanksgiving night 2012. We had two connecting rooms on the first floor in Building 7B. This building is convenient to Bus Stop 4. If you catch a bus at this stop, it swings by the first bus stop before taking you to a park. Coming from the parks, you are the last stop. We really liked the interior of the rooms. The sliding wooden doors between the beds and sinks are really nice. The beds were comfy and the linens were nice. We thought the grounds were beautiful. This is a large resort. Since we were there only one night, we didn't mind the long walk to the main building, but if we had been on a week long vacation, I am sure the walk would have been a bother. The counter service restaurant food was okay. Nothing great. We did not like how the servers had to bring you you drinks and then they charged you a gratuity. I didn't really like how you had to get your card stamped at each station that you got food. I prefer a true counter service where you basically serve yourself and then check out. If you were park-storming, this restaurant takes up too much time. They had a special meal prepared for Thanksgiving. They would pile a "small" plate full of traditional Thanksgiving food for $19.95. It was good, but for $19.95 I would think the plate should be bigger. This would be a good resort to stay at if you were having a laid back WDW. The size of the resort and the time-consuming CS restaurant was a negative for me. The staff was super friendly, and the holiday decorations were beautiful.

We stayed at the Coronado Springs 11/8/12 to 11/11/12, and were very disappointed. First, we found a roach in our room, which really killed the experience for us. We told the front desk, but felt like we got an insincere apology. Second, the complex was enormous. It was a long walk to get to the bus stop, and to the hotel restaurants. Also, there is a convention center on the complex, so there were a lot of non-Disney park guests there. You kind of felt like you were not at a Disney hotel.

My husband and I love this resort. The grounds are beautiful and it has great theming throughout. When we arrived our room wasn't quite ready, but front desk clerk, Kathryn, went out of her way to find a room that was ready for us. This gesture was much appreciated! Mousekeeping was great, although we were a bit disappointed when we came back from the parks around two o'clock one day and the maid had not been there yet. Coronado is hands down a great resort, we will be back!

We enjoyed our 1 night stay in Jan 2012 overall.
The updated linens and mini fridge were improvements from a prior trip in 2005.
The only downside was the crowd at Cafe Rix since the Pepper Market was not open at 4:45 in Jan when we were there. We weren't the only hungry guests, and the service was overwhelmed.
Other than that, no issues and would return again.

We stayed here September 29 - October 6. We had a room in Cabanas 9A and loved the location. It was near the main pool and a bus stop.
We ate at Pepper Market twice for supper and had excellent help to understand the process. Really enjoyed having so many choices so everyone got what they were hungry for.
Only trouble we had here was on our first morning, we waited 45 minutes for a bus to the Animal Kingdom and was 5 minutes late for breakfast reservations.

We stayed at Coronado Springs from 9/23/12-9/28/12 in Casitas 3. We were given a free upgrade to a preferred room at check-in which was a great surprise.
The room was decorated very nicely and had cute Mickey touches on the bedding and bathroom mirror. Unfortunately the room was not very clean, there was a clump of hair hanging off of the garbage can, and used empty soap wrappers under the sink and behind the toilet. Later that night when we went to give our son a bath we found another big clump of hair in the bathtub. It was pretty gross but after that first day we had no problems and our room always seemed neat and fresh.
The grounds were absolutely beautiful, we really enjoyed walking around the lake each morning and loved the landscaping. There was even a little alligator in the lake that we saw on 2 mornings from the bridge!
The pool was big and clean, and the slide was so much fun. Our son loved the kiddie pool, the whole theme is really neat and the adjacent playground is a lot of fun and very cool-looking.
We did not really enjoy the Pepper Market, we ate there 4 nights for dinner and it was a very confusing and inefficient set-up. The food was hit or miss and it was really hard to tell which stations were open since the employees were handling several areas at once. It was hard to tell where to stand in line and twice we were told to move to another line to order from a certain section, then saw other guests walk right up and place their order from where we just were! I will say that when we ate in one night I did think our server really earned his tip, he worked very hard to make sure we had everything and was very friendly and thorough. We don't understand though why there is a 10 percent service charge, plus you are expected to tip - if you tip then what is the service charge for? We did take-out each time after the first night in order to save money.
The busses here were amazing, we have never had such great bus service. I would say maybe we were just lucky but every single park and Downtown Disney we barely had to wait for a bus. I think our longest wait by far was 8 minutes for a Magic Kingdom bus one morning.
We really liked this resort and would definately stay again. We felt it had the Disney feel and while there were conventions they never bothered us and everyone seemed super-nice. We never felt out of place with a toddler and the staff were all very friendly. I think this would be an especially good resort for honeymooners or adult couples since the resort is so beautiful and peaceful.

I read a lot, a LOT, of reviews before booking at Coronado Springs. The two things I was worried about the most was the walking from room to pool, eating, and buses. And I was worried about the feel of the hotel - not feeling "Disney". Both of those worries were unfounded. No, I didn't enjoy the walking, but I was 7.5 months pregnant too. So, I think had I been in my "normal" shape it wouldn't have bothered me. There are four bus stops located around the resort, which were very convenient. If you book here, just ask to be near to bus stop 2 or 3 - as they pick up first.
About the "non Disney" feel - no it wasn't like an All Star resort where everything you look at is screaming Disney, but it had just enough touches to remind you of the wonderfulness of Disney.
Also, we found the restaurant Pepper Market to be fabulous. Great selection! And it's on the Disney Dining plan. We ate there a lot. We loved the whole atmosphere of this resort and would stay there again. I highly recommend!! (btw, we stayed in Sept. 2012)

Cons:

Bus service spotty, bus shelter, room not made one day
|
|
Just returned from a second stay at Coronado Springs (from 9/22-9/29/2012). As was the case last time, the grounds were lush and gorgeous. Really appreciate the hard work that goes into keeping the flora looking great. I'd also add that this trip, the cast members couldn't have been more helpful and friendly. One other plus that I really appreciated was that the CS bus stops at the parks were conveniently located near the front of the queues.
As for negatives, the bus service was inconsistent. Sometimes they'd run as advertised, and other times there wouldn't be a single bus for up to 45-60 minutes (at which point, you'd get a clump of 6 or 7 in a row). Moreover, we had a monsoon hit real hard during one of the longer waits, and the shelter provided absolutely no coverage- we all got drenched! No easy fix on this point, I'm sure, but because the shelters are so far from the main buildings there was nowhere to run. Some people we were vacationing with had their own cars and those of us who didn't sure were jealous by the end of the stay! They seemed to fare much better and were able to explore WDW more efficiently.
Last minor quibble: our room wasn't made one day, although we were out from 7a-6p (and didn't have the privacy sign on the door). However, we did get fresh towels on request that night, so no biggie.

We (2 adults) stayed at Coronado Springs 9/13-9/22 and we thought the resort was wonderful!
The walking between areas was not a huge deal to us. We were in Casita 5, which was the perfect distance between El Centro and the main pool. I walked up to El Centro each morning to fill our mugs. It was also very close to bus stop 2.
The appearance and theming of the resort were great. Everything was lush and beautiful. It looked like we were in a tropical paradise!
The rooms were great and just what we were expecting from a Moderate resort. The 2 queen beds were very comfortable and the bedding was superb. The doors separating the bathroom from the main room was very nice to have - one of us slept while the other showered and got ready with no issues. There was definitely enough space for 2 people to be comfortable for over a week's stay. I would probably not enjoy the room with more occupants than that, though.
Our door faced an inner courtyard, which was nice. There was not a whole lot of noise that came in. However, we were fairly close to an elevator and the dinging could be heard occasionally.
The amenities were nice. Of course the transportation was great and there were convenient bus stops throughout the resort. The pool was great. We used the hot tub a bit, but it never got very warm. Rix Cafe got busy in the mornings, but it was ok if you were just filling your mug. The Pepper Market was convenient and tasty (we had dinner there), but nothing special.
All the staff we met were very friendly. There was a convention onsite for part of our stay. You noticed they were there, but they didn't really interfere with our activities. The resort just got a bit busier is all.
I would recommend Coronado Springs as a good moderate to anyone who was asking. We thoroughly enjoyed our time there!
